Nitrate-induced photodegradation of atenolol in aqueous solution: kinetics, toxicity and degradation pathways 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The extensive utilization of β-blockers worldwide led to frequent detection in natural water. In this study the photolysis behavior of atenolol (ATL) and toxicity of its photodegradation products were investigated in the presence of nitrate ions. The results showed that ATL photodegradation followed pseudo-first-order kinetics upon simulated solar irradiation. The photodegradation was found to be dependent on nitrate concentration and increasing the nitrate from 0.5 mM L−1 to 10 mM L−1 led to the enhancement of rate constant from 0.00101 min−1 to 0.00716 min−1. Hydroxyl radical was determined to play a key role in the photolysis process by using isopropanol as molecular probe. Increasing the solution pH from 4.8 to 10.4, the photodegradation rate slightly decreased from 0.00246 min−1 to 0.00195 min−1, probably due to pH-dependent effect of nitrate-induced OH formation. Bicarbonate decreased the photodegradation of ATL in the presence of nitrate ions mainly through pH effect, while humic substance inhibited the photodegradation via both attenuating light and competing radicals. Upon irradiation for 240 min, only 10% reduction of total organic carbon (TOC) can be achieved in spite of 72% transformation rate of ATL, implying a majority of ATL transformed into intermediate products rather than complete mineralization. The main photoproducts of ATL were identified by using solid phase extraction-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (SPE-LC-MS) techniques and possible nitrate-induced photodegradation pathways were proposed. The toxicity of the phototransformation products was evaluated using aquatic species Daphnia magna, and the results revealed that photodegradation was an effective mechanism for ATL toxicity reduction in natural waters. 相似文献

In vivo observations in laboratory mesocosms and aquaria, accompanied with in situ photographic surveys, have shown that the burrowing shrimp Calocaris templemani has a significant impact on bottom sediment dynamics and geochemistry in the St. Lawrence Estuary. This burrowing shrimp establishes and maintains complex semi-permanent burrows made up of several interconnected, ‘U-shaped’ galleries with generally four or more openings to the sediment surface. In the Estuary, at 345 m depth, Calocaris average density was estimated at 3.4 individuals m?2. Observed individual burrows reached a maximum volume of 0.54 L. C. templemani displaces this volume of mostly anoxic sediments from the subsurface layers (down to 15 cm) to the sediment surface, thereby obscuring some of the natural stratification patterns. With an estimated turnover rate of about 8 L m?2 year?1 of sediment, our calculations suggest that over a period of about 18.75 years, all the sediment to a depth of 15 cm will have been reworked by C. templemani alone. 相似文献

McKusick-Kaufman syndrome (MKKS) is a rare autosomal recessive genetic disease with classical hexadactyly and hydrocolpos in females and sometimes cardiac abnormality. We report such a case diagnosed just before birth with a favourable outcome. From this case we describe and discuss all the prenatal sonographic signs which are not always present. On the genetic side, the gene has recently been localized together with the mutation responsible for MKKS. The phenotypic relationship between MKKS which has a good prognosis and Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) with a worse prognosis requires great caution before diagnosing MKKS and a long follow-up is necessary to recognize obesity, growth retardation and pigmentary retinitis. Droplet size distribution inside water flashing jets and corresponding rain-out fraction were measured. Mass distribution showed that a few droplets are ‘large’ (d>150 μm) and count for more than 85% of the liquid mass in the jet because of their large individual mass. Rubella is a mild viral disease that typically occurs in childhood. Rubella infection during pregnancy causes congenital rubella syndrome, including the classic triad of cataracts, cardiac abnormalities and sensorineural deafness. Highly effective vaccines have been developed since 1969, and vaccination campaigns have been established in many countries. Although there has been progress, the prevention and diagnosis of rubella remain problematic. We report on our recent efforts towards identifying bacteria in environmental samples by means of Raman spectroscopy. We established a database of Raman spectra from bacteria submitted to various environmental conditions. This dataset was used to verify that Raman typing is possible from measurements performed in non-ideal conditions. Starting from the same dataset, we then varied the phenotype and matrix diversity content included in the reference library used to train the statistical model. The results show that it is possible to obtain models with an extended coverage of spectral variabilities, compared to environment-specific models trained on spectra from a restricted set of conditions. Broad coverage models are desirable for environmental samples since the exact conditions of the bacteria cannot be controlled. 相似文献
