| Abstract: | Biological activated carbon （BAC） technology applies granular activated carbon as filler in micro-polluted source water and wastewater treatment. The mechanism of BAC is to use the adsorption of activated carbon and the degradation of micro-organisms inside activated carbon layer, through the biofilm degradation of a part of pollutant which adsorbed by biofilm, and regeneration of activated carbon, which effectively extends the life time of active carbon. The paper summarizes the application of BAC in water treatment, wastewater treatment and wastewater reclamation. And it further elaborates the pollutants removal mechanism of BAC. |
