Abstract:It has been proved that microplastic pollution widely covers the surface water,deep water,and sediments in the marine and freshwater environments globally.It is very important to separate the microplastics from the sediments because the sand and other impurities will seriously affect the experimental analysis.At present,there is no unified system procedure and testing standard for separation methods of microplastics in China.In this paper,sediment samples were collected at four sampling points in Chengdu section of Minjiang River.Through the comparison of the three separation methods based on density separation,it was found that among the three methods of direct flotation method,volumetric flask flotation method and centrifugal method,the manual operations were less in centrifugal method because the centrifuge and other precision instruments were used.By using this method,the solution and sediments can be fully mixed and centrifuged,and the separation efficiency and accuracy were higher.This paper provides support for the selection of separation methods for microplastics in freshwater sediments.
