The telecommunication capability of digital strong motion seismographs,especially the communication capability with the Internet is an important basis for the establishment of a future digital telemetered network of strong motion observations The present paper gives a brief outline of the telecommunication functions of the K2 Altus type digital strong motion recorder and outlines in details the steps of realizing the hardware installation,the setting of parameters and the two communication modes (answer and auto call) at both the terminals of the K2 system,on the basis of the idea of realizing the connection of the remote terminals of the equipment through the public telephone network Finally,the paper discussed the safety of the observation data obtained by the K2 type strong motion seismograph on the network
