Abstract: | ![]() Chemical analysis of heavy metals in the insoluble residue, collected in standard dust fallout gauges, has enabled both the source of dust to be identified and its distribution to be measured over a wide area. A characteristic metal such as manganese has enabled dust from a brick manufacturing industry to be distinguished from Interference due to localized dust in a residential area. Analysis for cadmium, copper, lead, zinc and other metals in dust showed that dust was blown across residential areas more than 10 km from ore concentrate dumps. |
