ON THE SELECTION OF STRATEGIC INDUSTRIES OF HUBEI PROVINCE

On the basis of functions of strategic industries, the characteristics of geographical locationand the combination of resources of Hubei Province, this paper establishes four principles--principle of resource superiority, principle of comparative economy superiority, principle of linked effects, and principle of supply-demand elasticity and productivity rise--as a criterion to choosestrategic industries. According to these principles, the paper analyses related industries that aresuitable for Hubei I s economical development, and emphasizes the favorable conditions andprospective market of iron -- steel industry, car industry, real estate industry, etc. After comprehensive consideration, it is suggested that the strategic industries of Hubei Province should be carindustry, iron and steel industry, electric prower industry, real estate industry and Information industry.
