Comparison of the Methods for Measuring Sediment Oxygen Demand

Introduction on the processes and operational parameters of laboratory methods and field methods to measure SOD were presented. As to laboratory methods, the following aspects were discussed, such as, sampling, measuring containers, laboratory sediment thickness, overlaying water, measurement and incubation conditions, methods for measuring DO, DO measuring time and intervals, blank sample measurement and SOD calculation methods. As to field methods, the following aspects were discussed: measuring containers, hydraulic conditions, methods to measure DO, blank sample measurement, DO measuring time and intervals, SOD calculation methods. Finally, the principles, techniques and expenses were compared between these two methods.
