Problem: Reports from the accident literature indicate that accident rates tend to vary with type of occupation. The mining industry has been recorded as the most dangerous with a high disabling injury rate. This observation has been attributed to the extremely stressful conditions under which miners work. Besides, the intimidating work environment in the mines has been insinuated to invoke a sense of helplessness, fatalism and hence defensive causal attributions for accident occurrences. Method: This study compared causal attributions between accident victims in Ghana's mining industry with their counterparts in textile factories. T values and Chi-square were employed to test for statistically significant differences between the two groups of accident victims. Results: Findings indicate that there is no difference between the causal attributions for miners and non-miners. Impact on Industry: Accident frequency and occupational type have no impact on causal attributions.  相似文献

为防止煤矿工人吸入过量粉尘而导致职业性尘肺病,基于Keras框架利用YOLOv4 (you only look once)目标检测算法对井下人员佩戴防尘口罩情况进行高精度且快速的检测与识别,并与MTCNN(Multi-task convolutional neural network)和FaceNet构成的人脸识别算法相结合,进行煤矿工人口罩佩戴监测的研究。结果表明:模型对井下人员口罩佩戴有较高的检测精度,识别已佩戴口罩的矿井下作业人员的平均精度达到92.78%,识别未佩戴防尘口罩检测的平均精度为91.63%,与其他主流算法相比算法具有更好的鲁棒性和检测效果。研究结果为预防煤矿工人职业性尘肺病提供1种有效的技术手段。  相似文献

Problem: Outcome measures for safety training effectiveness research often do not include measures such as occupational injury experience. Effectiveness mediators also receive sparse attention. Method: A new safety training curriculum was delivered to workers in a stratified random sample of food service facilities across three companies. A similar group of facilities received usual training. We collected post-test measures of demographic variables, safety knowledge, perceptions of transfer of training climate, and workers' compensation claim data for one year after the initial training activities. Results: Knowledge test scores were apparently higher in the new-training units than in the usual-training units. Some demographic variables were inconsistently associated with these differences. Evidence for reduction of the injury rate associated with the new training was observed from two companies but only approached significance for one company. A second company revealed a similar but non-significant trend. Knowledge scores were not significantly associated with lower injury rates. Discussion: We found evidence that safety training increases knowledge and reduces injuries. We found almost no evidence of effects of training effectiveness mediators, including no relationship between safety knowledge and injury experience. Methodological issues related to conducting a large study may have influenced these results. Impact on Industry: Although safety training leads to greater knowledge and, in some cases, reduced occupational injuries, the influence of mediating variables remains to be fully explained.  相似文献

为解决由矿工情绪稳定性水平低下引起的不安全行为问题,基于复杂适应系统(CAS)理论和多主体建模与仿真(ABMS)的方法,构建矿工情绪稳定性水平提升模型。通过调节班组协调程度、组织公平程度、安全心理培训水平、受教育程度、个性特征和作业环境舒适度,在NETLOGO仿真平台上分析矿工意志强度、情绪安全倾向度以及管理者领导能力对矿工情绪稳定性水平的影响。研究表明:矿工的情绪稳定性水平提升系统是一种典型的复杂适应系统,矿工情绪稳定性水平是各主体属性相互作用的结果,作用程度存在差异。因此,煤炭企业应考虑各种因素,通过控制和改善各主体的行为以提高矿工情绪稳定性水平。  相似文献

A safety self-management intervention for mining operations   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
PROBLEM: This quasi-experimental field study examined the efficacy of a safety self-management process to increase safety-related work practices in mining operations. METHODS: After a 7-week baseline, 15 miners participated in a safety self-management training and education presentation. The participants in a prebehavior condition (n=8) recorded their intentions to engage in specific percentages of safety-related work behaviors before starting their shift for the day. In contrast, participants in a postbehavior condition (n=7) recorded their percentages of safety-related work behaviors after their shift for the day. RESULTS: During withdrawal (4 weeks), the miners did not complete any self-monitoring forms. Based on 10,905 behavioral observations, safety self-management was effective at increasing the frequency of safety-related behavior (p<.05). For the prebehavior condition, the mean percent safe score across three target behaviors increased 34.8% during intervention. Similarly, in the postbehavior condition, the mean percent safe score across three target behaviors increased 40.1% during intervention. IMPACT ON INDUSTRY: The results suggest that employees who work in relative isolation or have little oversight, compared to traditional industrial workers, may benefit from a process by which they can systematically observe themselves.  相似文献

