This report, published as Informative Report No. 1 of the Air Pollution Control Association’s TA-8 Meteorological Committee, began to move through the fourteen step approval procedure in March 1964. Comments made by members of the Technical Council were used in the preparation of the final report. It is now being published as representing the "best thinking of the Association." It is an extremely timely and informative report.  相似文献

Recent air pollution legislation, introduced as a Clean Air Act into New South Wales, the most populous and most heavily industrialized Australian State relies mainly upon the establishment of maximum limits of emission of air impurities. Regulations made under the Act set out the first of a series of such limits which cover the more commonly encountered pollutants. Other limits will be included later as knowledge is accumulated but, in the meantime, where standards have not been fixed the "best practicable means" of controlling air pollution must be used. To facilitate administration and to provide financial support for scientific and engineering services in the form of the Air Pollution Control Board, industries of significant air pollution potential have been designated as scheduled premises and pay annual license fees. Further technical support for the legislation is provided by an Air Pollution Advisory Committee.  相似文献

The APCA Critical Review entitled “Ozone Air Quality Models” was presented by John H. Seinfeld, Louis E. Nohl Professor and Executive Officer for Chemical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California. Dr. Seinfeld presented his review at the 81st APCA Annual Meeting & Exhibition, held in Dallas, Texas in June 1988. The Critical Review paper, published in the May 1988 issue of JAPCA, highlighted recent advances and continuing problem areas in photochemical air quality modeling. Prepared discussions and floor comments presented during the Critical Review session in Dallas are published here, along with additional comments and closing remarks by Dr. Seinfeld. Howard M. Ellis, Chairman of the Critical Review Subcommittee of the Publications Committee, served as moderator of the 1988 APCA Critical Review session.  相似文献

This marks the 30th year of the Air & Waste Management Association's Critical Review Program. The Critical Review is a feature of A&WMA's Annual Conference, and is directed by the Critical Review Committee. The committee evaluates several topics each year, selects the best for presentation, and invites an individual (or group) to prepare the Critical Review Paper. This paper is thoroughly reviewed by the committee members and a panel of experts. After presentation of the review by the authors (typically on the Wednesday of the Annual Conference), there is a panel discussion and question-and-answer session. Panel members are invited to prepare their comments on the Critical Review, which, along with audience comments and the author's closing statements, are published in the Journal.  相似文献

The A&WMA Critical Review entitled “Soil Remediation Techniques at Uncontrolled Hazardous Waste Sites” was presented by Ronald C. Sims, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Utah State University, Logan, Utah. Dr. Sims presented his review at the 83rd Air & Waste Management Association Annual Meeting, held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in June 1990. Prepared discussions presented during the Critical Review session are published here, along with some closing remarks by Dr. Sims. Ronald Harkov, Chairman of the Critical Review Subcommittee of the Publications Committee, served as moderator of the 1990 A&WMA Critical Review session.  相似文献

A feature of the 62nd annual meeting of the Air Pollution Control Association, held June 22-26, 1969 in New York City, was a plenary session on Urban Ecology and the Air Environment. Moderated by Norman Cousins, editor of The Saturday Review of Literature, the session developed the theme through the outspoken and personal viewpoints of four distinguished panelists: Austin N. Heller, Aaron J. Teller, Barry Commoner, and Stewart L. Udall. The essence of their remarks appears on the following pages.  相似文献

On November 18–19, 1970, the Environmental Control Division of the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, Pittsburgh, Pa., and its Air Pollution Control Advisory Committee held a Conference on “Air Quality Control in the Printing Industry.” This first nation-wide meeting at the Chicago-Sheraton brought together management and production people from the various printing processes, regulatory officials from all levels of government, control equipment manufacturers, consultants, and ink and solvent suppliers.

In due course, the Foundation will publish the proceedings of the Conference; however, because of the intense interest expressed by the audience, the Environmental Control Division has prepared this summary until the proceedings are published.  相似文献

The APCA Critical Review entitled "Incineration of Hazardous Waste" was presented by E. Timothy Oppelt, Chief, Thermal Destruction Branch, Alternative Technologies Division of U.S. EPA’s Hazardous Waste Engineering Research Laboratory (Cincinnati). Mr. Oppelt presented his review at the 80th APCA Annual Meeting & Exhibition, held in New York City in June 1987. The Critical Review paper, published in the May 1987 issue of JAPCA, examined the current state of knowledge regarding hazardous waste incineration in an effort to put the technical and environmental issues into perspective. Prepared discussions presented during the Critical Review session are published here, along with additional comments and closing remarks by Mr. Oppelt. Howard M. Ellis, Chairman of the Critical Review Subcommittee of the Publications Committee, served as moderator of the 1987 Critical Review session.  相似文献

In common with other technical fields and disciplines, the air pollution area has “information explosion” problems, compounded by the interdisciplinary nature of the field and the current increased emphasis on air pollution and its control. The development of technical information programs to meet these needs is traced, with emphasis on the Air Pollution Technical Infor-mation Center established by the National Air Pollution Control Administration of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. The Center is based on a delegation of responsibility by the Office of Science and Technology, Executive Office of the President, and now contains over 12,000 current references, with an acquisition rate of approximately 200 per month. In addition to the U. S. journal literature, particular emphasis is placed on the foreign literature and on U. S. Government research reports. Other programs discussed include the Air Pollution Control Association, Bay Area Air Pollution Control District, Center for Air Environment Studies at Penn State, and centers serving particular industries. Services available from each are described.  相似文献

The Journal of the Air Pollution Control Association presents its second animal directory of air pollution products. This 11-page guide lists manufacturers of emission control equipment and air pollution instrumentation under product classifications which are shown below. These classifications are derived from McGraw-Hill’s Air Pollution Handbook, chapters 10, 11, and 13. The final portion of this guide contains an alphabetical listing of manufacturers. If any manufacturers or product categories have been inadvertently overlooked, the omission is regretted and should be brought to the attention of the editor. It will result in a more complete and accurate Product Guide/1970 to be published next December.  相似文献

The Journal of the Air Pollution Control Association presents its eighth directory of air pollution control consultants. This 13-page guide lists individual consultants and firms who have indicated a capability in this field by responding to a questionnaire published in the Journal.

The Consultant Guide is now a computer based program and has a different format than Guides prior to 1976. The basic change is that areas of competence are no longer coded but are shown as categories within five geographical regions. And any certifications granted by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers (AAEE), American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) and the Board for Certified Consulting Meteorologists (BCCM) are shown adjacent to the phone number in the alphabetical listing.

The Air Pollution Control Association makes no representation regarding the competence of the consultants listed nor does it accept any responsibility for their performance as consultants.  相似文献

This 14-page guide lists manufacturers of emission control equipment and air pollution instrumentation under product classifications which are shown below. These classifications are derived from McGraw-Hill’s Air Pollution Handbook, chapters 10, 11, and 13 . The final portion of this guide contains an alphabetical listing of manufacturers.

If any manufacturers or product categories have been inadvertently overlooked, the omission is regretted and should be brought to the attention of the editor. It will result in a more complete and accurate Product Guide/1973 to be published next December.  相似文献
