Simultaneous passive sampling of volatile organic compounds

In this paper, the results obtained in the simultaneous passive sampling of toluene, hexane, methyl ethyl ketone and ethyl acetate on activated charcoal are presented and compared with results obtained when the compounds were tested individually. Any observed deviations in the sampling rate are possibly due to the variations in the adsorption efficiency or in the coefficients of desorption caused by the presence of more than one adsorbate, though in all cases the values obtained are within the accepted margins recommended by NIOSH
