An analytical method was developed and tested for the simultaneous determination of chlorothalonil and its main metabolite 4-hydroxychlorothalonil, in airborne samples. High performance liquid chromatography equipped with Ultra-violet detector was used to separate and quantify the analytes. Glass microfibre filters for the collection of the analytes' particles were tested. Solid sorbents, such as Tenax, Florisil, XAD-2 and silica gel, were studied to find out the most suitable material for the collection of the analytes in the gas phase. The results have shown that only chlorothalonil was trapped in the vapor phase with highest results obtained when silica gel was the sorbent of choice. Linearity was demonstrated in a wide concentration range 0.01-10.00 mg L(-1). Recoveries from spiked glass microfibre filters and silica gel cartridges for chlorothalonil and 4-hydroxychlorothalonil were almost quantitative. The quantification limits were calculated to be 8.4 and 19.6 ng m(-3) in air for chlorothalonil and 4-hydroxychlorothalonil, respectively. The two analytes spiked on the GF/A filters and silica gel cartridges were proven to be stable for more than 15 days, at 4degrees C and ambient temperature. The applicability of the present method was demonstrated by the analysis of the chlorothalonil and its metabolite in greenhouse air.  相似文献

A useful tool based on a single-step extraction and clean-up procedure for the determination of 15 organohalogenated pollutants (including brominated flame retardants) in aquaculture samples, using aluminium oxide basic and acidic silica gel in the supercritical extraction cell followed by gas chromatography with electron capture detection or mass spectrometry has been developed. This effective clean-up step ensures a minimum of chromatographic difficulties related to complex matrix components such as aquaculture feed. The extraction procedure has been screened by a fractional factorial design for the preliminary statistically significant parameters. The factors selected were extraction temperature, pressure, static extraction time, dynamic extraction time and carbon dioxide flow rate. The Doehlert design, followed by a multicriteria decision-making strategy, was then performed in order to determine the optimum conditions for the two most significant factors: pressure (165 bar) and dynamic extraction time (27 min). Under optimal conditions, the procedure developed with GC-MS/MS provides an excellent linearity, detection (0.01-0.2 ng g(-1)) and quantification limits (0.05-0.8 ng g(-1)) for most of the analytes investigated. The feasibility of the proposed supercritical fluid extraction method was validated by analysing two reference materials and fish feed and shellfish samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

Concentrations of selected organochlorine pesticides and PCBs in seven fish species (cichlids) from the north end of the Lake Tanganyika, Burundi, Africa were determined. Results were compared to previous work on the Lake Tanganyika and other water bodies and to the European Community maximum residue levels (MRLs) in edible fat. The analytical method included a hot Soxhlet extraction with a mixture of acetone: hexane (1:3, v/v), gravimetrically lipid determination, and a single step clean-up. For PCBs and stable pesticides, the clean-up was done on activated silica gel impregnated with concentrated sulfuric acid, while for non acid-stable pesticides superposed layers of alumina, silica and florisil impregnated with 15% methanolic solution of KOH were successively used. Recoveries of organochlorine pesticides from certified reference material (CRM 430) were ranging from 86% for p,p'-DDT to 107% for endrin, while recoveries from blank fat spiked fortified at three different levels were between 65% for alachlor at the lowest fortification level and 107% for mirex at the highest fortification level. The limits of detection for each analyte were ranging from 0.1 ng/g to 0.5 ng/g fat. All chlorinated pesticides were found in the analyzed species but at low concentrations. Boulengerochromis microlepis contained the highest concentrations of HCHs (288.2 +/- 15.5 ng/g fat) and DDTs (909.1 +/- 42.5 ng/g fat), while the highest PCB levels (166.7 +/- 37.4 ng/g fat for the sum of 12 congeners) were found in Oreochromis niloticus. However, there is no evidence that Lake Tanganyika is more contaminated with pesticides than other African water bodies.  相似文献

A procedure was developed for determination of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in heavily contaminated paddy soil from wastewater irrigated farmland near Tianjin. The sample was distilled with accelerated solvent extraction (ASE), purified by a silica gel column, and measured with GC/MS. The optimal conditions for the distillation were at 140 degrees C (1500 psi) with a 1:1 mixture of dichloromethane and acetone for 5 min. Application of cyclohexane for extract transfer improved the recovery when the ASE extraction was followed by a silica gel cleanup procedure. Recoveries from the method for 16 PAHs ranged from 57-140% with the coefficients of variation of the results ranging from 0.35% to 5.75%. The total 16 PAHs in a composite sample collected from a wastewater irrigated paddy field near Tianjin was 3.90 mg/kg.  相似文献

