Using the Global Biosphere Emissions and Interactions System model (GloBEIS), 3 × 3 km gridded and hourly biogenic volatile organic compound (BVOC) emissions in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) were estimated for the year 2006. The study used newly available land cover database, observed meteorological data, and recent measurements of emission rates for tree species in China. The results show that the total BVOC emission in the PRD region in 2006 was 296 kt (2.2 × 1011 gC), of which isoprene contributes about 25% (73 kt, 6.4 × 1010 gC), monoterpenes about 34% (102 kt, 8.9 × 1010 gC), and other VOCs (OVOC) about 41% (121 kt, 6.8 × 1010 gC). BVOC emissions in the PRD region exhibit a marked seasonal pattern with the peak emission in July and the lowest emission in January, and are mainly distributed over the outlying areas of the PRD region, where the economy and land use are less developed. The uncertainties in BVOC emission estimates were quantified using Monte Carlo simulation; the results indicate high uncertainties in isoprene emission estimates, with a relative error of ?82 to +177%, ranging from 12.4 to 186.4 kt; ?41 to +58% uncertainty for monoterpenes emissions, ranging from 67.7 to 181.9 kt; and ?26 to +30% uncertainty in OVOC emissions, ranging from 88.8 to 156.2 kt on the 95% confidence intervals. The key uncertainty sources include emission factors and the model empirical coefficients α, CT1, CL, and Eopt for estimating isoprene emission, and emission factors and foliar density for estimating monoterpenes and OVOC emissions. This implies that determining these empirical coefficient values properly and conducting more field measurements of emission rates of tree species are key approaches for reducing uncertainties in BVOC emission estimates. Improving future BVOC emission inventory work in the PRD region requires giving priority to research on shrub land, coniferous forests, and irrigated cropland and pasture.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Previously reported volatile organic compounds (VOC) radiocarbon (14C) measurements for 1992 summertime Atlanta, GA, have been compared with chromatographic data and emissions inventory predictions. The chromatographic approach that was used provided a more comprehensive VOC characterization than typically achieved, and the emissions inventory was research-grade level (date-, site-, and time-specific). The comparisons are in general agreement that biogenic emissions contribute only modestly (<10%) to the VOC content of the particular ambient samples that were collected and measured. The choices of sampling site (near city-center) and times (early morning and late evening) are major influences on the results, which consequently should not be regarded as representing the average VOC biogenic impact for the Atlanta area.  相似文献

We determined hourly emissions of isoprene, monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes from Siberian larch, one of the major tree species in Siberian forests. Summer volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emission from Siberian larch consisted mainly of monoterpenes (about 90%). The monoterpene emission spectrum remained constant during the measurement period, almost half was sabinene and other major monoterpenes were Δ3-carene, β- and α-pinene. During spring and summer, about 10% of the VOCs were sesquiterpenes, mainly α-farnesene. The sesquiterpene emissions declined to 3% in the fall. Isoprene, 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol (MBO) and 1,8-cineole contributed to less than 3% of the VOC emission during the whole period. The diurnal variation of the emissions could be explained using a temperature-dependent parameterization. Emission potentials normalized to 30 °C were 5.2–21 μg gdw−1 h−1 (using β-value of 0.09 °C−1) for monoterpenes and 0.4–1.8 μg gdw−1 h−1 (using β-value of 0.143 °C−1, mean of determined values) for sesquiterpenes. Normalized monoterpene emission potentials were highest in late summer and elevated again in late fall. Sesquiterpene emission potentials were also highest in late summer, but decreased towards fall.  相似文献

On the basis of the last inventory of forests and climatic conditions in Poland, a national evaluation of the emissions of reactive volatile organic compounds (VOCs) was carried out. Calculations took into account the composition and age structure of forests as well as the temperature dependencies of VOC emission rate for the main European forest-forming tree species. In the case of isoprene, the dependence on illumination level and day length was also taken into account. Estimations were made for all 49 administrative regions of Poland. Depending on weather conditions in different years, the total VOC emission of Polish forests can be in the range 186–763 kt yr−1. For instance, for a moderately warm year, 1992, it was estimated at 440.6 kt, which represents 25% of the total VOC emissions in Poland.  相似文献

