The effect of increased ambient temperature on the vertical, radial, and volume increments of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) trees has been studied in the zone of thermal impact from a burning petroleum gas flare. Regular age-dependent changes in the pattern of increment dependence on the distance from the flare and ambient temperature have been revealed. The mechanisms of these changes are explained. It is concluded that an increase in ambient temperature by 1.0–1.5° C has a favorable effect on the dynamics of Scots pine growth.  相似文献

Morphophysiological parameters of needles have been studied in Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and Siberian spruce (Picea obovata Ledeb.) trees of different life states growing under conditions of industrial air pollution with sulfur and heavy metals. Three functional clusters (tentatively named the initial, transitional, and disastrous clusters), each characterized by a certain metabolic status, have been revealed, and their quantitative and qualitative structure has been evaluated. The morphophysiological responses of pine and spruce are shown to be qualitatively different, depending on differentiation of trees with respect to vitality under conditions of industrial pollution. Probable factors accounting for these differences are discussed.  相似文献

Long-term observations on Scots pine populations (2003–2012) were performed in areas of Bryansk region radioactively contaminated by the Chernobyl fallout. Throughout the observation period, the frequency of cytogenetic alterations in the root meristem of germinated seeds of pine trees from radioactively contaminated test sites significantly exceeded the control level. Seeds developing under chronic radiation exposure were characterized by high interannual variation in viability. The quality of the seeds and their resistance to additional γ-irradiation showed no definite relationship with the level of radioactive contamination in the site and the radiation dose absorbed by the generative organs of Scots pine.  相似文献

The reproductive capacity of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) has been estimated in trees from the population growing in an area used to store tailings from uranium ore processing and radium production. Under such conditions, 12- to 15-year-old trees produce seeds of a quality inferior to that in areas with a normal background radiation level. As the weighted absorbed dose rate (at a weighting coefficient of 5) for generative organs increases from 0.002 ± 0.0003 to 0.344 ± 0.059 mGy/day, a proportional increase is observed in the proportion of empty seeds and the frequency of cytogenetic disturbances in the root meristem of seedlings, while the survival rate of seedlings decreases. The minimum absorbed dose rate leading to these changes in the pine population is 0.027 mGy/day, i.e., 12 times as high as the control value.  相似文献

Cytogenetic variation was analyzed in daughter populations of Scotch pine from the Voronezh Forestry. The dependence of the variation on the method of seed collection (the commercial method; the population method, when seeds from a group of phenotypically normal trees in the center of the forest are collected; or the individual method, when seeds from plus trees are collected) and on the ecological situation at the sampling site (ecologically safe conditions or chemical or physical pollution) was studied. The parameters of the mitotic rate and mitotic pathology were estimated at 7–9% and up to 5%, respectively. These parameters may be considered as normal when estimating the quality of seed progeny in pine and when pine is used as a test object in cytogenetic monitoring. The limits of variation and the spectra of cytogenetic characteristics allowing the pine populations to maintain their homeostasis were also determined.  相似文献

Fungal canker caused by Biatorella difformis [Fr.] Rehm. has a deleterious effect on the productivity of Scots pine. Affected trees are characterized by decreased biometric parameters of shoots and needles and impaired pollen germination and tube growth. Intrapopulation diversity and correlations of 30 volatile compounds in needles have been studied in Scots pine populations of southern Siberia. Significant differences between populations have been revealed in the correlation pattern of relative terpenoid contents in needle samples. Stable combinations of closely associated mono- and sesquiterpenes and specific features of the general pattern of correlations between relevant characters have been determined.  相似文献

Trends in stem temperature of Scots pine trees in different life states are described. Any substantial disturbances of water flow in the roots, stem, or crown have an immediate effect on the stem temperature. This temperature shows a strong inverse correlation with the state of the tree, with the coefficient of determination ranging from 0.710 to 0.974. The method of assessing the physiological state of trees by temperature parameters allows early diagnosis of decline in the viability of conifers.  相似文献

The effects of two exogenous factors, ground fires and industrial air pollution, on natural regeneration of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) cenopopulations have been studied in the Transural region. It has been found that an increased level of air pollution leads to a decrease in the abundance and occurrence frequency of pine undergrowth; as the intensity of ground fire increases, these parameters of the postfire generation of undergrowth increase as well, especially in background areas. As shown by two-way ANOVA, either of these factors and their interaction have a significant effect on the density of pine undergrowth, with this effect being stronger in the case of ground fires.  相似文献

Experiments on chemical mutagenesis have shown that the seed progeny of self-fertile Scots pine trees (generations M1 and M2) have increased resistance to supermutagens, since the frequency of mitotic pathologies in them has proved to be even lower than in the F1 progeny of self-sterile trees chronically exposed to anthropogenic impact (automobile exhausts). This is evidence that the use of self-fertile forms in selective breeding for general and specific resistance holds much promise.  相似文献

A method is described for comparing the influences of nonsymbiotic and symbiotic parameters (accounted for by the plant itself and by the plant together with ectomycorrhizal fungi, respectively) of under-ground organs on the development of aboveground organs. The method has been used to analyze 4- to 12-month Scots pine seedlings from 26 habitats. The results show that 24 to 88% (on average, 54%) of total variation in the weight of aboveground organs is dependent on specific structural features of roots and mycorrhizae, with nonsymbiotic and symbiotic parameters of underground organs accounting for 5–73% (on average, 36%) and 3–45% (on average, 18%) of this variation.  相似文献

