Abstract: | A prediction model based on the partial least squares of the multivariate statistical analysis methods was developed for the flash point (FP) of binary liquid mixtures. Estimation of the FP of flammable substances is important for safety measures in industrial processes. Since experimental FP data of liquid mixtures are scarce in the literature, there have been many researches to estimate the FP of liquid mixtures using physicochemical laws. In this study, the partial least squares (PLS) method using experimental data was used as a prediction model of the FP of binary liquid mixtures. The FPs predicted from the PLS method were also compared to results from the existing calculating methods using physicochemical laws such as Raoult's law and the Van Laar equation. |
