Species Sensitivity Distribution and Its Application in Ecotoxicology

Species sensitivity distribution(SSD)is an extrapolation method, which is based on the single-species toxicity test. In recent years, the applications of SSD in ecotoxicology have become the research hotspots. In the view, the conditions of use of SSD in ecotoxicology, the basics connotation of SSD, and the processes of model development are summarized. The applications of SSD include two aspects: the derivation of environmental quality criteria and ecological risk assessment for contaminated ecosystems. The uncertainty and the research trends of SSD are discussed.