Development of an analytical method for polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in fish and their concentration in Japanese marine fish were investigated. Fish homogenate was extracted with diethyl ether/hexane (1 + 3). The extract was cleaned up by automated gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and then by mini-column chromatography, which consisted of three layers of silica gel and sulfuric acid-impregnated silica gel. The PBDE fraction was concentrated and injected into a GC/MS with negative chemical ionization (NCl). Recoveries of the 15 individual PBDEs (BDE-15, 28, 37, 47, 66, 71, 75, 77, 85, 99, 100, 119, 153, 154, and 209) each at a fortification level of 4 ng/g lipid were in the range of 88-128% and the relative standard deviations (RSD) were 0.43-7.6% (n = 4). Seven species of marine fish (conger eel, flounder, gray mullet, horse mackerel, red sea bream, sea bass, and yellowtail) were collected from the Inland Sea of Seto, and were analyzed with the developed method. Seven PBDEs (BDE-28, 47, 66, 99, 100, 153, and 154) were detected in all the samples. The most abundant PBDE congener was BDE-47 found in all the samples. Relatively high levels of PBDEs were found in the gray mullets and yellowtails.  相似文献

A multiresidue analytical method was developed for the determination of 9 endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) and 19 pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) including acidic and neutral pharmaceuticals in water and soil samples using rapid resolution liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (RRLC-MS/MS). Solid phase extraction (SPE), and ultrasonic extraction combined with silica gel purification were applied as pretreatment methods for water and soil samples, respectively. The extracts of the EDCs and PPCPs in water and soil samples were then analyzed by RRLC-MS/MS in electrospray ionization (ESI) mode in three independent runs. The chromatographic mobile phases consisted of Milli-Q water and acetonitrile for EDCs and neutral pharmaceuticals, and Milli-Q water containing 0.01 % acetic acid (v/v) and acetonitrile: methanol (1:1, v/v) for acidic pharmaceuticals at a flow rate of 0.3 mL/min. Most of the target compounds exhibited signal suppression due to matrix effects. Measures taken to reduce matrix effects included use of isotope-labeled internal standards, and application of matrix-match calibration curves in the RRLC-MS/MS analyses. The limits of quantitation ranged between 0.15 and 14.08 ng/L for water samples and between 0.06 and 10.64 ng/g for solid samples. The recoveries for the target analytes ranged from 62 to 208 % in water samples and 43 to 177 % in solid samples, with majority of the target compounds having recoveries ranging between 70–120 %. Precision, expressed as the relative standard deviation (RSD), was obtained less than 7.6 and 20.5 % for repeatability and reproducibility, respectively. The established method was successfully applied to the water and soil samples from four irrigated plots in Guangzhou. Six compounds namely bisphenol-A, 4-nonylphenol, triclosan, triclocarban, salicylic acid and clofibric acid were detected in the soils.  相似文献

This paper illustrates the effect of major factors influencing the reproducibility of thin layer chromatography (TLC) separation and detection under largely differing environmental and laboratory conditions. The optimum conditions for reproducibility and detection sensitivity was obtained on 20 x 20 cm layer in the retention factor (Rf) range of 0.2-0.7 by applying the sample in spots of 3-4 mm diameter at 2 cm from the edge of the plate. The reproducibility rapidly decreased below Rf = 0.2. Above Rf = 0.2 the within-laboratory reproducibility of 219 pesticides obtained in ethyl acetate silica gel elution system by several laboratories was typically below 10%. The among-laboratories reproducibility of the average retention factors was generally below 12%. The minimum detectable quantities (MDQ) of 219 pesticide residues were determined with nine detection methods. The MDQ values largely varied depending on the mode of detection. Bioassay methods enabled the detection down to 0.1-10 ng, while 20-100 ng could be achieved with the chemical reagents. Higher MDQ values are also reported in order to assist the identification of compounds potentially present. The between-laboratories reproducibility of MDQ values was typically 1-5 MDQmin.  相似文献