Seasonal variations of biogenic volatile organic compound (VOC) emission rates and standardised emission factors from gorse (Ulex europaeus) have been measured at two sites in the United Kingdom, from October 1994 to September 1995, within temperature and PAR conditions ranging from 3 to 34°C and 10–1300 μmol m−2 s−1, respectively. Isoprene was the dominant emitted compound with a relative composition fluctuating from 7% of the total VOC (winter) to 97% (late summer). The monoterpenes α-pinene, camphene, sabinene, β-pinene, myrcene, limonene, trans-ocimene and γ-terpinene were also emitted, with α-pinene being the dominant monoterpene during most the year. Trans-ocimene represented 33–66% of the total monoterpene during the hottest months from June to September. VOC emissions were found to be accurately predicted using existing algorithms. Standard (normalised) emission factors of VOCs from gorse were calculated using experimental parameters measured during the experiment and found to fluctuate with season, from 13.3±2.1 to 0.1±0.1 μg C (g dwt)−1 h−1 in August 1995 and January 1995, respectively, for isoprene, and from 2.5±0.2 to 0.4±0.2 μg C (g dwt)−1 h−1 in July and November 1995, respectively, for total monoterpenes. No simple clear relation was found to allow prediction of these seasonal variations with respect to temperature and light intensity. The effects of using inappropriate algorithms to derive VOC fluxes from gorse were assessed for isoprene and monoterpenes. Although on an annual basis the discrepancies are not significant, monthly estimation of isoprene were found to be overestimated by more than a factor of 50 during wintertime when the seasonality of emission factors is not considered.  相似文献

Biogenic VOC emission estimates from the earth's surface are crucial input parameters in air quality models. Knowledge accumulated in the last years about BVOC source distributions and chemical compound species emission profiles in Europe as well as the demand of air quality modellers for a finer resolution in space and time of BVOC estimates have led to the set-up of new emission modelling systems. An updated fast BVOC emission modelling platform explicitly considering the seasonality of emission potentials and leaf temperature gradients in forest canopies by the semi-empirical emission module (seBVOC) will be proposed and used for estimating hourly values of chemical compound-specific emissions in Europe (33–68° north; 10° west to 40° east) in the years 1997, 2000, 2001, and 2003. Spatial resolution will be 10 km by 10 km. The database used contains latest land and forest distributions, updated foliar biomass densities, leaf area indices (LAI), and plant as well as chemical compound-specific emission potentials, if available. Meteorological input parameters for the respective years will be generated using the non-hydrostatic meteorological model MM5. Highest BVOC emissions occur in daytime hours around noon from the end of May to mid-August in the Mediterranean area and from the mid of June to the end of July in the boreal forests. Comparison of 3 BVOC model approaches will reveal that for July 2003, the European isoprene and monoterpene totals range from 1124 Gg to 1446 Gg and from 338 Gg to 1112 Gg, respectively. Small-scale deviations may be as high as ±0.6 Mg km?2 for July 2003, reflecting the current uncertainty range for BVOC estimates. Key sources of errors in inventories are still insufficiently detailed land use data for some areas and lacking chemically speciated plant-specific emission potentials in particular in boreal, south-eastern, and northern African landscapes. The hourly emissions of isoprene, speciated terpenes, and oxyVOC have been made available by the NatAir database.  相似文献

Acetone is a ubiquitous component of the atmosphere which, by its photolysis, can play an important role in photochemical reactions in the free troposphere. This paper investigates the biogenic source of acetone from Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) and Norway spruce (Picea abies) in the Scandinavian boreal zone. Branch emission measurements of acetone, monoterpenes, and isoprene were made with an all-Teflon flow-through branch chamber from five specimens of Scots pine at three sites in Sweden and Finland, and from one specimen of Norway spruce at one site in Sweden. Acetone samples were taken with SepPak™ DNPH cartridges, monoterpenes with Tenax TA, and isoprene with 3 l electropolished canisters. Acetone was found to dominate the carbonyl emission of both Scots pine and Norway spruce, as large as the monoterpene emissions and for Norway spruce, as the isoprene emission. The average standard emission rate (30°C) and average β-coefficient for the temperature correlation for 5 specimens of Scots pine were 870 ng C gdw−1 h−1 (gdw=gram dry weight) and 0.12, respectively. For the monoterpenes the values were 900 ng C gdw−1 h−1 and 0.12, respectively. The standard emission rate (30°C) for acetone from Norway spruce was 265 ng C gdw−1 h−1, but the sparsity of data, along with the unusual weather conditions at the time of the measurements, precludes the establishment of a summertime best estimate emission factor.  相似文献

Biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) in the atmosphere react to form ozone and secondary organic aerosols, which deteriorate air quality, affect human health, and indirectly influence global climate changes. The present study aims to provide a preliminary assessment of BVOC emissions in Hong Kong (HKSAR). Thriteen local tree species were measured for their isoprene emission potential. Tree distribution was estimated for country park areas based on field survey data. Plant emission data obtained from measurements and the literature, tree distribution estimation data, land use information, and meteorological data were combined to estimate annual BVOC emissions of 8.6×109 g C for Hong Kong. Isoprene, monoterpenes, and other VOCs contributed about 30%, 40%, and 30% of the estimated total annual emissions, respectively. Although hundreds of plant species are found in Hong Kong country parks, the model results indicate that only 10 tree species contribute about 76% of total annual VOC emissions. Prominent seasonal and diurnal variations in emissions were also predicted by the model. The present study lays a solid foundation for future local research, and results can be applied for studying BVOC emissions in nearby southern China and Asian regions that share similar climate and plant distributions.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Pig production systems in China are shifting from small to industrial scale. Significant variation in housing ammonia (NH3) emissions can exist due to differences in diet, housing design, and management practices. However, there is a knowledge gap regarding the impacts of farm-scale in China, which may be critical in identifying hotspots and mitigation targets. Here, continuous in-situ NH3 concentration measurements were made at pig farms of different scales for sows and fattening pigs over periods of 3–6 days during two different seasons (summer vs. winter). For the sow farms, NH3 emission rates were greater at the small farm (summer: 0.52 g pig?1 hr?1; winter: 0.21 g pig?1 hr?1) than at the large farm (summer: 0.34 g pig?1 hr?1; winter: 0.12 g pig?1 hr?1). For the fattening pig farms, NH3 emission rates were greater at the large farm (summer: 0.22 g pig?1 hr?1; winter: 0.16 g pig?1 hr?1) than at the small farm (summer: 0.19 g pig?1 hr?1; winter: 0.07 g pig?1 hr?1). Regardless of farm scale, the NH3 emission rates measured in summer were greater than those in winter; the NH3 emission rates were greater in the daytime than at the nighttime; a positive relationship (R2 = 0.06–0.68) was established between temperature and NH3 emission rate, whereas a negative relationship (R2 = 0.10–0.47) was found between relative humidity and NH3 emission rate. The effect of farm-scale on indoor NH3 concentration could mostly be explained by the differences in ventilation rates between farms. The diurnal variation in NH3 concentration could be partly explained by ventilation rate (R2 = 0.48–0.78) in the small traditional farms and by emission rate (R2 = 0.26–0.85) in the large industrial farms, except for the large fattening pig farm in summer. Overall, mitigation of NH3 emissions from sow farms should be a top priority in the North China Plain.

Implications: The present study firstly examined the farm-scale effect of ammonia emissions in the North China Plain. Of all farms, the sow farm was identified as the greatest source of ammonia emission. Regardless of farm scale, ammonia emission rates were observed to be higher in summer. Ammonia concentrations were mostly higher in the large industrial farms partly due to lower ventilation rates than in the small traditional farms.  相似文献

We describe an experimental system and techniques for sampling and analyzing biogenic emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC). The system uses a Teflon chamber to enclose a single branch of a tree. Temperature, photosynthetic active radiation (PAR), relative humidity and carbon dioxide concentration are continuously monitored with a time resolution of five minutes. VOCs are sampled on tubes containing solid adsorbents (Tenax TA and Carbotrap) with a time resolution of 1 h. Composition and concentration of VOC emissions are measured with a gas chromatographic system equipped with a flame ionization detector (FID) for quantitative and a mass spectrometer (MS) for qualitative analysis. To calibrate the system, a diffusion source was built to produce standard mixtures of up to 36 different compounds with mixing ratios at low concentrations and high accuracy. The diffusion rates were monitored over 17 months and showed variations between 0.2 and 7.6% for monoterpenes (expect for α-phellandrene, α-terpinene and γ-terpinene) and between 10.6 and 22.6% for sesquiterpenes. FID response factors calculated from calibration measurements were corrected using correction factors based on the effective carbon number concept. The individual response factors of 23 compounds were combined to a mean response factor (RFm) with a value of 23,100 μV s ng−1 and a standard deviation of 9%. The system described here was used to measure VOC emission rates of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) in 1998 and 1999.  相似文献

