Modified natural polymers have been gaining increasing scientific interest for many years. In this study carboxymethyl starch (CMS) was grafted with L(+)-lactic acid (LA) in different molar ratios CMS/LA (1/36, 1/22 and 1/12), resulting carboxymethyl starch-g-poly(lactic acid) (CMS-g-PLA) copolymers. The grafting reaction was carried out by solution polycondensation procedure in toluene and stannous 2-ethyl hexanoate Sn(Oct)2 as catalyst was utilized. Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) was synthesized in the same conditions with the copolymers for comparative analyses of the physico-chemical and thermal properties. The copolymers and PLA were structurally and morphologically characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR spectroscopy, WAXD and SEM analyses, taking CMS as reference. The molecular weight of the copolymers, CMS and PLA were determined, using a dynamic light scattering technique. The thermal behavior of the products was studied by DSC and TG-DTG analyses. The CMS-g-PLA graft copolymers exhibited lower Tg and thermal stability than pure CMS. 相似文献

The feasibility of monitoring CO2 migration in a saline aquifer at a depth of about 650 m with cross-hole and surface–downhole electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) is investigated at the CO2SINK test site close to Ketzin (Germany). The permanent vertical electrical resistivity array (VERA) consists of 45 electrodes (15 in the injection well Ktzi201 and 15 in each of the two observation wells Ktzi200 and Ktzi202), successfully placed on the electrically insulated casings, in the depth range of about 590–740 m with a spacing of about 10 m. The three Ketzin wells are arranged as perpendicular triangle with distances of 50 and 100 m.First synthetic modelling studies indicate an increase of the electrical resistivity of about 200% caused by CO2 injection, corresponding to a bulk CO2 saturation of 50%, which is in good agreement with laboratory studies. Finite difference inversion of field data delivers three-dimensional resistivity distributions between the wells which are consistent with the reservoir modelling studies.To increase the limited observation area provided by the cross-hole measurements, additional surface–downhole measurements were deployed. A main CO2 migration in SE–NW direction is deduced from surface to downhole resistivity experiments.The first cross-hole time-lapse results show that the resolution and the coverage of the electrode array in the Ketzin setting are sufficient to resolve the expected resistivity changes on the characteristic length scale of the electrode array. Significant resistivity changes could be measured, however, detailed information on the CO2 plume could not be resolved yet by VERA under the existing geological circumstances. 相似文献

Decimal reduction times (DRT or D-value) of Campylobacter jejuni, Salmonella enterica (formerly Salmonella choleraesuis) serovar Senftenberg, Escherichia coli, and Listeria monocytogenes were determined in two different matrices, diluted fermenter sludge (DFS) and 0.95% NaCl-solution (NaCl) at 50 degrees C, both under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. Depending on aeration, matrix composition, and the respective organism, the D-values varied between 10min and more than 15h. Generally the viability of bacteria decreased faster in DFS compared to NaCl-solution and under aerobic compared to anaerobic conditions. After 24h no viable cells could be detected in DFS, both under aerobic as well as under anaerobic conditions, whereas viable cells were still found in NaCl solutions. In both matrices the detection limits determined by means of PCR-based and classical microbiological methods were compared and pointed to lower detection limits of the latter methods. Results of the present investigation show that test organisms were far from surviving several days in DFS whereas hydraulic retention times normally used for thermophilic anaerobic digestion are in the range of 2 weeks. However, an underestimation of survival rates of the test organisms seems probable when applying aerobic standard methods. 相似文献

Biological early warning systems represent a set of tools that may be able to respond to certain chemical monitoring requirements of recent European legislation, the Water Framework Directive (WFD2000/60/EC), that aims to improve and protect water quality across Europe. In situ biomonitoring was performed along the rivers Meuse (NL), Aller (GER) and Rhine (F) within the frame of the European Union-funded Project SWIFT-WFD. Gammarus pulex was used as a test organism during the evaluation of the Multispecies Freshwater Biomonitor(R) (MFB), an online biomonitor to quantitatively record different behaviour patterns of animals. At the river Meuse G. pulex reacted to pulse exposure of either a mixture of trace metals or of several organic xenobiotics, by showing up to 20% decreased locomotory activity (already at the 1st pulse) and increased mortality (at 2nd or 3rd pulse only). G. pulex deployed within the MFB system were observed to survive well at the monitoring station on the Aller (100%) and monitoring did not result in the measurement of chemical irregularities. In contrast, deployment at the monitoring station on the Rhine river demonstrated that the test organism was able to detect chemical irregularities by up to 20% decreased locomotory activity in the animals. The MFB proved to be an alert system for water quality monitoring at sensitive sites and sites with accidental pollution. 相似文献