We studied the concentration of 10 primary aromatic amines (AA), which are classified as suspected carcinogens, in indoor and outdoor air in Italy. The measured AA included: aniline, o-toluidine, m-toluidine, p-toluidine, 2,3-dimethylaniline, 2,4-dimethylaniline, 2,5-dimethylaniline, 2,6-dimethylaniline, 2-naphtylamine and 4-aminobiphenyl. In the indoor environment (homes, offices and public buildings) the level of contamination (expressed as sum of 9 AA, excluding aniline) varied from 3 ng/m3 (hospital ward) to 207 ng/m3 (discotheque). In most indoor environments with no contamination from cigarette smoke the AA levels were below 20 ng/m3, whereas in the presence of smokers higher values were observed. Aniline levels were more erratic (varying from 53 ng/m3 (office of non-smokers) to 1929 ng/m3 (discotheque) and were not related to cigarette smoke. The concentration range of AA (excluding aniline) in the outside air varied from 3 ng/m3 (Siena) to 104 ng/m3 (Brindisi); aniline concentration was extremely variable. Most samples of outdoor air had AA levels lower than 40 ng/m3. In conclusion, AA are widespread air contaminants and attain a high concentration in heavily contaminated indoor environments, due to smoking and poor ventilation. AA occasionally attain a high level in outdoor air as well. Therefore, a strategy of reduction of the exposure to AA should consider the abatement of multiple sources of contamination.  相似文献

A simple, rapid and sensitive GC–MS method for the determination of dithiocarbamate fungicide propineb [polymeric zinc propylenebis (dithiocarbamate)] and an improved HPLC procedure for the simultaneous determination of its main metabolite, propylenethiourea, and ethylenethiourea, the main metabolite of all ethylenedithiocarbamates, in airborne samples are described. The method for the analysis of propineb involves the evolution of carbon disulfide (CS2), under acidic conditions in the presence of stannous chloride, extraction of the generated CS2 into a layer of isooctane which is then analyzed for CS2 content by GC–MS in SIM mode. Under the optimum conditions, the retention time of CS2 was 1.89 min and the total time of chromatographic analysis was 5 min. Recoveries from spiking glass microfibre filters (GF/A) and silica gel filters were 86 ± 7 (n = 9) and 89 ± 4 (n = 9), respectively. The limit of detection is 0.7 ng per filter, which is equivalent to about 0.8–1.0 ng m−3 in air. In parallel, an HPLC method with ultraviolet detection is presented for the simultaneous analysis of the metabolites. Separation of the two metabolites was attained in less than 5 min. Recoveries from spiking GF/A and silica gel filters for ethylenethiourea were 100 ± 1 (n = 3) and 98 ± 2 (n = 3), respectively, while for propylenethiourea were 102 ± 1 (n = 3) and 98 ± 1 (n = 3), respectively. The detection limits are about 36–43 and 40–49 ng m−3 in air for ethylenethiourea and propylenethiourea, respectively. All the analytes spiked in the filters are proven to be stable for more than one month, at −4 °C.  相似文献

The possibility of applying thin layer chromatography (TLC) detection for the analysis of pesticide residues in tomatoes was investigated. Samples of tomatoes that have never been treated with pesticide were fortified with atrazine, carbaryl, carbofuran, chloroxuron, diuron, dimethoate, imazalil, oxamyl and methamidophos. The samples were extracted, cleaned-up by gel permeation chromatography and then applied on silica gel plates. The pesticides were eluted with ethyl acetate and dichloromethane. Two eluting solvent systems were tested, one using the reagents o-toluidine + potassium iodite (o-TKI) and the other p- nitrobenzene fluoroborate (NBFB). After the development of the plates, the diameter of the spots was measured. The lowest minimum detection quantity (MDQ) for o-TKI system for atrazine was 12 ng. The highest was 125 ng for carbofuran. Using NBFB system, the lowest MDQ was 60 ng for carbaryl and the highest was 70 ng obtained for carbofuran. Considering the concentration of these pesticides in the spiked tomato samples, the minimum concentration was 1.1 ng/microL and 32.3 ng/microL for atrazine and carbofuran, respectively, by using o-TKI system. For NBFB system the minimum concentration reached was 3.5 ng/microL and 4.3 ng/microL for carbaryl and carbofuran, respectively. This study showed that TLC can be used for semi-quantitative analysis.  相似文献

Surficial sediments were sampled from nine stations in Xiamen Harbour and two stations in Yuan Dan Lake during April 2002. Sediment samples were extracted by organic solvents, separated by silica gel column chromatography and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass selective detector (GC-MSD). Selected ion monitoring was at M/Z=57 for petroleum hydrocarbons (PHCs) and individual M/Zs for each of the 15 typical polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and nine alkylated PAHs. The results showed that concentrations of PHCs and total PAHs in the sediments of Yuan Dan Lake were 1397 microg g(-1) (dry weight, dw) and 1377 ng g(-1) (dw), respectively. The ranges for PHCs and total PAHs in the sediments from Xiamen Harbour were 133-943 microg g(-1) (dw) and 98-309 ng g(-1) (dw), respectively. Shipping activities, industrial wastewater discharges, fuel oil spillage from ships and vehicles were the main sources of PHCs and PAHs in the Harbour. In addition, the widespread use of coal for industrial processes and domestic consumption accounted for the second largest source of PAHs in the sediments, while atmospheric transport and deposition of PAHs are also important.  相似文献