Eucalypts are among the highest emitters of biogenic volatile organic compounds, yet there is relatively little data available from field studies of this genus. Emissions of isoprene, monoterpenes and the short-chained carbonyls formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acetone were determined from four species (Eucalyptus camaldulensis, Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus grandis, and Eucalytpus viminalis) in Australia. A smaller comparative study was conducted on E. camaldulensis in south-eastern Australia. Carbonyl emissions, reported here for the first time from eucalypts, were generally comparable with rates reported for other species, with diurnal emissions peaking at about 4, 75 and 34 nmol m?2 min?1 for acetone, formaldehyde and acetaldehyde respectively. There was wide variation in diurnal isoprene and monoterpene emissions between species, but under standard conditions, isoprene emissions were much lower than previous reports. Conversely, standard emission rates of monoterpenes were as much as six times greater than previous reports for some species. Emission of each carbonyl was correlated with its ambient concentration across different species, but more weakly related to temperature. Acetaldehyde emission in particular was significantly correlated with transpiration, but not with sap flow or with ethanol concentrations in xylem sap, suggesting fermentation within the leaf and stomatal conductance are primary controlling processes. Differences in acetaldehyde exchange velocities between sites, in addition to transpiration differences, suggest stomata may indeed exert long term emission regulation, in contrast to compounds for which no biological sink exists.  相似文献

In order to investigate the secondary organic aerosol (SOA) response to changes in biogenic volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions in the future atmosphere and how important will SOA be relative to the major anthropogenic aerosol component (sulfate), the global three-dimensional chemistry/transport model TM3 has been used. Emission estimates of biogenic VOC (BVOC) and anthropogenic gases and particles from the literature for the year 2100 have been adopted.According to our present-day model simulations, isoprene oxidation produces 4.6 Tg SOA yr−1, that is less than half of the 12.2 Tg SOA yr−1 formed by the oxidation of other BVOC. In the future, nitrate radicals and ozone become more important than nowadays, but remain minor oxidants for both isoprene and aromatics. SOA produced by isoprene is estimated to almost triple, whereas the production from other BVOC more than triples. The calculated future SOA burden change, from 0.8 Tg at present to 2.0 Tg in the future, is driven by changes in emissions, oxidant levels and pre-existing particles. The non-linearity in SOA formation and the involved chemical and physical feedbacks prohibit the quantitative attribution of the computed changes to the above-mentioned individual factors. In 2100, SOA burden is calculated to exceed that of sulfate, indicating that SOA might become more important than nowadays. These results critically depend on the biogenic emissions and thus are subject to the high uncertainty associated with these emissions estimated due to the insufficient knowledge on plant response to carbon dioxide changes. Nevertheless, they clearly indicate that the change in oxidants and primary aerosol caused by human activities can contribute as much as the change in BVOC emissions to the increase of the biogenic SOA production in the future atmosphere.  相似文献

To study the impact of emissions at an airport on local air quality, a measurement campaign at the Zurich airport was performed from 30 June 2004 to 15 July 2004. Measurements of NO, NO2, CO and CO2 were conducted with open path devices to determine real in-use emission indices of aircraft during idling. Additionally, air samples were taken to analyse the mixing ratios of volatile organic compounds (VOC). Temporal variations of VOC mixing ratios on the airport were investigated, while other air samples were taken in the plume of an aircraft during engine ignition. CO concentrations in the vicinity of the terminals were found to be highly dependent on aircraft movement, whereas NO concentrations were dominated by emissions from ground support vehicles. The measured emission indices for aircraft showed a strong dependence upon engine type. Our work also revealed differences from emission indices published in the emission data base of the International Civil Aviation Organisation. Among the VOC, reactive C2–C3 alkenes were found in significant amounts in the exhaust of an engine compared to ambient levels. Also, isoprene, a VOC commonly associated with biogenic emissions, was found in the exhaust, however it was not detected in refuelling emissions. The benzene to toluene ratio was used to discriminate exhaust from refuelling emission. In refuelling emissions, a ratio well below 1 was found, while for exhaust this ratio was usually about 1.7.  相似文献

