Grafted Norway spruce trees were subjected to exposure beginning in April 1988, to one of four different air treatments in open-top chambers: Charcoal filtered air (CF), non-filtered air (NF), non-filtered air with the addition of O(3) during summer (NFO), and SO(2) plus NO(2) during winter (NFOSN). CF trees were considered as the reference group. No effects on growth parameters were observed. Samples of the two youngest needle year classes were taken late in November 1989 for enzyme determinations. The activity of ascorbic acid peroxidase (A-POD) increased the same level in all treatments, and activities of catalase and dehydroascorbic acid reductase (DHA-R) increased only in NF and NFO treatments. A higher level of activity in the NFOSN treatment was observed only for glucose-6-phosphate-dehydrogenase (Glc-6-P-DH) and non-specific peroxidase (POD). Isoelectric focusing of POD showed a changed pattern in the NFOSN treatment. Neither activity nor isoelectric focusing of superoxidase dismutase (SOD) was changed in any of the treatments.  相似文献

With aim to provide information on chemical contaminants in byproducts in animal feed, the data from an official control by the Danish Plant Directorate during 1998–2009, were reviewed and several samples of citrus pulp and dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) were additionally collected for analysis and risk assessment. The levels of contaminants in the samples from the official control were below maximum limits from EU regulations with only a few exceptions in the following groups; dioxins and dioxin-like polychlorobiphenyls (PCBs) in fish-containing byproducts and dioxins in vegetable and animal fat, hydrogen cyanide in linseed, and cadmium in sunflowers. The levels of pesticides and mycotoxins in the additionally collected samples were below maximum limits. Enniatin B (ENN B) was present in all DDGS samples. The hypothetical cases of carry-over of contamination from these byproducts were designed assuming total absorption and accumulation of the ingested contaminant in meat and milk and high exposure (a byproduct formed 15–20% of the feed ration depending on the species). The risk assessment was refined based on literature data on metabolism in relevant animal species. Risk assessment of contaminants in byproducts is generally based on a worst-case approach, as data on carry-over of a contaminant are sparse. This may lead to erroneous estimation of health hazards. The presence of ENN B in all samples of DDGS indicates that potential impact of this emerging mycotoxin on feed and food safety deserves attention. A challenge for the future is to fill up gaps in toxicological databases and improve models for carry-over of contaminants.  相似文献

Cyclic hydroxamic acids and lactams are allelochemicals present in the common agricultural crops wheat, rye, and maize. The hydroxamic acids are mainly present in the plants as glucosides. Upon injury or insect attack or when exuded to the soil environment, the hydroxamic acids occur in their unstable agluconic form. In the first step in the transformation of hydroxamic acids, benzoxazolinones are formed spontaneously. It is necessary to elucidate the further microbial transformation of these compounds in the soil environment for a purposeful exploitation of the allelopathic properties of wheat, rye, and maize. In the present paper, the existing knowledge on microbial transformation products of benzoxazolin-2-one (BOA), 6-methoxy-benzoxazolin-2-one (MBOA), and 2-hydroxy-1,4-benzoxazin-3-one (HBOA) was reviewed. Three main groups of transformation products were identified: aminophenoxazinones, malonamic acids, and acetamides. Future research needs concerning the transformation of these chemicals in soil are discussed, when their properties for suppressing weeds and soil-borne diseases are going to be exploited.  相似文献

The aim of the present study was to examine if ozone produced similar effects on spring wheat growth with and without small amounts of nitrogen oxides. Two methods were used to produce ozone: the first method consisted of dry pressurized air fed to an electric discharge generator generating the byproducts, N2O5 and N2O, the second method consisted of ambient air fed to UV-lamps. Two spring wheat cultivars (Triticum aestivum L. cvs Minaret and Eridano) were exposed in small open-top chambers to charcoal-filtered air, non-filtered ambient air, and non-filtered ambient air with the addition of ozone for 8 h (0900 to 1700 h) daily, for five weeks. Plants were harvested every week. The growth of Minaret was shown to be more sensitive to O3 than that of Eridano. Leaf senescence increased with increasing ozone level in both cultivars. The total above-ground biomass dry weight decreased with increasing ozone concentration in Minaret, but not in Eridano. The Minaret plants reacted with more damaged leaf dry weight and inhibition of growth when O3 was produced by UV-lamps than when O3 was produced by air fed to an electric discharge generator. This could be explained by more nitrogen content per plant but not by increased nitrogen concentration in plant tissue in plants exposed to increased O3 and small amounts of incidental nitrogen oxides.  相似文献

Seedlings of Betula pubescens were grown at two CO(2) concentrations, in combination with either two O(3) concentrations or two air temperatures, during 34-35 days at 24 h day(-1) photoperiod in growth chambers placed in a greenhouse. Increasing the CO(2) concentration from 350 to 560 micromol mol(-1) at 17 degrees C air temperature increased the dry weight of the main leaves, main stem, branches and root. The mean relative growth rate (RGR) was increased 10% by CO(2) enrichment, while increasing the O(3) concentration from 7 to 62 nmol mol(-1) decreased the RGR by 9%. The relative biomass distribution between the different plant components was not significantly affected by the CO(2) concentration irrespective of the O(3) concentration. No significant interactions between CO(2) and O(3) concentration were found except on leaf size, which was stimulated more by elevated CO(2) concentration at high, compared to low, O(3) levels. In another experiment, elevated CO(2) (700 micromol mol(-1)) significantly increased the dry weight of the different plant components, and more at 20 degrees C than at 15 degrees C. Raising the CO(2) concentration increased the RGR by 5 and 10% at 15 and 20 degrees C, respectively. CO(2) enrichment increased the branch dry weight relatively more than the dry weight of the other plant parts. Increasing the CO(2) concentration or temperature increased the plant height and stem diameter, however, no interactions between CO(2) and temperature were found.  相似文献
