Faunal comparison of the gammarid amphipoda (crustacea) in two Bathyal Basins of the California Continental Borderland

Based on 18 epibenthic sled samples, the species composition and relative abundance of the gammarid amphipod assemblages in the San Diego Trough and Tanner Basin were found to be very different, despite their similar depths (1, 250 m) and relative proximity. Differences in sedimentary regime and food sources seem the most likely vauses of the observed faunal differences.
