Abstract:Experiments were conducted with 3 hybrid corn varieties in 8 sites on sunny and shadow slopes at altitude of 600 m,900 m,1 200 m, and 1 500 m above sea level. As altitude rose per 100 m, plant height of hybrid corn was decreased by 2.4 cm and growth period was delayed by 4.0 d. Furthermore, there were highly significant differences in hybrid corn yields between the sunny and slopes. Compared with those on the sunny slope, the plant height was increased by 3.9 cm, the growth period was delayed by 3.2 d and the yield was reduced by 352.1 kg hm -2 on the shadow slope. The interaction between altitude and variety was significant. However, the interactions between altitude and slope aspect, slope aspect and variety, and among altitude, slope aspect and variety were not observed in in the yield of hybrid corn. This study provides a basis for the layout and cultivation of hybrid corn in mountain areas. Tab 3, Ref 10
