New Progress in Environmental Strategy

he new progresses in environmental strategy sincethe 1980s were discussed,which were characterized by the following aspects:(1)Environmental strategy has been expanded to cover the fields of socioeconomic development,forming a new strategyfor environment and development;(2)Priority ofenvironmental strategy has shifted from pollutioncontrol to ecosystems and resources conservation;(3)Measures for pollution control have changedfrom the end-of-pipe treatment or wastes to cleanerproduction, including the production of greenproducts;(4)One of the primary approaches toecological and environmental conservation has beenfound to be developing economy while eliminatingpoverty; and (5)The national strategy of adeveloping country for environment anddevelopment should be in combination with theglobal environmental strategy while takinginternational cooperation into account. The futureenvironmental strategy of China, expressed by theChina's Agenda 21,has been also described.
