Introduction: While improved safety is a highly cited potential benefit of autonomous vehicles (AVs), at the same time a frequently cited concern is the new safety challenges that AVs introduce. The literature lacks a rigorous exploration of the safety perceptions of road users who will interact with AVs, including vulnerable road users. Addressing this gap is essential because the successful integration of AVs into transportation systems hinges on an understanding of how all road users will react to their presence. Methods: A stated preference survey of the Phoenix, Arizona, metropolitan statistical area (Phoenix MSA) was conducted in July 2018. A series of ordered probit models was estimated to analyze the survey responses and identify differences between various population groups with respect to the perceived safety of driving, cycling, and walking near AVs. Results: Greater exposure to and awareness of AVs are not uniformly associated with increases in perceived safety. Various attitudinal factors, level of AV automation, and other intrinsic and extrinsic factors are related to safety perceptions of driving, walking, and cycling near AVs. Socioeconomic and demographic characteristics, such as gender, age, income, employment, and automobile usage and ownership, have various relationships with perceived safety. Conclusions: Cycling near an AV was perceived as the least safe activity, followed by walking and then driving near an AV. Both similarities and differences were observed among the factors associated with the perceived safety of different travel alternatives. Practical Applications: Public perception will guide the development and adoption of AVs directly and indirectly. To help maintain control of public perception, transportation planners, decision makers, and other stakeholders should consider more deliberate and targeted messaging to address the concerns of different road users. In addition, more careful pilot testing and more direct attention to vulnerable road users may help avoid a backlash that could delay the rollout of this technology.  相似文献

区域创新能力差异与协调性的研究对推动长江经济带发展具有重要的现实意义。知识产权资源是创新发展的基础,知识产权区域布局更是与经济发展息息相关。该文构建知识产权发展水平评价指标体系,基于空间自相关、象限法以及耦合协调度等研究方法,研究长江经济带知识产权区域布局及空间演化,并与经济发展进行耦合关系的分析。研究发现:近年来长江经济带的知识产权资源快速发展,具有明显的空间集聚性,表现出东高西低的布局特征;东部的长三角地区是知识产权发展水平较好同时较为均衡的区域;整体上知识产权与经济发展具有较好的耦合关系,但经济发展水平较高的城市,多数城市的知识产权布局仍略为滞后于经济发展,因此创新驱动仍成为制约长江经济带经济发展的关键因素。  相似文献

A process combining catalyzed Fe(0)-carbon microelectrolysis (IC-ME) with activated carbon (AC) adsorption was developed for advanced reclaimed water treatment. Simultaneous nitrate reduction and chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal were achieved, and the effects of composite catalyst (CC) addition, AC addition, and initial pH were investigated. The reaction kinetics and reaction mechanisms were calculated and analyzed. The results showed that CC addition could enhance the reduction rate of nitrate and effectively inhibit the production of ammonia. Moreover, AC addition increased the adsorption capacity of biorefractory organic compounds (BROs) and enhanced the degradation of BRO. The reduction of NO3?–N at different pH values was consistently greater than 96.9%, and NH4+–N was suppressed by high pH. The presence of CC ensured the reaction rate of IC-ME at high pH. The reaction kinetics orders and constants were calculated. Catalyzed iron scrap (IS)-AC showed much better nitrate reduction and BRO degradation performances than IS-AC and AC. The IC-ME showed great potential for application to nitrate and BRO reduction in reclaimed water.

沙尘天气过程对北京空气质量的影响   总被引:6,自引:1,他引:5  
利用气象、沙尘暴特种观测以及环境监测等多种资料,对2010年3月19─22日沙尘天气过程的大气结构、沙尘源地和垂直水平输送条件以及北京近地层气象要素、空气质量的变化特征进行了分析.结果表明:这次强沙尘暴天气过程是由冷空气短波槽快速东移南下、地面冷锋明显发展东移造成的;前期沙尘源地土壤湿度的减小为起沙提供了有利条件,同时低层存在的较强西北气流将从源地卷起的沙尘输送到下游地区;沙尘发生时,20 m气层内风速迅速增大,气层内垂直方向风速梯度也逐渐增大,相对湿度急剧降至20%~30%之间;受这次沙尘天气影响,北京地区ρ(TSP)以及10个区县的ρ(PM10)均迅速增加,空气质量达到重污染.  相似文献

污泥活性炭理化性质表征及吸附抗生素效果研究   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
文章以北京方庄污水处理厂的浓缩和脱水污泥为原料,采用ZnCl2活化法分别制备污泥活性炭。对制得的污泥活性炭进行表征,并将其应用于加替沙星废水的处理。研究2种污泥活性炭吸附反应的吸附时间、吸附剂投加量、pH值、初始浓度4个因子对吸附量的影响,设计正交实验。正交实验结果表明:2种污泥活性炭受到4个因子影响程度相当,表现出明显的相似性,但短期吸附时,脱水污泥表现出更好的吸附性能。初始浓度对吸附量的影响最大,获得最大吸附量的条件组合为:初始浓度200 mg/L,投加量0.05 g,pH=9,t=2 h。浓缩和脱水污泥活性炭的最大吸附量分别可达34.541 mg/g和34.925 mg/g,表明2种污泥活性炭对加替沙星均有良好的吸附效果。污泥活性炭作为一种废水吸附剂,是废水处理的一种新途径。  相似文献

为了解胞外聚合物(EPS)对污泥水解酸化处理的影响,采用批量试验研究了污泥厌氧水解酸化处理过程中EPS的变化以及温度、pH值、污泥来源、污泥浓度对其的影响.结果表明,pH值和污泥来源对EPS产率、成分有显著的影响.强酸性和强碱性条件下污泥水解过程中溶解性EPS产率是中性条件下的2倍多;强酸性条件下细胞破裂较多,DNA物质占总EPS含量的20%左右;强碱性条件多糖类物质溶出量占总EPS的80%以上.A/O工艺污泥水解酸化EPS产率最大,平均值为41.1mg/gVSS;其次为SBR、氧化沟(OD)和A2/O工艺污泥,其中OD工艺污泥水解酸化产生的EPS中糖类与蛋白质的质量比(φ)值远小于其他工艺污泥.温度由18℃升高至35℃时,溶解性EPS产率增加近50%,多糖所占比例逐渐增大.污泥浓度由2000mg/L升高至6000mg/L,EPS产率增大至38.1mg/gVSS,当污泥浓度达到8000mg/L时,EPS产率明显减少(23.1mg/gVSS).  相似文献
