We studied the effect of a developing Skeletonema marinoi/Phaeocystis spp. bloom on Calanus finmarchicus hatching success, early naupliar survival and metabolism. Our focus was (1) on the development of reproductive rates during
a bloom initiation, peak and decline in relation to the production of potentially toxic algal metabolites and (2) on the proportional
importance of female nutrition versus naupliar food environment for the production of viable nauplii. Despite polyunsaturated
aldehyde (PUA) production by both S. marinoi and Phaeocystis sp., we did not observe any harmful effects on hatching success or naupliar survival and condition in any stages of the short-term
(<1 week) algal bloom. Hatching success appeared to be controlled by egg lipid composition, while the beneficial effect of
a high food concentration was reflected in naupliar RNA:DNA ratio, protein content and total production of viable nauplii.
The egg lipids reflected seston lipids, indicating that the egg fatty acid composition was not modified by the females. Our
results suggest that unselective feeding and/or retention of specific lipids can induce qualitative food limitation, although
recruitment during the S. marinoi/Phaeocystis sp. bloom was high. 相似文献

Temora stylifera adult copepods were fed with four different monoalgal diets and six combinations of the same cultures for 15 days. Fecundity,
hatching success, number of cannibalized embryos, fecal pellet production, adult mortality and naupliar recruitment were compared,
in order to find the best diet for this species. Phytoplankton species tested were Prorocentrum minimum (PRO); Isochrysis galbana (ISO); Tetraselmis suecica (TETRA) and Rhodomonas baltica (RHO) which were supplied alone or in different combinations and at various concentrations ranging from a minimum of 1 mg C L−1 day−1 to a maximum of 66 mg C L−1 day−1. Of the ten diets tested, ISO was the worst and was unable to sustain egg production and adult survival possibly because
adults were unable to ingest this alga due to its small size. TETRA was also a poor food since it negatively impacted egg
production and adult survival, as well as egg hatching success, possibly due to the lack of essential compounds necessary
for optimal embryogenesis. RHO and PRO were the best foods inducing highest egg production, hatching success and naupliar
recruitment. Even if mean egg production rates were similar to those obtained with some mixed diets, carbon intake concentrations
with mixed diets were from 3 to 33 and from 6.6 to 66 times higher than with RHO and PRO given alone, respectively. Mixed
diets of ISO and PRO, especially when supplied at higher concentrations (66 mg C L−1 day−1), had a negative effect on egg hatching success and adult survival, with a corresponding reduction in naupliar recruitment.
On the other hand, mixed diets of TETRA and PRO promoted high naupliar recruitment but values were similar to PRO offered
alone. Our results indicate that a good monoalgal diet such as RHO and PRO can be as effective as a mixed diet to sustain
the mass cultivation of T. stylifera. 相似文献

The functional response of the aspects of reproductive success of a southwestern Baltic population of Acartia tonsa (Copepoda: Calanoida) was quantified in the laboratory using wide ranges in temperatures and salinities. Specifically, daily
egg production (EP, # female−1 day−1) was determined for 4 or 5 days at 18 different temperatures between 5 and 34°C and the time course and success of hatching
were evaluated at 10 different temperatures between 5 and 23°C. The effect of salinity (0 to 34 psu) on egg hatching success
was also examined. The highest mean rates of EP were observed between 22 and 23°C (46.8–50.9 eggs female−1 day−1). When studied at 18 psu, hatching success of eggs increased with increasing temperature and was highest (92.2%) at 23°C.
No hatching was observed for eggs incubated at low temperatures (≤12°C) that were produced by females acclimated to temperatures
≤10°C indicating a possible thermal threshold between 10.0 and 13.0°C below which only the production of diapause (or low
quality) eggs exists in this population. When tested at 18°C, the hatching success of eggs incubated at 15 different salinities
increased asymptotically with increasing salinity and was maximal (81.4–84.5%) between 17 and 25 psu. The high reproductive
success observed over wide ranges in temperatures and salinities in this Baltic population demonstrates one of the mechanisms
responsible for the cosmopolitan distribution of this species within productive, estuarine and marine habitats. 相似文献

