Abstract:By analyzing the content of heavy metals of water substance in Nansha River, the distribution characteristics of heavy metals were discussed.Index of geo-accumulation and potential ecological risk of heavy metals in sediment was assessed by the method of potential ecological risk index. Results indicated:Nansha River doesn’t have been polluted by heavy metals seriously.the index of geo-accumulation(Igeo)classify are between 0~3,the contamination levels are from non to middle,Various heavy metals pollution degree from high to low in turn is: Zn>As>Pb>Cu>Cr>Cd.Potential ecological risk of heavy metals in sediment exhibits light to middle, with Cd as priority risk.
Keywords:Nansha River  Sediment  Heavy metal  Index of geo-accumulation  Potential ecological risk index