A systematic method for analyzing dioxins (PCDDs, PCDFs and dioxin-like PCBs), hexachlorobenzene (HCB), heptachlor epoxide and beta-hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) in human milk was developed to determine the residual amount of HCB in human milk and to evaluate the overall toxicity of both dioxins and HCB in human milk. The fractionation behavior of HCB on chromatography with silica gel, alumina, and activated carbon/silica gel, and the concentrated sulfuric acid decomposition method, which is widely used as a dioxin cleanup method, were studied in order to make the preprocessing operation for HCB measurement compatible with that for conventional dioxin measurement. HCB was found to be eluted in the 2% dichloromethane (DCM)/hexane 60 ml fraction from an alumina column. Heptachlor epoxide and a part of beta-HCH were eluted in the 10% DCM/hexane 50 ml fraction from a silica gel column, while the remaining beta-HCH was eluted in the 25% DCM/hexane 60 ml fraction from an activated carbon/silica gel column. Moreover, HCB showed significant correlation with dioxin congeners having high toxicity equivalence factors (TEFs). The results suggest that the exposure route to HCB and its accumulation behavior in the human body are similar to those of the dioxins.  相似文献

Several methods involving silica gel separations of polychlorinated biphenyls from chlorinated insecticides are already described in literature. Our intention was to find a system of solvent and silica gel of the lowest blank values. The first step was to find a solvent mixture which will keep the homogenity of a silica gel column. PCBs elution was performed with pentane, while the chlorinated insecticides eluated with diethylether, acetone, methanol, and benzene. The elution of pesticides gave the best results for the following solvent systems: diethylether + hexane (1:1), acetone + hexane (1:4), methanole + pentane (1:8) and benzene.Separation of pesticides from polychlorinated biphenyls found in a synthetic mixture was also examined. It was found that all solvent systems used gave similar results of separation. However, only if benzene is used as eluant, the silica gel column can be used for four successive separations after the “on column” regeneration. In order to obtain the lowest blank values silica gel was cleaned with several solvents. The eluates after the silica gel separation were also cleaned up by means of deactivation alumina and concentrated sulphuric acid.  相似文献

The competitive sorption of 1,2-cis-dichloroethene (cis-DCE) and trichloroethene (TCE) was investigated by means of column experiments using a model porous mineral solid represented by silica gel. The experimental isotherms were obtained by employing a chromatographic method. The competitive sorption isotherms were modelled with the extended Freundlich and extended Langmuir isotherms, using the parameters from single-solute experiments. The breakthrough curves were modelled with the advection-dispersion transport equation coupled with the lumped pore diffusion model. The best results were obtained when the extended Freundlich isotherm was employed. The competitive sorption was revealed with the presence of an overshoot in the breakthrough curve of cis-DCE and a decrease in the degree of sorption of cis-DCE (20%) and TCE (12%). A linear dependency of the overshoot with an increase in the concentration of cis-DCE at a fixed concentration of TCE was observed, between 16% and 20%, and at least at concentrations <6 mg L(-1) in the liquid phase. The displaced molecules of cis-DCE by TCE were accumulated through the column causing its overshoot; thus short columns may hinder its observation. Thermodynamic analysis shows an exothermic adsorption process of -34 to -41 kJ mol(-1), which is enhanced by sorption in micropores. The Gibbs free energy is positive for cis-DCE in the multi-component case, due to its displacement by TCE.  相似文献

A silica gel impingement plate for monitoring pyrethroid deposits in environmentally sensitive areas is described. The plate is simple, commercially available, and inexpensive. A residue analysis method is given for deltamethrin deposits with 83.3% mean recovery and a minimum quantifiable limit of 0.005 microgram/plate. Pyrethroid deposits are strongly adsorbed to the silica gel, which prevents wash-off by rainfall and slows photodegradation. In two field experiments, deltamethrin was readily detected 3 weeks after direct spray applications at 6 and 10 g ai/ha. Deltamethrin dissipation on the plates was first-order with a half-life of 2.9-3.7 d. Photoisomers of deltamethrin were also detected on the plates and the ratio of photoisomers to deltamethrin increased over time. This ratio will indicate the age of deposits in monitoring situations.  相似文献