Growth and development rates were determined for nauplii of Calanus finmarchicus (Gunnerus) in the near-shore waters of a western Norwegian fjord from in situ mesocosm incubations. The major food source
for the nauplii was diatoms, but Phaeocystis sp., dinoflagellates and ciliates were also part of the diet. At local temperatures ranging from 4.8 to 5.2 °C the cumulative
median development time from hatching to Nauplius VI was 19 d. The time taken to molt to the next naupliar stage was approximately
constant (3 d) from Stages IV to VI, but Stage III needed the longest development time (5 d). The instantaneous growth rate
in terms of body carbon was negative from hatching to Nauplius Stage II, but as high as 0.25 to 0.30 d−1 from Stage III to V. Enhancement of food resources by nutrient addition led to no significant change in specific growth rates.
Additionally, the cohorts from different nutrient regimes showed almost equal development time, size and body carbon within
stages. Length–weight relationships of nauplii from the two different food resources were: W

final molt from Nauplius VI to Copepodid Stage I. In general, development of the nauplii was faster than that of the copepodids
of C. finmarchicus, and structural growth was exponential from naupliar stages III to VI. This study validates our earlier results that nauplii
of C. finmarchicus can obtain high growth and nearly maximal developmental rates at relatively low food levels (∼50 μg C l−1), suggesting that nauplii exhibit far less dependence on food supply than copepodids.

Egg and faecal pellet production and egg hatching success of the calanoid copepod Calanus finmarchicus were monitored over a period of 14?days (14?C28 April, 2008) while fed water from 4 differently treated mesocosms and ambient water. Two of the mesocosms used were inoculated with the polyunsaturated aldehyde (PUA)-producing diatom Skeletonema marinoi, while 2 received only nutrient additions with or without silica. The mesocosms developed blooms of S. marinoi, mixed diatoms or the haptophyte Phaeocystis pouchetii, respectively. Faecal pellet production of C. finmarchicus increased with increasing food availability. Egg production increased with time in all mesocosms to a maximum single female production of 232 eggs female?1?day?1 (average of 90 eggs female?1?day?1) and followed the development of ciliates and P. pouchetii, but was not affected by the observed high (up to 15?nmol?L?1) PUA production potential of the phytoplankton. The hatching success of the eggs produced on the mesocosm diets was high (78?C96%) and was not affected by either aldehydes in the maternal diet or exposure to the dissolved aldehydes in the water. 相似文献

A comparative study of the inhibitory effect of diatoms on the reproductive biology of the copepod Temora stylifera 总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
Egg production and viability in the copepod Temora stylifera (collected in the Bay of Naples, Italy in 1992) were strongly dependent on food type. A flagellate (Isochrysis galbana) diet induced the production of good quality eggs that developed to hatching. By contrast, two diatoms (Chaetoceros curvisetum, Phaeodactylum tricornutum) resulted in poor egg quality, with hatching success as low as 20% of total egg production. With the third diatom tested, Skeletonema costatum, females produced eggs for only 3 to 4 d, after which time they either became sterile or died. These results are discussed in relation to previous findings regarding the impact of the dinoflagellate Prorocentrum minimum and the diatom Thalassiosira rotula on the hatching success of T. stylifera eggs. Low egg viability was possibly not due to an absence of remating or a deficiency of some specific essential nutrient required for egg development but to the presence of inhibitory compounds blocking cell division during early copepod embryogenesis. The effect of temperature on the development and hatching of resting eggs of the Ponto-Caspian Cercopagis pengoi was studied experimentally in the Gulf of Finland, Baltic Sea. Morphological changes were monitored as the development of
the resting eggs proceeded. Sexual reproduction of the C. pengoi population in the Gulf of Finland was evaluated by combining the data from hatching experiments and resting egg abundances
in the sediment. Development time of resting eggs was dependent on temperature: increase in the temperature shortened the
time needed until hatching. Hatching success was also dependent on incubation temperature. Almost sixfold increase in hatching
success was detected when temperature increased two degrees above the storage temperature. Average resting egg abundances
varied between 0.16 and 0.49 eggs cm−3 in the 0–6 cm sediment layer. 相似文献

