DANXIA GEOMORPHOLOGIC LANDSCAPE: THREE FAMOUS MOUNTAINS IN NORTHERN GUANGDONG

Danxia Geomorphologic Landscape" was named by senior geologists Feng Jinglan and Chen Guoda in 1928 for its redstone landform. The strata, which contain Danxia landform, are different from north to south. In the eastern it is composed of Cretaceous redstones; while in the southern it develops in EoceneOligocene of lower Tertiary. Among many Danxia landforms three redstone mountains, Danxia Mountain, Shaoshi Mountain and Jinji Range, are rated as the typical of all for their grotseque stones, steep cliffs, perilous peaks and secluded hills. Therefore Danxia geomorphologic landscape is characterized by red cliffs, caves, ridges and peaks, deep and secluded valleys and natural bridges. It is worth seeing.
