We used a dispersion model to analyze measurements made during a field study conducted by the U.S. EPA in July–August 2006, to estimate the impact of traffic emissions on air quality at distances of tens of meters from an eight-lane highway located in Raleigh, NC. The air quality measurements consisted of long path optical measurements of NO at distances of 7 and 17 m from the edge of the highway. Sonic anemometers were used to measure wind speed and turbulent velocities at 6 and 20 m from the highway. Traffic flow rates were monitored using traffic surveillance cameras. The dispersion model [Venkatram, A., 2004. On estimating emissions through horizontal fluxes. Atmospheric Environment 38, 2439–2446] explained over 60% of the variance of the observed path averaged NO concentrations, and over 90% of the observed concentrations were within a factor of two of the model estimates.Sensitivity tests conducted with the model indicated that the traffic flow rate made the largest contribution to the variance of the observed NO concentrations. The meteorological variable that had the largest impact on the near road NO concentrations was the standard deviation of the vertical velocity fluctuations, σw. Wind speed had a relatively minor effect on concentrations. Furthermore, as long as the wind direction was within ±45° from the normal to the road, wind direction had little impact on near road concentrations. The measurements did not allow us to draw conclusions on the impact of traffic-induced turbulence on dispersion. The analysis of air quality and meteorological observations resulted in plausible estimates of on-road emission factors for NO.  相似文献

The Steam-Jet Aerosol Collector-long Pathlength Absorbance Spectroscopy (SJAC-LPAS), an on-line continuous instrument for mobile measurements of spatial distribution of water-soluble hexavalent and trivalent chromium in ambient aerosols, has been developed and is presented here. The system collects particles with the SJAC and analyzes the collected sample on-line using the diphenycarbazide (DPC) colorimetric method. By using a Teflon AF (Amorphous Fluoropolymer) liquid core wave guide, the limit of detection has been significantly improved, allowing on-line measurements at ambient concentrations. The limit of detection for Cr(VI) is 0.2 ng m−3. Water-soluble Cr(III) can also be measured by oxidizing it to Cr(VI) in a parallel line using hydrogen peroxide before the detection with the DPC method. The concentration of Cr(III) is then determined as the difference between the two lines (Cr(VI) and Cr(VI) plus Cr(III)). The instrument was specifically designed to be used on a mobile platform to study spatial distribution of the pollutant within a city on a scale of 100 m. Special attention was given to the time resolution and the stability of the instrument performance under driving conditions. The time resolution of the instrument is 15 s. At a typical driving speed of 30 km h−1 the instrument can detect variations in chromium concentration (“hot spots”) on the scale of about 150 m. The instrument has proven to operate reliably and capture temporal and spatial variability of Cr(VI) concentration during four mobile measurement campaigns in Wilmington, DE.  相似文献

Ultrafine particles are associated with adverse health effects. Total Particle Number Concentration (TNC) of fine particles were measured during 2002 at the St. Louis — Midwest supersite. The time series showed overall low level with frequent large peaks. The time series was analyzed alongside criteria pollutant measurements and meteorological observations. Multiple regression analysis was used to identify further contributing factors and to determine the association of different pollutants with TNC levels. This showed the strong contribution of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) to high TNC levels. The analysis also suggested that increased dispersion resulting from faster winds and higher mixing heights led to higher TNC levels. Overall, the results show that there were intense particle nucleation events in a SO2 rich plume reaching the site which contributed around 29% of TNC. A further 40% was associated with primary emissions from mobile sources. By separating the remaining TNC by time of day and clear sky conditions, we suggest that most likely 8% of TNC are due to regional nucleation events and 23% are associated with the general urban background.  相似文献

用热解析气相色谱法采集分析不同动力公交车微环境中苯系物,研究了江南某旅游城市公交汽油车、柴油车、电车、液化天然气车、油电混合车空气中苯系物的浓度以及主要公交站台的苯系物的浓度。结果表明,公交车微环境中苯系物平均浓度从高到低依次为汽油车>柴油车>油电混合车>液化天然气车>电车,其中汽油车苯含量最高,为(21.02±9.51)μg/m3,各动力公交车的苯暴露对公交司机致癌风险为2.32×10-6~4.79×10-6,超过了美国EPA制定的人体致癌风险限值。  相似文献

Several air toxics are emitted from mobile sources on roadways and these emissions account for a significant fraction of the health risks to the population. In addition, health effect studies are now becoming more comprehensive and some account for the spatial heterogeneities of air pollutant concentration fields (as is the case near roadways). Standard models can simulate either the near-source concentration fields or the urban background, but no model can handle both spatial scales in the vicinity of roadways in a coherent and scientifically correct manner. Here, we present a model that provides such an integrated treatment by combining a grid-based air quality model of the urban background with a plume-in-grid representation of roadway emissions. The model is applied to simulate near-roadway concentrations due to emissions from a busy interstate highway in New York City. Qualitative comparisons with typical measured concentration profiles show that the model captures the observed features of toxic air pollutant concentrations near roadways.  相似文献

为了满足国家有关高风险移动源监管工作要求,研制了具备全球定位系统(GPS)、无线射频识别、辐射剂量监控功能的监控终端硬件,并开发设计了高风险移动源实时监控系统软件平台。对该系统平台软件和监控终端的功能及应用情况进行了分析,针对监控终端结构设计、续航时间较短、耐用性较差、野外信号弱等问题提出后续改进建议。该监控系统可以有效实现高风险移动放射源的动态监控,进一步提升江苏省高风险移动放射源的监管技术水平。  相似文献

对泉州市移动通信GSM基站和TD—SCDMA基站电磁辐射状况进行监测与分析。通过理论计算预测基站电磁辐射安全距离,对典型敏感目标、典型基站进行电磁辐射的监测,结果与理论预测情况相符。选取302个GSM基站和306个TD—SCDMA基站进行电磁辐射的监测,结果表明,各基站电磁辐射满足单个项目管理低于目标限值0.08W/m2的标准。分析表明,基站在正常运行时,对周围的电磁辐射环境影响能满足国家相应标准的要求。  相似文献

对南通市楼顶式移动基站电磁辐射污染进行了调查。结果表明,南通市418个楼顶站基站周边地面50 m范围内电磁辐射功率密度值均能满足《电磁环境控制限值》(GB 8702—2014)的要求;楼顶美化天线、集束天线和景观塔等建设较晚的楼顶塔形地面电磁辐射强度相对较小,楼顶角钢塔、拉线塔和抱杆等建设较早的塔形地面电磁辐射强度相对较大;楼顶塔所在楼顶平台监测值存在轻度超标的情况。提出,应严格控制楼顶塔所在楼顶的人员可达性,即基站电磁辐射防护区应高出楼顶2 m以上,避免公众进入基站电磁辐射防护区内,受到基站天线的过量辐射影响。  相似文献
