Abstract:According to two investigation of the intertidal macrofauna in the. sewage discharging area of Qingdao Cove by using cladistic analysis and indicator species, this area can be devided into two parts: the polluted area and the semi-polluted area. It is proved that this division was actually related to the pollution impact. The environmental quality of December, 1990 is better than that of 1989, which resulted in 9 more species settled there in 1990. This study shows that cladistics can be used as an efficient biomathematical method in the environmental quality investigation.
