Earlier papers indicated that the first incident of green discoloration in oysters (Crassostrea gigas) and the mass mortality observed in 1986 along the Taiwan Erhjin Chi coastal area were caused by the higher contents of total copper and copper species (mainly bioavailable and free ion) in sea water. the copper in sea water would be sorbed by suspended matter and transferred to sediments, and the copper in the sediments would also be desorbed to sea water. Processes of copper adsorption and desorption are the major factors influencing the contents of total copper and copper species in sea water and sediments. in this study, the Erhjin Chi sediments were mixed with sea water by a shaker technique. When the mixture was shaken for one hour, analogous to tidal mixing in estuaries, only copper desorption from sediments was observed. If the shaking time is increased for more than 3 hours, the copper released from the sediments was resorbed to the remaining solid phases. the higher the contents of mud (91.71%) and total copper (701 mg kg-1) in sediments, the higher the copper desorption rate (1.86 ppm hr-1) and copper adsorption rate (0.50 ppm hr-1) were observed. in sediments containing lower mud (0.80%) and lower copper (43.5 mg kg-1), the copper desorption and adsorption rates were 0.83 ppm hr-1 and 0.22 ppm hr-1, respectively. the interactions among the total copper and copper species in sea water and sediments, chemical and ecological parameters, and copper bioaccumulation in oysters in the Erhjin Chi estuarine and coastal area are also discussed. 相似文献

Lichens explants and airborne particulates were analysed for Cr, Zn, Cd, Pb, Ni, Fe, Mn and Cu content in a rural site in the province of Vercelli (Piedmont, N. Italy). Thalliof the fruticose lichen Pseudevernia furfuracea were collected from an uncontaminated area and exposed for one yearusing two different techniques. Particulates were collected using a continuously operating particulate sampler set up nearthe lichens explanted throughout the experiment survey.The results confirm both the importance of assessing contamination in rural areas corroborated by the analysis of the presence of the heavy metals in particulates in relationto the main wind directions and the validity of this lichen asbiomonitor of airborne metal pollution, although meaningfuldifferences were pointed out between the two different techniques of exposure. The significant correlation between most of the metals accumulated by lichens and the metal air concentrations shows a good evidence of their ability to represent atmospheric contamination. 相似文献

“Freely-dissolved” aqueous concentrations of 9 trichlorothrough heptachlorobiphenyls are reported, alongside those in sediments
and fish from the R. Severn. For most congeners, BSAFs and lipid-normalised BAFs for pike exceed those for eels. Whilst R.
Severn BSAFs are comparable with those for L. Ontario trout and New Bedford Harbour flounder, R. Severn BAFs are 1–2 orders
of magnitude lower. This discrepancy may be due to inter-species variability, as well as inter-laboratory differences between
operational definitions of “freely-dissolved” aqueous PCB, underlining that the same operational definition must be employed
if R. Severn BAFs are extrapolated elsewhere. For eels, correlation of Log Kow with Log BAF is better (R2 = 0.66) than with BSAF (R2 = 0.13), whilst similar correlation coefficients (R2 = 0.81 and 0.82) were observed for pike. When Log Kow is plotted against BSAF and Log BAF for both species combined, better correlation is observed for Log BAF (R2 = 0.65), than BSAF (R2 = 0.36). For both species combined, the observed relationship between Log BAF and Log Kow for trichloro-through heptachlorobiphenyls is: Log BAF = 0.96 * Log Kow −0.24. 相似文献

试验合成的有机化合物对藻生长的影响,不仅能对化学品安全评价提供信息,而且对水质富营养化的理论研究和实际治理都有重要意义。Korte教授曾提出把藻对化学品的积累多寡作为评价化学品安全与否的指标之一。西德联邦环境署也推荐了把藻作为水毒理学试验生物之一,并被很多实验室采用了。在上述以藻作为试验生物的实验中,作者们或者是仅仅做积累试验,或者是仅仅做毒性试验,而使用同一化合物进行上述两个试验并比较其结果,以便从中得到有益的启示至今尚未见报道。本文正是基于此想法,试验了一组苯的取代物对小球藻(Chlorella fusca)生长的影响(促进增殖或抑制增殖)以及藻对化合物的积累。 相似文献

This research includes two investigations. The first one is a market basket survey of the levels of arsenic (As) and trace elements in bracken fern (Pteridium aquilinum) originated from three countries: South Korea, China and North Korea. The results showed that the mean As concentrations in stems of samples were significantly higher than those in leaves. As concentrations in all samples did not exceed food safety limits for vegetables. Generally, concentrations of Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn in leaves were higher than those in stems. The second investigation is a survey on the levels of As and other heavy metals in vegetation in the vicinity of Myoungbong mine tailings. The results demonstrated that As, Pb and Cu concentrations and bioaccumulation factors (BCF) in seedlings of the fern(A splenium achilleifolium) were the highest, whereas Marsh horsetail(Equisetum polustre) accumulated the highest levels of Zn. Concentrations of As, Pb, Zn and Cu in vegetable-cress (Lepidium sativum) and the edible herb-aromatic madder (Elasholtzia splendens) were higher than food safety limits. Therefore, a risk assessment of As and other heavy metals in vegetables and herbs on local human health should be conducted in the future. 相似文献

The prevailing hypothesis, which states that the uptake of HOCs by phytoplankton is controlled by the compound's lipophilicity (Kow) was tested. The approach taken was to determine the factors that controlled the uptake of PCBs by phytoplankton under controlled laboratory conditions, and to develop a model that would describe bioaccumulation of PCBs in phytoplankton.The results demonstrate a relationship of BAF to Kow and to phytoplankton surface properties, as well as the data presented here, support the hypothesis that the mechanism of HOC uptake is a rapid surface sorption followed by a slower transfer into lipids in the cell matrix. The work on the kinetics of uptake indicates that equilibrium is reached slowly and that the rate of uptake is of similar magnitude as phytoplankton growth under normal field conditions.Thus a critical factor that controls the bioaccumulation of HOCs reach equilibrium in phytoplankton itself. 相似文献
