Preliminary Study on Aquatic Ecological Assessment Index of Yangtze River Basin

By investigating the habitat and aquatic organism indices in the foreign preoccupant aquatic ecological evaluation projects since 1990s,the use frequency of 14 types of habitat indicators was counted. According to different river types, 11 habitat assessment indicators of 6 types were selected as the recommended habitat evaluation indicators for the rivers in the Yangtze River Basin,including physical morphological characteristics,riparian zone status,habitat composition,habitat complexity,human disturbance and water quality status.Then,the analytic hierarchy process was used to statistically analyze the assessment indices of foreign aquatic organisms,and 11 applicable indices were selected. At the same time,the research literature and data from January 1,2001 to January 1,2021 were searched and collected through the Chinese journal full text database (CNKI) with the keywords of "Yangtze River","aquatic organisms","aquatic ecology" and "health assessment",from which a total of 66 articles related to the study of assessment indicators and assessment methods were selected.Based on the summary and statistics of a large number of relevant studies carried out in China and the screening results of applicability assessment indices of aquatic organisms abroad,the recommended aquatic biological evaluation indices for each region were summarized and put forward:a total of 3 types of biological groups (algae,macrobenthos and fish) and 12 assessment indices were recommended (Shannon-Wiener index,Pielou evenness index,biological diatom index,Margalef richness index,algae-index of biotic integrity,Goodnight index,family-level biotic index,Hilsenhoff biotic index,multivariate-AZTI''s marine biotic index,fish-index of biotic integrity,and the number of settled fish species in the estuary).
