Abstract:Atmospheric nitric acid (HNO3) is the main sink of nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted into the air.It plays an important role in the acidification of precipitation,the formation of nitrates in the secondary fine particles,and the atmospheric compound pollution process of photochemical pollution and haze formation.It is very necessary and urgent to obtain high time-resolution and accurate atmospheric nitric acid measurement data to study and understand the circulation mechanism of nitrogen oxides in the atmosphere.Due to its low concentration in the atmosphere,its strong adsorption on surfaces,and being highly influenced by the thermal equilibrium process of ammonium nitrate present in particulate matter,the accurate and high-time resolution nitric acid measurement has always been a challenge for modern atmospheric measurement technology.This study reviews the factors influencing the accuracy of nitric acid measurement,the advantages and disadvantages of different HNO3 measurement methods,and their application prospects.Under the quickly development and with the advantages in detection limit and measurement stability of laser measurement technique on NO2,the method of quickly converting HNO3 to NO2 for indirect measurement of HNO3 has received more more attention by many researchers.
