DOI: 10.1111/j.1752‐1688.2011.00605.x Abstract: In the Pacific Northwest, warming climate has resulted in a lengthened growing season, declining snowpack, and earlier timing of spring runoff. This study characterizes the impact of climate change in two basins in Idaho, the Spokane River and the Boise River basins. We simulated the basin‐scale hydrology by coupling the downscaled precipitation and temperature outputs from a suite of global climate models and the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT), between 2010 and 2060 and assess the impacts of climate change on water resources in the region. For the Boise River basin, changes in precipitation ranged from ?3.8 to 36%. Changes in temperature were expected to be between 0.02 and 3.9°C. In the Spokane River region, changes in precipitation were expected to be between ?6.7 and 17.9%. Changes in temperature appeared between 0.1 and 3.5°C over a period of the next five decades between 2010 and 2060. Without bias‐correcting the simulated streamflow, in the Boise River basin, change in peak flows (March through June) was projected to range from ?58 to +106 m3/s and, for the Spokane River basin, the range was expected to be from ?198 to +88 m3/s. Both the basins exhibited substantial variability in precipitation, evapotranspiration, and recharge estimates, and this knowledge of possible hydrologic impacts at the watershed scale can help the stakeholders with possible options in their decision‐making process. 相似文献

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are well known to have antimicrobial ability, but very little is known about the effect of AgNPs on soil exoenzyme activities, which reflect the potential of a soil to support biochemical processes. This study provides evidence of the inhibitory effects of AgNPs on the activities of soil exoenzymes. Six exoenzymes related to nutrient cycles (urease, acid phosphatase, arylsulfatase, β-glucosidase) and the overall microbial activity (dehydrogenase, fluorescein diacetate hydrolase) were tested in soils treated with AgNPs (1, 10, 100 and 1000 μg g(-1)) and silver ion (0.035, 0.175, 0.525, 1 and 1.5 μg g(-1)). AgNPs were capable of inhibiting the activities of all the exoenzymes tested in this study. Especially, the urease and dehydrogenase activities were significantly related to the presence of AgNPs. The effects of silver ions dissolved from the AgNPs were not significant, indicating the adverse effects caused by AgNPs themselves. This study suggested that AgNPs negatively affect soil exoenzyme activities, with the urease activity especially sensitive to AgNPs. 相似文献

通过从绿化植物根际土壤和污水处理厂的活性污泥中分离筛选絮凝剂产生菌,得到一株稳定高效的微生物絮凝剂产生菌PS1,根据形态学特征、生理生化实验以及16S rDNA序列分析将其鉴定为简单芽孢杆菌(Bacillus simplex)。对菌株PS1产生絮凝剂的最佳培养时间、絮凝活性分布以及pH、CaCl2、絮凝剂投量对絮凝效果的影响进行了研究,并考察了其对实际废水的絮凝效果。结果表明,菌株PS1产絮凝剂的最佳培养时间为36 h,产生的絮凝活性物质全部存在于发酵液离心后的上清液中;当pH为7.0~8.5、CaC12投量为0.25~0.35 g/L、发酵液投加量的体积分数为1.5%~2.5%时,菌株PS1发酵液对4 g/L的高岭土悬浊液的絮凝效果最佳,絮凝率达到97%。菌株PS1所产絮凝剂对城市污水、啤酒废水、淀粉废水、医院废水的絮凝率可达90%以上。 相似文献

A psychrotolerant denitrifying bacterial strain, DBP-3, was isolated from a eutrophic body of water by low-temperature-oriented acclimation culture. Based on its morphologicalandbiochemicalcharacteristics and 16S rDNA gene sequence, the bacterium was identified as belonging to the genus Acinetobacter and closely related to A. johnonii. The satisfactory growth of DBP-3 was observed at 10–30°C and pH 7–9. Strain DBP-3 was able to utilize three types of carbon sources (sodium acetate > sodium citrate > glucose) to support growth and denitrification. DBP-3 grew faster, but with lower nitrate removal efficiency and higher nitrite accumulation, under aerobic conditions than under anoxic conditions. DBP-3 was extremely susceptible to tetracycline and rifampicine and less sensitive to ampicillin and penicillin. The growth of DBP-3 was significantly affected by Hg (II), Cr (VI), Pb (II), Cd (II), and As (III) at 0.32, 0.63, 1.25, 2.5, and 25.0 mg L?1, respectively. Interestingly, chromium (VI) significantly promoted DBP-3 growth at concentrations lower than 0.32 mg L?1. These data may be helpful to support the use of strain DBP-3 in the purification of eutrophic water bodies at low temperatures. 相似文献

To find a better composting process with low greenhouse gas emission and high humus production, the effect of adding kitchen waste on reduction and humification of organic matter during straw composting was studied. Three processes were compared, consisting of different ratios of straw and kitchen waste (1:2, 1:1, and 2:1). At four time points over a 62-d incubation, the reduction and humification of compost was evaluated by measuring the total mass, carbon content, and humic material content of the compost. Treatment 1 (straw/kitchen waste ratio of 1:2) reduced the total mass of compost the most. Treatment 2 (straw/kitchen waste ratio of 1:1) reduced the total carbon content the most, reflecting the highest emission of greenhouse gas. Treatment 3 produced the most humic acid material and released the lowest amount of carbon. Hence, from the point of view of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing stable organic matter such as humus and humic acid during composting, treatment #3 was optimal. The three treatments resulted in significant differences in microbial biomass and enzyme activity during composting. The highest amount of active microbial biomass was associated with the largest reduction in compost mass (treatment 1). Higher proportions of straw (treatments 2 and 3), which contains more lignin, were associated with greater β-glycosidase activity, which may generate more humus that can improve soil quality. 增强型地热系统(EGS)是通过人工形成地热储层而从低渗透性岩体中经济地采出热能的地热系统。为了提高热储层的渗透率,需要对热储层实施化学刺激,增加深部岩体中地热能的采收率。以采自青海共和盆地的花岗岩样品(与盆地基底干热岩体的岩性相同)为研究对象,选用10%HCl+3%HF的土酸为化学刺激剂,在不同温度和试验时间反应条件下开展了花岗岩化学刺激试验,研究了土酸化学刺激剂对实际EGS储层的化学刺激效果以及溶蚀特征。结果表明:土酸刺激后花岗岩的渗透率明显提高,且其渗透率的提高倍数随温度的升高和时间的延长而增大;化学刺激试验中发现花岗岩化学组成中石英和长石发生溶蚀,而且还生成了氟铝酸钾、氟硅酸钾和石英蚀变矿物。 相似文献
