Evaluation and Spatial Distribution of Ecosystem Services in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area

Abstract:The key ecologically fragile areas of the Yangtze River upstream(Chongqing section)in the Three Gorges Reservoir re⁃gion was taken as the research area,the service functions of biodiversity maintenance,water conservation,and soil and water reten⁃tion were studied based on RS and GIS techniques.And with the NPP quantitative index evaluation method,the importance of eco⁃system services in the study area and their spatial differentiation characteristics was analyzed comprehensively.The results showed that:(1)The importance of biodiversity maintenance function is mainly in the status of general significance,accounting for 43.16%and mainly distributed in the west flat region of the study area;(2)the importance of water conservation function is predominant in the status of significance,accounting for 52.76%,mainly distributed in the parallel range-valley anticline agroforestry zone;(3)the importance of soil and water conservation function is mainly in the status of significance,accounting for 48.65%,and concentrated in the horizontal range-valley zone and the banks of major rivers;(4)the importance of ecosystem services function accounts for 52.43%in the significant status,which is distributed in the transition zone from hills to mountains and the“four mountains”region in the central urban area.
