Abstract

The purpose of this article is to classify the regional economic types and development dynamics of small towns in suburb Beijing by applying the classification methods developed by Nelson’s method and Location Quotient method into 183 small towns in Beijing. Four types of small towns are thus identified, including urban agriculture dominated towns, manufacturing dominated towns, service industry dominated towns and comprehensive type towns with balanced economic development. Within the environment of geographical information system, the spatial distribution pattern of four types of small towns with their evolution trend is analyzed. The results indicate that four types of small towns have obvious ‘core-periphery’ spatial structure but with different functional orientations and evolution mechanisms. Based on this, the different development strategies for each type of small towns are summarized, providing a scientific reference for the differentiating planning and development strategies of these small towns.  相似文献

In the last decade, “resilience” has gained increasing recognition as a theoretical framework for understanding and managing change in complex social–ecological systems. Resilience assessments are increasingly used to inform sustainability initiatives, strategies, and policies. The Lewes Pound represents a new complementary currency model in the UK, aiming to build community resilience. However, there have been no empirical studies to date assessing the socio-economic impacts of this model. This article addresses the need to understand how such currencies function by measuring whether the Lewes Pound is capable of building resilience. This is done by developing a novel framework for estimating economic, social, and environmental outcomes, which uses a mixed-methods approach. Findings suggest that complementary currencies can enhance social-ecological resilience through awareness-raising and changes in consumption. Although economic localisation – a key indicator – is lacking, there is evidence that the Lewes Pound has developed social interactions and changed consumption patterns of its users.  相似文献

海岸带是人地关系矛盾较为突出的地带.浙江乐清湾海岸带地区在著名的"温州模式"的熏陶下,其城镇发展具有典型的乡村城市化的特征.本文选取乐清海沿岸的乐清市、玉环县和温岭的23个建制乡镇为研究范围,在阐述乐清湾海岸带地区乡村城市化特征的基础上,从隐性机制和显性机制两方面探讨了研究区以市场推导为主动力的"自下而上"的乡村城市化发展机制.隐性机制,包括农村内部的推动力、城市的拉动力和农民主体观念的转变;显性机制,包括市场激励、政策环境、资金因素、政府作用和交通发展.最后提出了加快小城镇发展的若干调控对策,即进一步加快基础设施建设、优化生产力布局、重点培育优势城镇等.  相似文献

Australia has been a leading mining nation and its mines continue to attract substantial investment due to its strong mineral endowment, mining tradition and high skills base. In recent years Australian mining companies have been facing higher labour costs, which need to be offset by other savings. Automating mine-site machinery offers one potential source of such savings.Underground mines pioneered automated technology largely for safety and mine accessibility reasons and to reduce operating costs. Yet these operations now represent a much smaller portion of the total ore tonnes mined due to the changing mining techniques meaning larger lower grade deposits are becoming economic. It appears the future of mine automation will be directed by surface mining as this maturing technology finds further applications above ground and in the next decade large scale open pit automation trials gain more momentum.This paper assesses the implications of introducing driverless haul trucks in a typical large remote Australian open-pit mine. Such automation will save employee and associated costs, increase operational productive hours and ultimately will reduce mine site workforce numbers. While there will be fewer jobs per mine, with reduced costs and higher productivity some previously uneconomic mines may again be profitable.The social implications of greater mine site automation are the reduction in population of remote mining towns and a decrease in the lower skilled labour requirements for the mining sector. There will be an increase in fly-in fly-out mining operations and companies will establish remote control centres for automated mines in larger cities. This may decrease overall labour requirements and so reduce employment in the sector; therefore, the government should be mindful of implementing policies that ensure a fair return on the economic rent of mineral leases.  相似文献

分析了我国西部中小城镇防震减灾管理现状,借鉴发达国家防震减灾管理的经验,构建了西部中小城镇防震减灾管理体系,包括防震减灾法律保障、行政监管、地震监测预报和预警、防震减灾计划、建筑物和生命线工程的抗震性能保证、防震减灾教育与培训、基层单位对震灾的预防、地震救援组织建设、震灾应急救援服务等彼此关联、相互作用的子系统。指出其建设重点应放在建筑物和生命线工程抗震性能保证、行政监管、防震减灾计划、防震教育培训和基层震灾预防等方面。提出了深化西部中小城镇建设管理体制改革、提高防震减灾社会管理与公共服务水平、加强地震灾害应急救援体系建设等对策和建议。研究成果的运用将有助于增强西部中小城镇的防震减灾管理能力。  相似文献