With the rapid urbanization, the southeast coastal cities of China are facing increasing air pollution in the past decades. Large emissions of VOCs from vehicles and petrochemical factories have contributed greatly to the local air quality deterioration. Investigating the pollution characteristics of VOCs is of great significance to the environmental risk assessment and air quality improvement. Ambient VOC samples were collected simultaneously from nine coastal cities of southeast China using the Tedlar bags, and were subsequently preprocessed and analyzed using a cryogenic preconcentrator and a gas chromatography–mass spectrometry system, respectively. VOC compositions, spatial distributions, seasonal variations and ozone formation potentials (OPFs) were discussed. Results showed that methylene chloride, toluene, isopropyl alcohol and n-hexane were most abundant species, and oxygenated compounds, aromatics and halogenated hydrocarbons were most abundant chemical classes (62.5–95.6 % of TVOCs). Both industrial and vehicular exhausts might contribute greatly to the VOC emissions. The VOC levels in the southeast coastal cities of China were sufficiently high (e.g., 6.5 μg?m?3 for benzene) to pose a health risk to local people. A more serious pollution state was found in the southern cities of the study region, while higher VOC levels were usually observed in winter. The B/T ratio (0.26?±?0.09) was lower than the typical ratio (ca. 0.6) for roadside samples, while the B/E (1.6–7.6) and T/E (7.2–26.8) ratios were higher than other cities around the world, which indicated a unique emission profile in the study region. Besides, analysis on ozone formation potentials (OFPs) indicated that toluene was the most important species in ozone production with the accountabilities for total OFPs of 22.6 to 59.6 %.  相似文献

Research over the past ten years has created a more detailed and coherent view of the relation between O3 and its major anthropogenic precursors, volatile organic compounds (VOC) and oxides of nitrogen (NOx). This article presents a review of insights derived from photochemical models and field measurements. The ozone–precursor relationship can be understood in terms of a fundamental split into a NOx-senstive and VOC-sensitive (or NOx-saturated) chemical regimes. These regimes are associated with the chemistry of odd hydrogen radicals and appear in different forms in studies of urbanized regions, power plant plumes and the remote troposphere. Factors that affect the split into NOx-sensitive and VOC-sensitive chemistry include: VOC/NOx ratios, VOC reactivity, biogenic hydrocarbons, photochemical aging, and rates of meteorological dispersion. Analyses of ozone–NOx–VOC sensitivity from 3D photochemical models show a consistent pattern, but predictions for the impact of reduced NOx and VOC in indivdual locations are often very uncertain. This uncertainty can be identified by comparing predictions from different model scenarios that reflect uncertainties in meteorology, anthropogenic and biogenic emissions. Several observation-based approaches have been proposed that seek to evaluate ozone–NOx–VOC sensitivity directly from ambient measurements (including ambient VOC, reactive nitrogen, and peroxides). Observation-based approaches have also been used to evaluate emission rates, ozone production efficiency, and removal rates of chemically active species. Use of these methods in combination with models can significantly reduce the uncertainty associated with model predictions.  相似文献

Characterising sources and sinks of rural VOC in eastern France   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Fifty non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC) and seventeen carbonyl compounds were measured at a French rural site from 1997 to 2001, as part of the EMEP programme. Data handling was based on an original source-receptor approach. First, the examination of the levels and trends was completed by the comparison of the seasonal distribution of rural and urban VOC/acetylene ambient ratios. This analysis has shown that most of the compounds derived from mixing and photochemical transformation of mid-range transported urban pollutants from the downwind urban area. Then, identified sources and sinks were temporally apportioned. Urban air masses mixing explains, at least, 80% of the wintertime levels of anthropogenic NMHC and isoprene. In summer, photochemistry dominates the day-to-day distribution of anthropogenic NMHC whilst summertime isoprene is also controlled by in-situ biogenic emissions. Then, the results of C(1)-C(3) carbonyls were discussed with respect to their direct biogenic and anthropogenic emissions and photochemical production through the [carbonyl/auto-exhaust tracers] emission ratio. Diluted vehicle exhaust emissions mainly contribute to the total content of lower aldehydes in winter while other processes control lower ketones. Secondary production is predominant in summer with at least a 50% high intensity. Its dependence upon temperature and radiation is also demonstrated. Finally, the importance of the primary and secondary biogenic production of acetone and formaldehyde is assessed. In particular, biogenic contribution would explain 37 +/- 25% of acetone levels in summer.  相似文献