Fecundity, egg viability and fecal pellet production are reported for Acartia clausi females collected in the Bay of Naples, Italy, from April to October 1992 and fed either with a diatom (Thalassiosira rotula) or dinoflagellate (Prorocentrum minimum) diet, at food saturated conditions. The diatom diet significantly reduced both egg and fecal pellet production as well as hatching success. Blockage of egg development occurred with both axenic and non-axenic cultures of T. rotula, suggesting that inhibitors were provided by the diatoms and not by the bacteria associated with diatom cultures. Low hatching success was also artificially induced by exposing newly spawned A. clausi eggs to high concentrations of diatom extracts, indicating the presence of deleterious, inhibitory compounds blocking copepod embryogenesis. Fecundity and hatching success diminished significantly with female age. In contrast, female longevity was not significantly modified by food type. The presence of males did not significantly alter fecundity or egg viability. Females continued to produce viable eggs throughout the period of incubation, with and without males, in both food conditions, indicating that remating is infrequent and not necessary to sustain viable egg production in this species. The succession in low and high population densities may therefore be the outcome of variations in survival rates of eggs, rather than reproductive protential perse; such variations may strongly depend on the adult copepod diet. 相似文献

The use of the egg production rate of herbivorous copepods as an important parameter for understanding population dynamics
and as an index of secondary production requires knowledge of the regulatory mechanisms involved and of the response to changes
in food concentrations and temperature. Furthermore, the effects of season and generation on egg production have to be studied.
In this context data are presented for Calanus finmarchicus from the northern North Atlantic. Prefed and prestarved females were exposed to different concentrations of the diatom Thalassiosira antarctica over 1 to 2 wk at 0 or 5 °C, and egg deposition was controlled daily. Egg production increased with higher food concentrations,
but much less when prestarved. The effect of temperatures between −1.5 and 8 °C on egg production was studied in females maintained
at optimum feeding conditions. Egg production rate increased exponentially over the whole temperature range by a factor of
5.2, from 14.2 to 73.4 eggs female−1 d−1, and carbon-specific egg production by 4, from 2.1 to 8.5% body C d−1. The response to starvation was also temperature dependent. In both the temperature and feeding experiments egg production
rate was regulated mainly by changes of the spawning interval, while changes of clutch size were independent of experimental
conditions. Different responses to optimum feeding conditions were observed in females collected in monthly intervals on three
occasions between March and May. The March females deposited more clutches than the April and May females. In May, >50% of
the females did not spawn at all. Maximum egg production rates were never >25% of the rate expected at 5 °C, indicating endogenous
control of egg production in addition to food and temperature effects.

Here we evaluate the effects of two quantitatively very important components of the water soluble fractions of fuel oils (naphthalene
and 1,2-dimethylnaphthalene, hereafter NAPH and C2-NAPH, respectively) on the survival, feeding and egg production rates,
and viability of eggs of the coastal copepod Paracartia (Acartia) grani. Acute toxicity responses resulted in lethal concentrations (LC50) of 2,535 and 161 μg l−1 for NAPH and C2-NAPH, respectively, with no evidence of narcotic effects. Hydrocarbon-specific differences in the toxicity
response indicate that sublethal effects (EC50) on feeding by C2-NAPH were likely driven by induced mortality, whereas NAPH
has direct negative effects on feeding. Sublethal effects on egg production rates followed a similar detrimental pattern to
the one exhibited by feeding rates, suggesting that the lower egg production rates were mediated by the decrease in feeding
rates. At the exposure time tested (24 h), the 50% reduction effective concentrations (EC50) determined for sublethal effects
were relatively high in comparison with hydrocarbons’ concentrations found under natural circumstances. Long exposure (4 days)
of P. grani adults to the tested hydrocarbons at concentrations well below the recorded EC50, however, had no significant effects on
feeding, egg production and hatching rates. The viability of the eggs was either not affected or only slightly influenced
when healthy eggs were incubated under very high concentrations (up to 6,400 and 700 μg l−1 NAPH and C2-NAPH, respectively). The significance of the effects of oil spills on marine zooplankton communities is discussed

