AbstractThis study aimed to compare the toxicity for fish of two active ingredients (lambda-cyhalothrin-20?g L?1, a pyrethroid, and acetamiprid-15?g L?1, a neonicotinoid) which are components of a commercial insecticide (Acer 35 EC) used in cotton crop in many West African countries. The juveniles of Oreochromis niloticus (4.01?±?0.34?g, mean body weight) were exposed for 96?h to increasing concentrations of active ingredients (lambda-cyhalothrin and acetamiprid) or a mixture similar to Acer 35 EC (composed by 20?g of chemical compound lambda-cyhalothrin and 15?g of acetamiprid dissolved in 1?L of acetone). The experiments were carried out under controlled conditions in aquaria according to OECD Guidelines. During the experiments, the behavioral responses (loss of balance, color change, hyperactivity, etc.) that usually precede death were observed in exposed fish. Mortalities were recorded in each aquarium and the LC50-96h of each chemical was determined. The LC50-96h obtained were respectively 0.1268, 0.0029, 182.9 and 0.5685?ppm for Acer 35 EC, lambda-cyhalothrin, acetamiprid and mixture. All insecticides used in this study had profound impact on Nile tilapia behavior which may confirm the neurotoxicity of each single active compound as well as of their mixture. 相似文献

This article reports the computational and experimental results of the thermal decomposition of permethrin, a potential source of dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDD) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF). We have performed a quantum chemical analysis by applying density functional theory to obtain the decomposition pathways of permethrin and the formation mechanism of dibenzofuran. We have conducted the pyrolysis experiments in a tubular reactor and identified the pyrolysis products to demonstrate the agreement between the experimental measurements and quantum chemical calculations. The initiation of the decomposition of permethrin involves principally the aromatisation of permethrin into 3-phenoxyphenylacetic acid, 2-methylphenyl ester (J) and concomitant loss of 2HCl. This rearrangement is followed by the rupture of the O–CH2 linkage in J, with a rate constant derived from the quantum chemical results of 1 × 1015 exp(−68 kcal/mol/RT) s−1 for temperatures between 700 and 1300 K. This is confirmed by finding that the rate constant for unimolecular rearrangement of permethrin into J is 1.2 × 1012 exp(−53 kcal/mol/RT) s−1 over the same range of temperatures and exceeds the direct fission rate constant at all temperatures up to 850 ± 120 °C as well as by the experimental detection of J prior to the detection of the initial products incorporating diphenyl ether, 1-methyl-3-phenoxybenzene, 3-phenoxybenzaldehyde and 1-chloromethyl-3-phenoxybenzene. As the temperature increases, we observe a rise in secondary products formed directly or indirectly (via phenol/phenoxy) including aromatics (naphthalene), biphenyls (biphenyl, 4-methyl-1,1′-biphenyl) and dibenzofuran (DF). In particular, we discover by means of quantum chemistry a direct route from 2-phenoxyphenoxy to naphthalene. We detect no polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans. Technol. 41, 6425–6432] where significant yields of both PCDD and PCDF were obtained, under non-oxidative conditions the thermal decomposition of permethrin does not form appreciable amounts of PCDD or PCDF and the presence of oxygen (and/or a sizable radical pool) appears necessary for the formation of dibenzo-p-dioxin itself or PCDD/F from phenol/phenoxy. 相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate associations between pyrethroids occupational exposures, and risk of abnormal glucose regulation. Data from total of 3080 subjects in two pesticide factories were used. This was a population-based case-controlled study in China. In total, 18.3% of subjects with impaired glucose regulation (IGR) and 6.5% of subjects with diabetes, and the prevalence of abnormal glucose regulation was 24.8%, 86 subjects had known type 2 diabetes and 114 had newly diagnosed diabetes. The prevalence of subjects with abnormal glucose regulation increased from 21.3% in the controls to 29.3% in the exposures (χ2 = 33.182, P < 0.001). Multivariate logistic regression was used to control potential confounders and calculate odd ratios as the estimate of effect. An indication of increased risk for abnormal glucose regulation was noted for exposure to pyrethroids (OR = 1.482, 95%CI = 1.238-1.774). Abnormal glucose regulation is common in subjects exposed to pyrethroids. The present investigation indicates the adverse health effects of pyrethroids are underestimated. 相似文献

Occurrence and potential toxicity of pyrethroids and other insecticides in bed sediments of urban streams in central Texas 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Despite heavy insecticide usage in urban areas, only a few studies have investigated the impact of current-use insecticides on benthic invertebrates in urban streams. The objective of this study was to measure the presence and concentration of current-use pesticides in sediments of residential streams in central Texas. Additionally, toxicity of these sediments to Hyalella azteca was evaluated. Sediment samples were collected from several sites in urban streams over the course of a year, of which, 66% had greater than one toxic unit (TU) of insecticide. Bifenthrin was the greatest contributor accounting for 65% of the TUs, and sediment toxicity to H. azteca correlated with the magnitude of total insecticides and bifenthrin TUs. The results of this study further raise concerns over the environmental consequences posed by many current-use insecticides, especially pyrethroids, in urban settings. 相似文献

Presence of pyrethroid insecticides in human breast milk and in thatch wall material of dwellings from Southern Africa subtropical area (Manhiça, Mozambique) was investigated to assess potential pyrethroid route of human exposure. Human breast milk samples were collected during 2002 when pyrethroids were widely used as insecticides for mosquito bed nets in Mozambique for malaria control. The median concentration value of total pyrethroids ranged between 87 and 1200 ng/g lw, with λ-cyhalothrin being the most predominant pyrethroid in human breast milk contributing for 35% of the total amount. Moreover, and for the first time, an isomer-specific enrichment was found in human breast milk, showing a selective isomeric accumulation or metabolism in the human body. Based on the calculated pyrethroid concentrations in human breast milk, the daily ingestion rate of pyrethroid was estimated. The nursing infant dietary intake ranged from 0.67 to 9.0 μg (kg of body weight)− 1 day− 1. In addition, thatch materials collected after the reintegration of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethene (DDT) as insecticide residual spraying (IRS) in Mozambique, showed the presence of pyrethroids with concentration values ranging between 6.9 and 700 ng/g dw. In thatch material as well as in human breast milk, pyrethroid contamination was mainly attributed to the agriculture usage of this insecticide knowing that agriculture represent the 80% of the economy in Mozambique. However, a possible usage of this insecticide as IRS in Mozambique cannot be excluded despite their low efficiency for malaria control. The continued use of these compounds (both for agriculture and malaria prevention) and the ingestion rates calculated from the breast milk concentrations indicate that these insecticides cannot be overlooked for the assessment of the lactation risks of breastfeeding infants from the Manhiça region. 相似文献

Abstract Deltamethrin is a powerful neuroactive agent causing increased neurotransmitter release at the synapse. To understand the cause for such an action of this pyrethroid insecticide, we have studied its binding characteristics to the calcium channel by utilizing 3H‐verapamil as a specific ligand. It was found that deltamethrin is capable of competing at the same binding site as 3H‐verapamil. Also, it was found that nonlabeled verapamil could reduce the binding of 3H‐deltamethrin (tested at 1 nM) to its binding site. The EC50 value of verapamil to displace 50% of 3H‐deltamethrin was in the order of 0.3 μM, which coincides with the approximate KD value for this ligand to bind with calcium channels in the rat brain synaptosomal plasma membranes. 相似文献
