Abstract:Metallothio-peptide(MP)of water hyacinth(Eichhornia crassipes) rootdetermined by lineat sweep polarography(LSP)is demonstrated feasible andeffective indicator for monitoring the heavy metal pollution in water.It isshown from the following experimental results 1)root plays a dominant role inup taking and accumulating heavy metals from Water body;2)t test indicatesthat the corelation between the contents of water metals and metals or MP in theroot is significant;3)the field investigations show that the contents of metalsor MP in the root are parallel to one of water metals.In addition,it ispracticable to use LSP to monitor Mp of the plant tissues.