Recruitment success at the early life stages is a critical process for zooplankton demography. Copepods often dominate the zooplankton in marine coastal zones and are prey of the majority of fish larvae. Hypotheses interpreting variations of copepod recruitment are based on the concepts of "naupliar predation," "nutritional deficiency," and "toxic effect" of diatom diets. Contradictory laboratory and field studies have reached opposite conclusions on the effects of diatoms on copepod reproductive success, blurring our view of marine food-web energy flow from diatoms to higher consumers by means of copepods. Here we report estimates of copepod feeding selectivity and reproduction in response to seasonally changing phytoplankton characteristics measured in a highly productive coastal upwelling area off the coast of central Chile. The variable phytoplankton diversity and changing food quality had a strong and highly significant impact on the feeding selectivity, reproduction, and larval survival of three indigenous copepod species. Seasonal changes in copepod feeding behavior were related to the alternating protozoan-diatom diets, mostly based on dinoflagellates and ciliates during winter and autumn (low highly unsaturated fatty acids [HUFA]/polyunsaturated fatty acids [PUFA] availability), but switched to a diet of centric and chain-forming diatoms (high HUFA/PUFA availability) during the spring/summer upwelling period. Ingestion of diatom cells induced a positive effect on egg production. However, a negative relationship was found between egg hatching success, naupliar survival, and diatom ingestion. Depending on the phytoplankton species, diets had different effects on copepod reproduction and recruitment. The population dynamics of Pseudocalanus acuspes in the Central Baltic Sea were studied from March 2002 to May 2003 on a monthly basis. All stages were present year round
with a stage shift from nauplii to older copepodite stages over the course of the year. Biomass, estimated from prosome length,
peaked between May and September with maximum recorded values of 594 and 855 mg C m−2 in May 2002 and 2003, respectively. Differences in biomass between stations up to a factor of 20 were observed especially
in April/May and October. Mean egg production rate (EPR) showed a seasonal course and was highest in April 2002 and 2003 with
3.6 and 2.1 eggs f−1 day−1, respectively, corresponding to a mean weight-specific egg production rate (SEPR) of 0.13 and 0.04. Egg production seems
to be limited by food from May on. Stage durations determined from moulting experiments turned out to be extremely long. Maximum
growth rates based on stage durations of 15–25 days at 4°C in May and July 2003 amounted for 0.03–0.05 day−1 in CI-CIV. Comparing these rates with rates derived from temperature–development relationships for P. acuspes from the literature resulted in five times higher growth rates for the latter case. Secondary production reached values up
to 9.1 mg C m−2 day−1 (method for continuously reproducing populations) and 10.5 mg C m−2 day−1 (increment summation). 相似文献

Abundance and temporal distribution of viable (able to germinate) resting stage cells of planktonic diatoms in bottom sediments
have been investigated almost monthly during 1989 to 1992 in Hiroshima Bay, western part of Seto Inland Sea, Japan. The abundance
of viable resting stages in bottom sediments was enumerated with the extinction dilution method (most probable number method,
MPN). In bottom sediments of Hiroshima Bay, dominantly distributed species and/ or genera of the diatom resting stages were
Skeletonema costatum, Chaetoceros spp. and Thalassiosira spp. Viable resting stages of these diatoms were densely distributed on the orders of 103 to 106 (MPN g−1 wet sediments), and persisted in bottom sediments throughout the investigation period. Conversely, vegetative cells of these
diatoms fluctuated remarkably in the water column and disappeared sporadically. Survival of the resting stages in a collected
sediment sample was also determined with the MPN method, at different storage temperatures (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 °C). The survival
test demonstrated that the diatom resting stages could survive in the dark for several months or years in sediments. Resting
stages survived longer at the lower storage temperature, and the order of longevity was consistent within three diatoms (Chaetoceros spp. > Thalassiosira spp. > S. costatum) at each storage temperature. The present study suggests that these diatom resting stages in the coastal bottom sediments
could serve as a “seed bank”, analogous to those of terrestrial plants. The seed bank would ensure the survival of diatoms
within highly fluctuating coastal environments, while it would also be the source of sporadic and autochthonous diatom blooms
in coastal waters.

The investigation was carried out from 62°N to 73°N and from 14°E to 11°W in the Norwegian Sea during 19 June-12 July 1997. Regional differences in the phase of the seasonal development of the plankton community were evident, most pronounced across the Arctic front. In the Coastal and eastern Atlantic domains, post-bloom conditions prevailed, characterised by low chlorophyll a (chl a) levels and a phytoplankton assemblage dominated by coccolithophorids and small flagellates. During the study period, egg production rates of Calanus finmarchicus were low (<10 eggs female-1 day-1), older copepodite stages dominated, and the seasonal descent to deeper waters had started. In the Arctic domain, bloom conditions were evident by high chl a levels and a high abundance of large diatoms. Egg production rates were higher (a maximum of 29 eggs female-1 day-1), but the dominance of stages CI-CIII indicated that considerable spawning had already occurred prior to the spring bloom. The seasonal descent had barely started. Both invertebrate and fish predators were most abundant in the Coastal and eastern Atlantic domains, with abundance strongly decreasing north-westwards. No tight relationship between total abundance of invertebrate or fish predators and that of C. finmarchicus was apparent. However, a weak, but significant, relationship between abundance of young stages of chaetognaths and Euchaeta spp. versus young stages of C. finmarchicus was found, indicating that these invertebrate predators develop parallel to the development of the new cohort of C. finmarchicus. In early summer, C. finmarchicus had reached overwintering stages, and had started to accumulate in deeper waters in areas with the highest abundance of horizontally migratory planktivorous fish. 相似文献