The results of a karyological study on Siberian stone pines growing in the bog demonstrated differences from the populations of this species studied earlier with respect to sizes of chromosomes and location of secondary constrictions. The number of nucleolar organizer regions in the chromosomes of Siberian stone pine trees growing in the bog was larger than in other populations. A wide spectrum of chromosome aberrations was revealed, which had not been observed in this species before. These were genome and chromosome aberrations of various types, as well as structural aberrations accompanied by changes in the number of chromosomes. It is assumed that the aberrations in the karyotype of Siberian stone pine resulted from stressful conditions.  相似文献

To evaluate the consequences of irradiation on the vegetation of the Chernobyl region, gene expression was compared in morphologically normal and dwarf needles from the same Pinus sylvestris trees in a region where the absorbed dose was 3-5 Gy. To compare the levels of gene expression, arrays consisting of 373 Pinus taeda cDNAs were hybridized with labeled cDNA derived from normal and dwarf needles of P. sylvestris. Twelve genes were significantly (P<0.01) up- or down-regulated between normal and dwarf needles for all five trees taken together. Five of these, related to stress or development, were up- or down-regulated 1.25-1.7-fold in the dwarf needles. There were no significant differences in (137)Cs content in the normal and dwarf needles, or in elongation growth rate of seedlings raised under controlled conditions from seed derived from trees in the region that had received a radiation dose over the range 2-12 Gy.  相似文献

Pollution distribution maps of copper (Cu), zinc (Zn) and lead (Pb) for Erzurum province were developed on the basis of chemical analysis of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) needles collected from randomly selected sampling points during 2 years. The maps show deposition zones for the studied elements and could help in identification of sources and directions of air pollution dispersion. This study indicated that vegetation in Erzurum was greatly endangered by sulphur dioxide (SO(2)), whereas Zn does not pose an immediate threat to vegetation in most of the country's territory. However, in the city center, main and secondary road agglomeration, very high pollution with Pb and Cu could limit growth. Higher levels of SO(2) measured in some areas of Erzurum might be harmful for human and animal health. Results of this study indicated that Scots pine needles were not contaminated by Zn.  相似文献

The impact of long-term seasonal soil freezing, drought, and waterlogging on the rhizosphere of young Scots pine trees (Pinus sylvestris L., age class 1) has been simulated in experiments. The results have shown that cold stress exposure leads to reduction of the rates of linear and radial tree growth and of chlorophyll content in needles, a shift in the peak of starch content, and initiation of free amino acid deposition in the aboveground plant parts. Drought activates utilization of carbohydrate reserves and amino acid accumulation in the root bast, whereas soil waterlogging stimulates deposition of carbohydrates but causes a decrease in the levels of chlorophyll and amino acids in all plant tissues.  相似文献

To estimate the response of conifers to long-term industrial air pollution at the pigment system level, the dynamics of photosynthetic pigments have been studied in needles of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and Siberian spruce (Picea obovata Ledeb.) growing at different distances from the emission source (a pulp and paper mill). It has been shown that the pigment apparatus of spruce. The results show that in spruce, unlike in pine, the pigment apparatus remains unchanged under the effect of weak pollution. Long-term exposure at high levels of industrial emission results in suppression of chlorophyll and carotenoid syntheses in pine but stimulates pigment production in spruce. An increase in the contents of pigments in the needles of conifers growing in the impact zone of the pulp and paper mill reflects a compensatory mechanism of adaptation of their pigment system to long-term stress exposure.  相似文献

it has been determined that the sex structure of the population is of great importance for pine adaptation to extreme environmental conditions. As environmental conditions deteriorate, differentiation of populations with respect to sex becomes more apparent, the proportion of trees of mixed type decreases, and the number of male trees increases. A tendency toward correlation between tree habitus, needle and shoot sizes, and the sex structure of population is noted. The prevalence of male trees in populations exposed to increasing stress reflects the rearrangement of such populations aimed at the more efficient use of natural resources.  相似文献

Morphological parameters of the root system (the length of conducting roots and the number of absorbing roots) and the rate of its mycorrhization have been studied in one-year Scots pine seedlings from burned-out areas of cowberry-herb-green moss pine forest in the northern forest-steppe subzone of Western Siberia. The results show that the length of conducting roots in such seedlings increases, whereas the rate and density of mycorrhiza formation in absorbing roots decrease, compared to those in plants from unburned areas. The structure of underground organs in pine seedlings depends not only on fire intensity but also on the type of substrate in the burned-out area.  相似文献

Discriminant analysis has been used to analyze the composition of phenotypic forms and geographic differentiation of spruce populations in northwestern Russia in comparison with those of “standard” Norway spruce and Siberian spruce populations. The absolute prevalence of trees with an intermediate Norway-Siberian spruce phenotype has been revealed in almost all populations, except for the northernmost ones. Spruce populations in northwestern Russia may be divided into at least three groups, with the southern group being closer to the Norway spruce, and all other groups, to the Siberian spruce.  相似文献

Changes in the main climatic factors (air temperature and total precipitation) and their effect on the radial increment of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) over the period from 1933 to 2002 were studied in an insular pine forest growing in the steppe zone of the Southern Urals. Evidence for a significant increase in the amount of precipitation and air temperature in the second half of this period was obtained. Functions of response of radial increment indices to climatic parameters were analyzed. Relative contributions of air temperature and precipitation to variation in the radial increment of pine in different time intervals proved to differ in relation to climate changes during the past century.  相似文献