为了有效分析煤矿作业人员不安全行为风险状况和变化趋势,提出了1种基于熵权法和集对分析耦合的矿工不安全行为风险态势分析方法。在现有的煤矿作业人员不安全行为影响因素研究的基础上,运用HFACS理论分析矿工不安全行为影响因素,构建包括4个维度12个因素的不安全行为因素集;采用熵值法和集对分析理论建立基于多元联系数的矿工不安全行为风险评估模型;以内蒙某煤矿矿工不安全行为风险评估为例,验证所构建的态势评估模型的有效性。研究结果表明:构建的风险态势评估模型可以有效分析矿工不安全行为风险状态和变化趋势。  相似文献

INTRODUCTION: This longitudinal field study was designed to encourage Appalachian coal miners in West Virginia and Pennsylvania to engage in hearing-protection behaviors. METHOD: Participants were mailed postcards that featured either a positive, negative, or neutral message on the outside of the postcard and a message encouraging hearing protection behaviors on the inside. The first posttest measurement of the effectiveness of the persuasive messages was conducted about a week after the postcards were mailed. The delayed posttest measurement was conducted six weeks later. RESULTS: Responses from 307 coal miners revealed that the positive or neutral messages generated significantly more self-reported hearing protection behaviors than the negative message. Identical results were obtained in a delayed posttest assessment of miners' self-reported hearing protection behaviors. The positive message was also more effective than either the neutral or negative message in preventing defensive mechanisms from emerging over time. IMPACT ON INDUSTRY: Positive and neutral messages were convincingly more successful than negative messages in facilitating self-reported hearing protection behaviors among coal miners. Problem: Prior research indicates that many warning symbols are poorly understood, particularly by the elderly. Method: The effectiveness of three different training conditions to improve comprehension and memory for warning symbols was assessed for younger (18–35 years of age) and older (50–67 years of age) participants. All three conditions paired the symbols with associated text during training; however they differed in the extent to which they further elaborated on the meanings of the symbols. Results: Training substantially improved accuracy and speed of responding on a comprehension test; however there was little difference among conditions. Additionally, while the magnitude of the training effect was similar for both age groups, older participants performed much more poorly than younger participants, both before (37% vs. 52% correct) and after training (68% vs. 88% correct on the immediate post-test), and found it more difficult to reject incorrect meanings (55% vs. 68% correct). Conclusion: Relatively simple training conditions can dramatically improve accuracy and speed of responding to warning symbols. Impact on industry: Training should be used to improve warning symbol comprehension since failures to adequately understand warning information may lead to injury or death. Furthermore, attempts should be made to address individual differences in warning processing such as those related to changes in cognitive processing across the lifespan.  相似文献

A behavior (work) sampling approach was used to both develop and evaluate the effectiveness of an occupational safety training program for industrial lift truck operators. Two studies, each using different experimental designs and performed at two separate warehouses, were conducted, resulting in a total of 96 operators trained. Observations through several months of training program assessment indicated that: (a) occupational safety training, emphasizing modification of operationally defined unsafe work practices derived from task/hazard analysis, can be demonstrated to be effective and to endure beyond cessation of performance feedback; (b) the basis for endurance appears to be continued practice in the modified safe work procedures, coupled with a redefinition of group norms sustained through informal influences such as peer modeling of desired behaviors and continued management support of the program; and (c) a behavior sampling procedure, specifying performancebased criteria, can be used effectively in both the development and evaluation of an occupational-safety training program.  相似文献

为进一步解释和预测矿工故意违章行为意向,寻求可能的干预对策,以计划行为理论(TPB)为基本的理论构架,加入过去行为和示范性规范2个变量,构建了矿工故意违章行为意向假设模型。采取分层随机抽样方法,对412名矿工进行问卷调查,并借助结构方程建模技术对提出的假设模型进行了验证。研究表明:违章态度、知觉行为控制、示范性规范均对故意违章行为意向有显著的正向影响;主观规范对违章行为意向没有显著的直接影响;主观规范和过去行为通过违章态度间接正向影响违章行为意向。违章态度和示范性规范对故意违章行为意向的整体影响系数比较高,转变违章态度以及发挥群体其他成员遵章行为的示范性是降低故意违章行为意向的重要途径。  相似文献

