A novel gas purification system employing membrane contactors with dense membranes in the absorption as well as the desorption unit has been tested concerning the separation efficiency of CO2. The separation efficiency of potassium carbonate (K2CO3) promoted by piperazine (PZ) as absorption medium has been tested in the absorption unit. Since the absorbent will be regenerated in the desorption unit, the influence of temperature, sweep flow rate and absorbent type (0.5 M K2CO3 and 0.5 M K2CO3/0.5 M PZ) on the separation efficiency of CO2 in the desorption unit has been investigated. Desorption by vacuum has been considered as well.In addition experimental results of the coupling of a bioreactor producing hydrogen by anoxygenic photosynthesis (low and fluctuating product gas flow rates and fluctuating compositions) with a membrane contactor for gas purification are reported. This article investigates the impact that the electricity tariff reform is likely to have on investments in renewable energies (i.e., photovoltaics) and the adoption of energy efficiency measures (i.e., installation of heat pumps and efficient home appliances) in the residential market in Italy. Ozone (O3) concentration and flux (Fo) were measured using the eddy covariance technique over a wheat field in the Northwest-Shandong Plain of China. The O3-induced wheat yield loss was estimated by utilizing O3 exposure-response models. The results showed that: (1) During the growing season (7 March to 7 June, 2012), the minimum (16.1 ppbV) and maximum (53.3 ppbV) mean O3 concentrations occurred at approximately 6:30 and 16:00, respectively. The mean and maximum of all measured O3 concentrations were 31.3 and 128.4 ppbV, respectively. The variation of O3 concentration was mainly affected by solar radiation and temperature. (2) The mean diurnal variation of deposition velocity (Vd) can be divided into four phases, and the maximum occurred at noon (12:00). Averaged Vd during daytime (6:00–18:00) and nighttime (18:00–6:00) were 0.42 and 0.14 cm/sec, respectively. The maximum of measured Vd was about 1.5 cm/sec. The magnitude of Vd was influenced by the wheat growing stage, and its variation was significantly correlated with both global radiation and friction velocity. (3) The maximum mean Fo appeared at 14:00, and the maximum measured Fo was − 33.5 nmol/(m2·sec). Averaged Fo during daytime and nighttime were − 6.9 and − 1.5 nmol/(m2·sec), respectively. (4) Using O3 exposure-response functions obtained from the USA, Europe, and China, the O3-induced wheat yield reduction in the district was estimated as 12.9% on average (5.5%–23.3%). The topography and motion of contaminant plumes in groundwater may be determined by surveying the three-dimensional distribution of contaminant freights [1] as well as through a period-integral monitoring by contaminant dosimeters [1]. Conventional methods of taking water samples for chemical analysis cannot fulfill any of these requirements. Sorption active passive collectors suitable for corresponding surveys in gaseous phases are unsuitable for examination in aquifers. Passive collectors for the examination of undisturbed aquifers represent the central part of a probing device system developed by the authors for monitoring chemical and hydraulic parameters within all kinds of aquifers. These passive collectors permit both a determination of the relative contaminant freights at deliberate vertical spacing of vertically ordered measuring points, and period-integrating detection of vertical profiles of relative contaminant freights. The easy-to-handle passive collectors are suitable for the collection of organic and inorganic contaminants and may be evaluated by standardized chemical analysis methods. In this way, passive collectors fulfill the essential prerequisites for purpose-oriented monitoring of contaminant plumes. Moreover, passive collectors for ground water monitoring are well suited for the in situ-examination of any other aquifer, both still and fluent, regardless of its depth or extent. By means of environmental education, teachers are supposed to intervene in pupils’ awareness and concern of environmental
issues. Teachers’ environmental attitudes, however, have rarely been studied. We analysed 367 German pre- and in-service teachers’
environmental attitudes for their structure and socio-economic correlates within the frame of a European project. Thus, we
retrieved for adults the two-dimensional model of ecological values (2-MEV) presented for adolescents by Bogner and Wiseman
(Sci Educ Int 15(1):27–48, 2004). For the two domains, Preservation and Utilisation, the psychometric structure was confirmed and discriminative correlations