The remediation of nitroaromatic contaminated groundwater is sometimes difficult because nitroaromatic compounds are resistant to biodegradation and, when they do transform, the degradation of the products may also be incomplete. A simple nitroaromatic compound, nitrobenzene, was chosen to assess the feasibility of an in situ multi-zone treatment system at the laboratory scale. The proposed treatment system consists of a zero valent granular iron zone to reduce nitrobenzene to aniline, followed by a passive oxygen release zone for the aerobic biodegradation of the aniline daughter product using pristine aquifer material from Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Borden, Ontario, as an initial microbial source. In laboratory batch experiments, nitrobenzene was found to reduce quickly in the presence of granular iron forming aniline, which was not further degraded but remained partially sorbed onto the granular iron surface. Aniline was found to be readily biodegraded with little metabolic lag under aerobic conditions using the pristine aquifer material. A sequential column experiment, containing a granular iron reducing zone and an aerobic biodegradation zone, successively degraded nitrobenzene and then aniline to below detection limits (0.5 microM) without any noticeable reduction in hydraulic conductivity from biofouling, or through the formation of precipitates.  相似文献

The aim of this research is to develop a silica gel fractionation procedure for sediment sample extracts, which separates polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) into two groups, while simultaneously eliminating most interfering substances for subsequent instrumental analysis. This is achieved by optimizing the fraction cut-off volume of eluting solvent and the deactivation level of the silica gel. Using fully activated silica gel and cutting off PCB collection after passing 60-65 ml eluting solvent (pentane or hexane) through the column resulted in satisfactory separation of PCBs and PAHs. This procedure tends to have a higher reliability for PCBs and PAHs with higher molecular mass. This approach deviates only slightly from the standard methods of the USEPA, and it is less expensive due to reduced sample pre-treatment time and solvent consumption.  相似文献

The inhibitory effect of aniline in photochemical smog reactions was studied using actual Toronto air samples. An aniline concentration of 0.81 pphm had negligible effect in a light traffic air sample containing negligible NO, whereas 20 pphm in a heavy traffic sample caused a 70% decrease in the oxidant dosage, a 50% decrease in the NO2 peak and a four-fold increase in the NO half-life. In experiments with propylene in synthetic mixtures, the half-life of propylene was increased from 144 min. to 192 min. by the present of 20 pphm of aniline. In addition, a thirty-fold increase in condensation nuclei was produced following a one hour induction period. A chemical mechanism is proposed which is consistent with these results. Although the condensation nuclei detected may be too small to produce light scattering, they may be retained in the lung. In addition they may grow in size. These consequences do not favour the use of aniline as an inhibitor in photochemical smog.  相似文献

One liter of the water sample is extracted with 1,1,2-trichlorotrifluoroethane. This non-polar solvent with a low boiling point is then concentrated and a portion of the concentrated extract is injected in a high performance liquid chromatography system. Polar material is separated from the hydrocarbons by means of a silica gel column. The detector measures the UV absorbance at 254 nm at which wavelength aromatic compounds absorb especially well. The quantitative values are given as phenanthrene equivalents and amounts as small as 20 ng/l can be detected. The standard deviation of the method is ± 50 ng/l. Both these values can be improved with a limited amount of difficulty. A concentrated sample extract can be injected and evaluated in less than 6 minutes, and the method is simple enough to have been used at sea.  相似文献

A biotrickling filter inoculated with commercial mixed microorganisms B350 was employed to treat N-containing odorous vapor - aniline. Results indicated no aniline could be detected when empty bed residence time (EBRT) was larger than 110s at inlet concentration of 0.30 g m(-3). The variation of inlet concentration did not change removal efficiencies when concentration is less than 0.21 g m(-3) at fixed EBRT 110s. Biodegradation mechanism of aniline was tentatively proposed based on identified intermediates and predicted biodegradation pathway as well as final mineralized products. Aniline was firstly biodegraded to catechol, and then to levulinic acid and subsequently to succinic acid. Finally, about 62% aniline carbon was completely mineralized to CO(2), while about 91% aniline nitrogen was converted into ammonia and nitrate. Bacterial community in biotrickling filter was found that at least seven bands microbes were identified for high efficiencies of bioreactor at stable state. In all, biotrickling filter seeded with B350 would be a better choice for the purification odorous gas containing high concentration aniline.  相似文献