Laboratory experiments were conducted to differentiate between factors controlling the hatching success of copepod eggs. Factors that could affect viability of eggs; viz food quality, female condition and external factors were investigated. In a series of experiments the copepod Acartia tonsa Dana was fed several different diets while egg production and hatching success were monitored. The diet was analysed for fatty acid content as an indicator of food quality. Both egg production and hatching were found to be affected by the nutritional quality of the food. Hatching was also highly dependent on female fertility. External effects were tested by exposing eggs to diatom extracts. Negative effects were only evident at high extract concentrations, but disappeared when aeration was supplied to the solution. Oxygen measurements showed that failure to hatch was due to hypoxia in the extracts. No inhibitory or toxic effects of diatom cell components on hatching could be found. 相似文献

In the spring of 1989, an experimental study of the spawning behaviour of Calanus finmarchicus was carried out in Malangen, northern Norway. Here, a single cohort of females reproduce from mid-March to May, approximately coinciding with the wax and wane of the spring phytoplankton bloom. An evaluation of population characteristics such as the proportion of adults, sex ratio, as well as gonad maturation and daily productivity of the females clearly reveals three phases within the population's reproductive period. In between incline and decline, the highest spawning rates (on average >20 eggs female-1 d-1, equivalent to 5.7% body C d-1) occur after the males have disappeared from the population and almost all females have mature gonads. During this period, the ratio of adults to copepodid Stage Vs changes from dominance of adults to that of CVs. Although first egg production was observed prior to the phytoplankton increase, it is suggested that the onset of the phytoplankton spring bloom in the first few days of April enhances the final maturation of ovaries in the females and therefore triggers the onset of the main spawning period. The clutch sizes (max. 95 eggs clutch-1) vary with the age of the females, while the spawning frequencies depend on the available food quantities. The overlap of an estimated minimal 4 wk spawning period for the individuals leads to a main reproductive phase for the population of ca. 3 wk, during which time mean clutch sizes and spawning frequencies are maximal (highest average clutch size: 70 eggs female-1 clutch-1, 100 to 60% of the females spawning). This period ends before the end of the phytoplankton bloom. Calculated by stepwise interpolation and summation of the mean daily egg production in the population, an average female produced ca. 600 eggs during the spring bloom in Malangen 1989. We suggest that reproduction and population development of C. finmarchicus in spring follows a reproducible pattern for a given temperature regime and non-limiting food conditions. Effects of maternal food environment and season were examined during spring and autumn on females, eggs and nauplii of Calanus finmarchicus, in different natural prey suspensions or cultures of Rhodomonas baltica. Females sampled in spring were in general larger, had higher protein content, and showed higher egg production and hatching rates, than in autumn. The cumulative egg production was almost double in spring compared to autumn (females fed R. baltica). Females had higher content of free amino acids (FAA) and free essential amino acids (EAA) in autumn than in the spring. Also, the FAA contents in eggs and nauplii were higher in autumn than in spring. In contrast, the composition of EAA in eggs was constant between seasons, indicating maternal regulation. The highest cumulative egg production was correlated with a high similarity in the free pool of EAA in the food suspension and the female copepod. Thus, the data support the hypothesis that similarity in the free pool of EAA of diet and female promotes high fecundity and egg hatching success in C. finmarchicus. 相似文献

