Levels of glyphosate were determined in water, soil and sediment samples from a transgenic soybean cultivation area located near to tributaries streams of the Pergamino-Arrecifes system in the north of the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Field work took into account both the pesticide application and the rains occurring after applications. The pesticide was analysed by HPLC-UV detection, previous derivatization with 9-fluorenylmethylchloroformate (FMOC-Cl). In addition, SoilFug multimedia model was used to analyse the environmental distribution of the pesticides. In the field, levels of glyphosate in waters ranged from 0.10 to 0.70mg/L, while in sediments and soils values were between 0.5 and 5.0mg/Kg. Temporal variation of glyphosate levels depended directly on the time of application and the rain events. The results obtained from the application of the model are in accordance with the values found in the field. 相似文献

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) were determined in a aquatic community from Los Padres Lake, Argentina. Twenty four PCB congeners from tri- to octa-chlorinated isomers were detected and quantified using conventional gas chromatography with electron capture detector (GC-ECD). The aim of this study was to investigate the concentrations of PCBs in freshwater organisms from a shallow lake of Argentina. Stems of bulrush (Schoenoplectus californicus), whole tissues of false loosestrife (Ludwigia sp.) and grass shrimp (Palaemonetes argentinus), and liver, gonads, muscle and mesenteric fat (if present) of fish species (Rhamdia sapo) and (Oligosarcus jenynsi) were analyzed. Two areas were selected to macrophytes sampling: the input area, main PCB source of the lake (Station 1), and the output area, a potential anoxic zone (Station 2). Macrophytes from Station 1 bioconcentrated higher total PCB levels than Station 2, showing that the former have received PCBs washed down from upstream areas. Penta- and hexa-congeners were enriched relative to other congeners in animal biota and macrophytes from Station 1, consistent with commercial mixture of Aroclor 1254 used in this region. In bulrush from Station 2 a predominance of tri- and tetra-chlorinated congeners was observed. Grass shrimp showed the lowest PCB values among animal biota. PCB concentrations in fish tissues varied with the species and the gonadal development. Mesenteric fat, only present in post-spawning organisms of R. sapo, had the highest values of PCBs relative to other tissues. A clearance of total PCBs in ovaries of post-spawning females of R. sapo was observed, but not in testes. O. jenynsi/P. argentinus biomagnification factor (BMF) had a mean value of 18.7. Congeners 44, 52 and 151, showed the highest BMF values, being 64, 66 and 62, respectively. These values would be a consequence of the low depuration rate of 44 and 52 congeners with orthochlorine substitution conducted by O. jenynsi and the high depuration rate of congener 151, which lacks 4 4′- chlorine substitution, carried out by grass shrimp. Landscape Change and Ecosystem Classification in a Municipal District of a Small City (Isernia,Central Italy) 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Landscape changes taking place from 1954 to 1992 in the muncipal district of Isernia city (Central Italy) were described in relation to a system of ecosystem classification. Isernia municipal district was selected for study because recent historic changes in this area represent a typical example of landscape transformation similar to many small cities of Italy and other Mediterranean countries. To assess overall changes, three land cover maps (scale 1:25,000) were derived from panchromatic aerial photographs and field surveys. These were then digitalised in a Geographic Information System. A Land Facet (LF) map was derived by combining a phytoclimatic, a lithostatigrafic and a topographic map, and then digitalised as data layers in the same GIS. Results demonstrated two main landscape transformation trends: forest and semi-natural areas increased (8%), whereas agricultural areas decreased (12%). The urban area was relatively small during the entire analysed period, growing from 1% in 1954, to just 5% in 1992. Forest coverage was significant on reliefs, on hillside ecosystems such as limestone and on clay and marl hills LF. Arable land was particularly significant in flat ecosystems with deeper soils, such as on recent alluvial plain LF. These temporal changes were interpreted as being related to the replacement of traditional farming methods (grazing pastures) with more intensive methods (crop fields), especially on alluvial plains. 相似文献

/ Evaluating the environmental and economic impacts of agricultural policies is not a simple task. A systematic approach to evaluation would include the effect of policy-dependent factors (such as tillage practices, crop rotations, and chemical use) as well as the effect of policy-independent covariates (such as weather, topography, and soil attributes) on response variables (such as amount of soil eroded or chemical leached into the groundwater). For comparison purposes, the effects of these input combinations on the response variable would have to be assessed under competing policy scenarios. Because the number of input combinations is high in most problems, and because policies to be evaluated are often not in use at the time of the study, practitioners have resorted to simulation experiments to generate data. However, generating data from simulation models is often costly and time consuming; thus, the number of input combinations in a study may be limiting even in simulation experiments. In this paper, we discuss the problem of designing computer simulation experiments that require generating data for just a fraction of the possible input combinations. We propose an approach that is based on subsampling the 1992 National Resources Inventory (NRI) points. We illustrate the procedure by assessing soil erosion in a situation where there are "observed" data [reported by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)] for comparison. The use of a new material (MFPAN) for copper remotion from aqueous solution is reported. An industrial fibber polymer (FPAN)
was modified by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition to include tetrazole moieties, as pendant groups. A minimum ratio Cu/MPFAN is required
to enable precipitation, suggesting a pseudo stoichiometry. Both polymer and metal can be quantitatively recovered from the