为探明矿工不安全行为形成机制,控制不安全行为,在计划行为理论(TPB)和健康行动过程取向理论(HAPA)的基础上构建矿工不安全行为整合理论模型,通过问卷对468名矿工进行不安全行为调查,并利用结构方程模型对理论模型进行实证检验,结果表明:行动效能、主观规范、风险知觉、结果期待、态度对矿工不安全行为意向具有显著影响;行为态度是社会性规范、示范性规范、结果期待以及风险知觉与行为意向之间的中介变量;应对计划对于不安全行为具有正向影响;矿工不安全行为的形成源于DARF机制,包括以行为意向为核心的动力机制(D)、以应对计划为核心的行动机制(A)、以应对自我效能为核心的制约机制(R)、以主观规范为核心的反馈机制(F)。  相似文献

PROBLEM: It is estimated that 5 to 10 arc flash explosions occur in electric equipment every day in the United States. In the mining industry the largest single injury category of electrical injuries are caused by non-contact electrical arcs. METHOD: This investigation progressed in two phases: (a) 836 Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) reports of electric arcing incidents that occurred over a period of 11 years were reviewed, and (b) personal interviews were conducted with 32 individuals. A theoretical Safe Job Performance Model guided the study. RESULTS: Behavioral dimensions were identified and included the effect of worker experience, judgment and decision-making ability, behavioral and organizational controls, and safety culture. SUMMARY: The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) conducted an investigation of behavioral components associated with arc flash incidents and developed recommendations for interventions based on findings. IMPACT ON INDUSTRY: This study fills a vacuum in electrical training with a focus on the organizational and behavioral aspects of arc flash incidents. The research is cross-cutting in its scope, in that the results apply not only to mining and construction, but many other industries employing electricians. Although the majority of mine electrical injuries are the results of burns from electrical arcs, few miners are aware that such a hazard exists. A safety training program, which includes a video and an instructor's discussion guide, was developed for electricians based on this study's findings. Problem: This study examined deaths of construction workers due to personnel lifts (boom-supported and scissor lifts, suspended scaffolds, and crane platforms). Methods: Deaths of construction workers for 1992–1999 were examined using data from the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries, a Bureau of Labor Statistics database. Results: The study identified 339 deaths: 42% from boom-supported lifts; 26% from suspended scaffolds; 19% from scissor lifts; 5% from crane platforms; and 7% from unapproved lifts (e.g., forklift platforms). The main causes of death were falls (36%), collapses/tipovers (29%), and electrocutions (21%). Discussion: Recommendations include: following OSHA regulations, wearing personal fall protection equipment, adequate maintenance, inspection before use, and training on the model of lift used. Precautions are also needed to prevent contact with overhead power lines. Impact on industry: The increasing popularity of boom-supported lifts and scissor lifts, both in construction and other industries, make their safety an important issue.  相似文献

为研究煤矿井下环境相对封闭、空间相对有限的情况下,噪声对作业人员的影响及危害,通过问卷调查的形式,分别对开滦集团东欢坨及荆各庄2煤矿井下5个不同作业区人员进行了共计200份的噪声危害问卷调查。将问卷调查结果通过SPSS软件进行统计与分析,并将SPSS分析得到的数据用于分析井下噪声对作业人员的影响及危害,归纳出噪声对作业人员的影响因素,并对噪声、影响因素及症状之间建立了井下噪声对作业人员影响的理论关系模型。结果表明:在井下有限空间内,噪声对作业人员的危害最严重的症状是耳鸣,危害最轻的症状是畏惧感;参与调查的多为年龄较大、工龄较长的作业人员,噪声对工龄较长者的危害程度要大于对年龄较大者,且工龄与噪声危害之间存在Pearson相关性系数大于0的正相关关系。  相似文献

矿工在煤矿井下的生产过程是对外界信息的加工处理过程。矿工能否正确处理外界刺激,将直接产生安全或不安全行为,影响煤矿安全生产,甚至引发重大事故。在认知心理学视角下,应用感觉、注意和记忆理论对矿工行为的形成机制进行分析,建立矿工信息加工模型,并对模型的特点和作用进行分析,同时指出该模型存在的不足。信息加工模型的建立与分析可为安全管理措施的制定及安全培训内容及环节的设计提供理论依据。  相似文献

This research examined the intervention effects of a simple one-hour training session designed to raise the awareness of noise as a workplace hazard in conjunction with general safety perceptions and attitudes in the workplace. Several sessions were conducted for two organizations, at different locations. Control groups were also employed with both organizations. Participants were questioned using a ‘safety climate’ questionnaire and a ‘noise at work’ questionnaire. The results indicated that awareness of noise as a workplace hazard can be significantly increased with a simple intervention.  相似文献
