Abstract:
Alumina was studied as a model matrix for formation and dechlorination reactions of PCDDs and PCDFs. Only small differences in PCDD and PCDF formation were found between de-novo synthesis on alumina and on fly ash. The amounts of PCDDs and PCDFs formed on acidic alumina were much larger than on neutral and alkaline alumina. OCDD and OCDF were rapidly dechlorinated on basic alumina.
