ON FURTHERING THE DEVELOPMENT OF COTTON PLANTATION IN THE YANGTZE VALLEY

The paper points out the development process of cotton production in Yangtze River Valley. During this process, cotton purchase and export have decreased consecutively because of increasing consumption. Yangtze River Valley is one of the main textile industry bases of China and developing cotton production can provide enough raw material for textile industry. There are three subregions in Yangtze River Valley. Each subregion has its own plantation condition and producing scale, so the development direction and goal are also different. According to the cotton demand supply situation of China, the scale of cotton plantation in Yangtze River Valley should be enlarged.
