| Abstract: | Resources and environment information system, which is also called geography information system(GIS), is an important tool to study population, resources and environment. GIS is a set of technique systems that handle geographical space data's input, storage, management, selection, treatment and synthetical analysis of all the elements of population, resources and environment with the help of computer hardware and software. This paper discusses the defination and significance of GIS, its development in China, and the characteristics of application and proposes the brilliant prospects of GIS establishment and application. |