The use of dead, dried aquatic plants, for water removal of metals derived from industrial activities as a simple biosorbent material has been increasing in the last years. The mechanism of simultaneous metal removal (Cd2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+ and Pb2+) by 3 macrophytes biomass (Spirodela intermedia, Lemna minor and Pistia stratiotes) was investigated. L. minor biomass presented the highest mean removal percentage and P. stratiotes the lowest for all metals tested. Pb2+ and Cd2+ were more efficiently removed by the three of them. The simultaneous metal sorption data were analysed according to Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. Data fitted the Langmuir model only for Ni and Cd, but Freundlich isotherm for all metals tested, as it was expected. The K(F) values showed that Pb was the metal more efficiently removed from water solution. The adsorption process for the three species studied followed first order kinetics. The mechanism involved in biosorption resulted ion exchange between monovalent metals as counter ions present in the macrophytes biomass and heavy metal ions and protons taken up from water. No significant differences were observed in the metal exchange amounts while using multi-metal or individual metal solutions. 相似文献

This work focuses on assessing the impact of two types of waste pretreatment: addition of bottom ashes and aerobic pretreatment on both the onset and kinetics of methanogenesis and the evolution of different parameters in the leachate. It also studies the correlation between methane production and the different parameters measured in the leachate produced. A total of six 68-L pilots were thus used with fresh municipal solid waste (MSW) shredded to a 40-mm size. After 14months of landfilling, the control has produced less than 10NLkg(-1)DM, which corresponds to around 7% of its biochemical methane potential (BMP). Nevertheless, on one hand for aerobically pretreated waste, the lag phase before the onset of methanogenesis is significantly reduced to 0.9month compared to more than 1year for the control. In addition to that, on average 110NLkg(-1)DM (90% of the BMP) is produced within around 6.5months. On the other hand, the waste with added bottom ash shows a slight improvement of the lag phase over the control for one of the duplicate: 6.1months of lag phase. At this stage, on average of 26NLkg(-1)DM waste are detected (22% of the BMP) no final conclusion concerning the impact of bottom ashes could be made. The data obtained for the leachate parameters agrees with the observations on methane production. Statistical correlation study shows that the two components of the corrected PCA interpret 76% of the variability of the data: SUVA (specific UV absorbance at 254nm) and HPI(*) (% of hydrophilic compounds) are identified as interesting parameters for following up the biodegradation in landfill conditions. 相似文献

Ammonia is the main nitrogenous waste material excreted by gills, then is oxided first to nitrite and then to nitrate. The proportion of ionized-un-ionized ammonia depends on pH and temperature, when this variables increase in a solution containing ammonia the equation goes to left, so the proportion of NH3 increases and the solution becomes more toxic. The purpose of this study was to investigate the acute lethal effects of elevated pH and ammonia on tambaqui juveniles. With a constant ammonia concentration of 5.0 mg/l NH3, there was no mortality a pH of 6.0 (control) and 7.0; but was of 10-20% a pH of 8.0 and 100% at 9.0. The lethal effects of elevated pH and un-ionized ammonia should be recognized as a potential factor contributing to the variable success of tambaqui production ponds, but this species is highly resistant in comparison with other freshwater fish. 相似文献

/ This study is concerned with the role that communication can play in facilitating the utilization of ecological information by different sectors of society involved in environmental decision-making. The ecological information system is used as a conceptual framework. This system is a model for the analysis of interactions between three sectors involved in the management of natural resources: researchers in ecology, change agents, and rural producers. Two case studies of organizations carrying out scientific research aimed at finding and implementing sustainable strategies of resource management were carried out. The purpose was to examine how real situations function in terms of communication strategies and to analyze such situations in relation to the model proposed. The analysis revealed the importance of promoting the feedback of information from change agents and rural producers to the research sector and the incorporation of this information into the research process. It also emphasized the relevance of having "active utilizer constituencies" within the rural producers who make demands upon the entire system in order to satisfy information needs. The creation of linkage systems facilitating the connection between the generation and utilization of information was supported. In particular, the establishment of special teams within research institutions is proposed, which could promote the links between the sectors through the use of communication as an instrument of work. 相似文献