From May 2002 to October 2003, a fortnightly sampling programme was conducted in a restricted macrotidal ecosystem in the
English Channel, the Baie des Veys (France). Three sets of data were obtained: (1) physico-chemical parameters, (2) phytoplankton community structure illustrated
by species composition, biovolume and diversity, and (3) primary production and photosynthetic parameters via P versus E curves. The aim of this study was to investigate the temporal variations of primary production and photosynthetic parameters
in this bay and to highlight the potential links with phytoplankton community structure. The highest level of daily depth-integrated
primary production Pz (0.02–1.43 g C m−2 d−1) and the highest maximum photosynthetic rate P
B
max (0.39–8.48 mg C mg chl a
−1 h−1) and maximum light utilization coefficient αB [0.002–0.119 mg C mg chl a
−1 h−1 (μmol photons m−2 s−1)] were measured from July to September. Species succession was determined based on biomass data obtained from cell density
and biovolume measurements. The bay was dominated by 11 diatoms throughout the year. However, a Phaeocystis globosa bloom (up to 25 mg chl a m−3, 2.5 × 106 cells l−1) was observed each year during the spring diatom bloom, but timing and intensity varied interannually. Annual variation of
primary production was due to nutrient limitation, light climate and water temperature. The seasonal pattern of microalgal
succession, with regular changes in composition, biovolume and diversity, influenced the physico-chemical and biological characteristics
of the environment (especially nutrient stocks in the bay) and thus primary production. Consequently, investigation of phytoplankton
community structure is important for developing the understanding of ecosystem functioning, as it plays a major role in the

Three strains of the chain-forming diatom Skeletonema marinoi, differing in their production of polyunsaturated aldehydes (PUA) and nutritional food components, were used in experiments
on feeding, egg production, hatching success, pellet production, and behavior of three common planktonic copepods: Acartia tonsa, Pseudocalanus elongatus, and Temora longicornis. The three different diatom strains (9B, 1G, and 7J) induced widely different effects on Acartia tonsa physiology, and the 9B strain induced different effects for the three copepods. In contrast, different strains induced no
or small alterations in the distribution, swimming behavior, and turning frequency of the copepods. 22:6(n-3) fatty acid (DHA)
and sterol content of the diet typically showed a positive effect on either egg production (A. tonsa) or hatching success (P. elongatus), while other measured compounds (PUA, other long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids) of the algae had no obvious effects.
Our results demonstrate that differences between strains of a given diatom species can generate effects on copepod physiology,
which are as large as those induced by different algae species or groups. This emphasizes the need to identify the specific

At specific locations within the Baltic Sea, thermoclines and haloclines can create rapid spatial and temporal changes in
temperature (T) and salinity (S) exceeding 10°C and 9 psu with seasonal ranges in temperature exceeding 20°C. These wide ranges in abiotic factors affect
the distribution and abundance of Baltic Sea copepods via species-specific, physiological-based impacts on vital rates. In
this laboratory study, we characterized the influence of T and S on aspects of reproductive success and naupliar survival of a southwestern Baltic population of Temora longicornis (Copepoda: Calanoida). First, using ad libitum feeding conditions, we measured egg production (EP, no. of eggs female−1 day−1) at 12 different temperatures between 2.5 and 24°C, observing the highest mean EP at 16.9°C (12 eggs female−1 day−1). Next, the effect of S on EP and hatching success (HS, %) was quantified at 12°C for cohorts that had been acclimated to either 8, 14, 20 or 26 psu
and tested at each of five salinities (8, 14, 20, 26 and 32 psu). The mean EP was highest for (and maximum EP similar among)
14, 20 and 26 psu cohorts when tested at their acclimation salinity whereas EP was lower at other salinities. For adults reared
at 8 psu, a commonly encountered salinity in Baltic surface waters, EP was relatively low at all test salinities—a pattern
indicative of osmotic stress. When incubated at 12°C and 15 different salinities between 0 and 34 psu, HS increased asymptotically
with increasing S and was maximal (82.6–84.3%) between 24 and 26 psu. However, HS did depend upon the adult acclimation salinity. Finally,
the 48-h survival of nauplii hatched and reared at 14 psu at one of six different temperatures (10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20°C)
was measured after exposure to a novel salinity (either 7 or 20 psu). Upon exposure to 7 psu, 48-h naupliar mortality increased
with increasing temperature, ranging from 26.7% at 10°C to 63.2% at 20°C. In contrast, after exposure to 20 psu, mortality
was relatively low at all temperatures (1.7% at 10°C and ≤26.7% for all other temperatures). An intra-specific comparison
of EP for three different T. longicornis populations revealed markedly different temperature optima and clearly demonstrated the negative impact of brackish (Baltic)
salinities. Our results provide estimates of reproductive success and early survival of T. longicornis to the wide ranges of temperatures and salinities that will aid ongoing biophysical modeling examining climate impacts on
this species within the Baltic Sea. 相似文献
