Abstract:Effect of bio-drying with various ventilation temperature (room temperature,40 ℃,55℃,65 ℃) was investigated on high-water-content municipal solid waste (MSW). The results showed that the variation of ventilating temperature had less effect on temperature of the piles. Ventilation with high temperature(65℃) could effectively reduce the water content of MSW, but against the degradation of organics. The values of volatile solid (VS) and biodegradable materials (BDM) of product were highest, but the stability was least. After 15 days’ bio-drying, with the degradation of food waste and paper, etc., the water contents of MSW in 4 groups of reactors were significantly reduced. Water- removal rates were 77.99% ,79.37% ,79.85% and 79.47%. Moreover, positive correlation was between ventilation temperature and heating value. Wet lower heating value of effluents in 4 reactors were 7 202 kJ/kg,9 276.4 kJ/kg, 9 358.5 kJ/kg and 10 064 kJ/kg, increased for 72.2%, 122.7%, 123.7% and 140.6%, respectively.
Keywords:Bio-drying  aeration temperature  water content  degradation  lower heating value