Reactive volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are known to affect atmospheric chemistry. Biogenic VOCs (BVOCs) have a significant impact on regional air quality due to their large emission rates and high reactivities. Diterpenes (most particularly, kaur-16-ene) were detected in all of the 205 enclosure air samples collected over multiple seasons at two different sites from Cryptomeria japonica and Chamaecyparis obtusa trees, the dominant coniferous trees in Japan,. The emission rate of kaur-16-ene, was determined to be from 0.01 to 7.1 μg dwg−1 h−1 (average: 0.61 μg dwg−1 h−1) employing branch enclosure measurements using adsorbent sampling followed by solid phase-liquid extraction techniques. The emission rate was comparable to that of monoterpenes, which is known major BVOC emissions, collected from the same branches. In addition, total emission of kaur-16-ene at 30 °C was estimated to exceed that of total anthropogenic VOC emissions.  相似文献

A spatially and temporally resolved biogenic hydrocarbon and nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions inventory has been developed for a region along the Mexico-U.S. border area. Average daily biogenic non-methane organic gases (NMOG) emissions for the 1700 x 1000 km2 domain were estimated at 23,800 metric tons/day (62% from Mexico and 38% from the United States), and biogenic NOx was estimated at 1230 metric tons/day (54% from Mexico and 46% from the United States) for the July 18-20, 1993, ozone episode. The biogenic NMOG represented 74% of the total NMOG emissions, and biogenic NOx was 14% of the total NOx. The CIT photochemical airshed model was used to assess how biogenic emissions impact air quality. Predicted ground-level ozone increased by 5-10 ppb in most rural areas, 10-20 ppb near urban centers, and 20-30 ppb immediately downwind of the urban centers compared to simulations in which only anthropogenic emissions were used. A sensitivity analysis of predicted ozone concentration to emissions was performed using the decoupled direct method for three dimensional air quality models (DDM-3D). The highest positive sensitivity of ground-level ozone concentration to biogenic volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions (i.e., increasing biogenic VOC emissions results in increasing ozone concentrations) was predicted to be in locations with high NOx levels, (i.e., the urban areas). One urban center--Houston--was predicted to have a slight negative sensitivity to biogenic NO emissions (i.e., increasing biogenic NO emissions results in decreasing local ozone concentrations). The highest sensitivities of ozone concentrations to on-road mobile source VOC emissions, all positive, were mainly in the urban areas. The highest sensitivities of ozone concentrations to on-road mobile source NOx emissions were predicted in both urban (either positive or negative sensitivities) and rural (positive sensitivities) locations.  相似文献

This paper describes a method of estimating emission fluxes of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) based on the approach proposed by Guenther et al. (1995) and the high-resolution Corine land-cover 2000 database (1 × 1 km resolution). The computed emission fluxes for the Czech Republic (selected for analysis as being representative of a heavily cultivated, central European country) are compared with anthropogenic emissions, both for the entire country and for individual administrative regions. In some regions, BVOC emissions are as high as anthropogenic emissions; however, in most regions the BVOC emissions are approximately 50% of the anthropogenic emissions. The yearly course of BVOC emissions (represented by monoterpenes and isoprene) is presented, along with the spatial distribution of annual mean values. Differences in emission distributions during winter (January) and summer (June) are also considered.  相似文献

We present the first estimates of speciated monoterpene emissions from the North European coniferous forests. Measured emission factors and emission profiles of boreal tree species (Picea abies, Pinus sylvestris, Betula pendula, Salix phylicifolia, Populus tremula, and Alnus incana) were used together with detailed satellite land cover information and meteorological data in an emission model based on the Guenther emission algorithms. The variation of the coniferous biomass within the boreal region (60°N to 70°N) was obtained from forest inventory data, and the seasonal variability of the deciduous biomass was taken into account through simple boreal climatology parameterisation. The annual biogenic emissions in the boreal zone are dominated by coniferous species, but in the summer months, the deciduous contribution to the monoterpene and isoprene emissions is considerable. Norway spruce (Picea abies) is the most important isoprene emitter in the north European boreal forests. The biogenic emission fluxes in the South boreal zone are approximately twice as high as fluxes in the North boreal zone. α- and β-pinene, carene, and cineole are the most abundant emitted terpenes, with a strong contribution of isoprene and linalool during the summer months.  相似文献
