Hazardous wastes are generated in the synthesis of dyes and pigments applied in industries. Efficient methods are thus needed to clean wastewaters. Here, we use anodic oxidation and electro-Fenton with B-doped diamond anode to degrade the synthetic dye indigo in aqueous sodium dithionite. Results show the near-complete mineralization of the dye within 80 min at 500 mA. Mineralization was faster by electro-Fenton than anodic oxidation. The second-order rate constant (k) for the reaction of indigo with ·OH was measured as 4.03 × 109 M?1 s?1 at pH 3.0 and was compared with the rate constants of reactions between dyes and ·OH. The results clearly demonstrate that both electro-Fenton and anodic oxidation can be used to depollute dyes in textile effluent with high efficiency and low cost. The main oxidant, ·OH, being a non-selective reagent, the method could be applied to degrade other organic pollutants.  相似文献

The photodegradation of aqueous solutions containing 0.2 mM methyl parathion has been studied through the optimization of the [H2O2]/[Fe3+] ratio in a Fe3+/H2O2/UV-C flow system of 1.3 L capacity. The decay kinetics and TOC abatement have been analyzed for the experiments performed at pH 3.0 and room temperature. All experiments lead to the total methyl parathion destruction after a few minutes, following a pseudo-first-order decay kinetics. Total mineralization can be reached after 120 min at the optimum ratio found, due to the synergistic effect of the very oxidizing hydroxyl radical (·OH) produced via the Fenton reagent and the effective photodecarboxylation at 253.7 nm.  相似文献

The electro-Fenton process was used to assess the degradation of methyl parathion (MP) in aqueous solutions. This oxidation process allows the production of hydroxyls radicals which react on the organic compounds, leading to their mineralization. Degradation experiments were performed either in perchloric, sulphuric, hydrochloric and nitric acid media under current controlled electrolysis conditions at different pH. The pH effect as well as the nature of the medium (i.e., the nature of the ions present in medium) on the degradation and mineralization efficiency were studied. The mineralization of the initial pollutant was investigated by total organic carbon measurements which show a complete mineralization at pH 3 in perchloric medium. The absolute rate constant of MP hydroxylation reaction was determined as (4.20+/-0.11)x10(9)M(-1)s(-1). Complete degradation of MP and its metabolites occur in less than 45min. Degradation reaction intermediates such as aromatic compounds, carboxylic acids and inorganic ions were identified and a mineralization pathway is proposed.  相似文献
