| Abstract: | Carbon tetrachloride(CTC) is an ozone depleting substance(ODS),and its production and consumption is scheduled to be phased out by 2010 according to the requirement of the Montreal Protocol.This paper presents CTC production technology,feedstock applications of CTC in producing bulk and fine chemicals,as well as process agent applications of CTC in chemical industry in China and their phaseout approaches.Meanwhile,the recent technological advances in converting CTC to non-ODS chemicals are reviewed. |
