Polyacrylamide (PAM) use in irrigation for erosion control has increased water infiltration and reduced soil erosion. This has improved runoff water quality via lower concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorous, and pesticides, and decreased biological oxygen demand. Since non-toxic high molecular weight anionic PAMs removed clay size sediment particles in flowing water, we hypothesized that PAM would effectively remove or immobilize microorganisms in flowing water. In an agricultural field, we determined the efficacy of PAM-treatment of furrow irrigation water to remove several categories of microorganisms in the inflow and runoff. Treatments were: (1) PAM application and a control; (2) three flow rates; (3) two distances from the inflow point; and (4) three times during each irrigation. After water traveled 1 m at 7.5 and 15.5 l min(-1), PAM-treatment reduced total bacterial and microbial biomass and total fungal biomass relative to the control treatment. After water traveled 40 m at 7.5, 15.5, and 22.5 l min(-1), PAM-treatment reduced algae, the numbers active and total bacteria, active and total fungal length, and total bacterial biomass, total fungal and microbial biomass relative to the control treatment. Although specific organisms were not identified or monitored in this study, the results clearly have implications for controlling the spread of soil-borne plant pathogens and other classes of harmful organisms within and among fields via irrigation water and in re-utilized return flows. Beyond furrow-irrigated agriculture, new methods to manage overland transmission of harmful microorganisms could potentially help control transport of pathogens from animal waste in runoff and groundwater. 相似文献

Dimethazone, also known as clomazone [2-[(2-chlorophenyl) methyl]- 4,4-dimethyl-3-isoxaolidinone] is a pre-emergent nonionic herbicide commonly used in agriculture. A field study was conducted on a silty-loam soil of 10 % slope to monitor off-site movement and persistence of dimethazone in soil under three management practices. Eighteen plots of 22 x 3.7 m each were separated using stainless steel metal borders and the soil in six plots was mixed with municipal sewage sludge (MSS) and yard waste (YW) compost (MSS+YW) at 15 t acre?1 on dry weight basis, six plots were mixed with MSS at 15 t acre?1, and six unamended plots (NM) were used for comparison purposes. The objectives of this investigation were to: (i) monitor the dissipation and half-life (T?/?) of dimethazone in soil under three management practices; (ii) determine the concentration of dimethazone residues in runoff and infiltration water following natural rainfall events; and (iii) assess the impact of soil amendments on the transport of NO?, NH?, and P into surface and subsurface water. Gas chromatography/mass spectrometery (GC/MS) analyses of soil extracts indicated the presence of ion fragments at m/z 125 and 204 that can be used for identification of dimethazone residues. Intitial deposits of dimethazone varied from 1.3 μg g?1 dry native soil to 3.2 and 11.8 μg g?1 dry soil in MSS and MSS+YW amended soil, respectively. Decline of dimethazone residues in the top 15 cm native soil and soil incorporated with amendments revealed half-life (T?/?) values of 18.8, 25.1, and 43.0 days in MSS+YW, MSS, and NM treatments, respectively. Addition of MSS+YW mix and MSS alone to native soil increased water infiltration, lowering surface runoff water volume and dimethazone residues in runoff following natural rainfall events. 相似文献

绿色屋顶作为海绵城市建设中的重要措施之一,具有良好的环境生态效益。对搭建的5种简单式绿色屋顶装置和混凝土屋面装置进行了天然降雨实测和模拟降雨实验监测比较,分析了各装置出流中总有机碳(TOC)、TN、氨氮、TP和Zn的浓度及负荷,研究了简单式绿色屋顶对屋面雨水径流水质的影响规律。结果表明,简单式绿色屋顶出流中的TOC、TN、氨氮、TP和Zn浓度比混凝土屋面高;简单式绿色屋顶具有径流量截留能力,能够削减部分TN和氨氮负荷,但TOC、TP和Zn浓度较高,导致其污染负荷仍然比混凝土屋面高。种植基质对雨水径流TOC、TN和氨氮浓度有显著影响,对TP和Zn浓度无显著影响;植被对各项污染物浓度均无显著影响;降雨特征对污染物浓度有显著影响。 相似文献

为探明西安金盆水库热分层演变特征和降雨径流对水库水质的影响,对水库垂向不同点位的水温、溶解氧、浊度、pH、总磷、总氮、氨氮、总有机碳等水质指标进行了持续监测和分析,结果表明:RWCS/H指数能有效判断热分层稳定水平,稳定分层期RWCS/H指数在1.56~6.99 m-1之间;RWCS/H指数与TP、厌氧层厚度显著相关,温跃层的变化特征对厌氧层变化起支配作用,分层期水库底部厌氧条件致使沉积物中营养盐大量释放,其中滞水层TP最高达0.062 mg·L-1;汛期暴雨径流一方面破坏水体热分层稳定性,另一方面携带大量颗粒态污染物以间层流的形式潜入水库中下层水体,使污染负荷提高,TP、TN、NH4+-N、TOC浓度分别达到0.052、1.589、0.42和3.784 mg·L-1;随暴雨径流潜入带来的大量颗粒态污染物和下层水温、pH上升导致沉积物厌氧释放加剧,雨后下层水体TP、TN、NH4+-N、TOC浓度分别达0.022、1.474、0.595和4.559 mg·L-1,显著高于上层水体。分层期内源释放是加快金盆水库富营养化过程的关键因素,汛期暴雨径流引发的水库水环境系统改变使得水质突发性污染风险加大。 相似文献

采用改进的Tessier方法对土壤Cu形态进行分级,研究了添加生物质炭对土壤重金属Cu形态、生物有效性和小麦生长及生理指标的影响。结果表明,石灰性土壤中Cu主要以碳酸盐结合态、氧化态和残渣态形式存在,三者占土壤Cu的90%以上。添加生物质炭后,土壤中的碳酸盐结合态铜、氧化态铜含量有所减少,但不显著;有机物结合态铜含量增加了131.25%,达到极显著水平,其中主要增加了紧有机结合态。添加生物质炭在培养一定时间后(30 d后)土壤有效态铜含量降低,120天时最大降低幅度达50.66%,添加生物质炭提高了冬小麦的根系重、茎秆干重、籽粒干重和灌浆期旗叶叶绿素含量,降低了根系、茎秆和籽粒的含铜量以及超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)活性,并随着生物质炭施用量的增加有显著性差异。综合看来,生物质炭对土壤铜污染具有钝化作用。 相似文献

The retention and behavior of two herbicides, metribuzin [4-amino-6- tert-butyl-4, 5-dihydro-3-methylthio-1, 2, 4-triazin-5-one] and DCPA [1, 4-Benzenedicarboxylic acid, 2, 3, 5, 6-tetrachloro-, dimethyl] ester, in runoff and seepage water from agricultural fields were investigated. The objectives of this investigation were to: (i) determine the dissipation and half-life ( T 1/2) of metribuzin and DCPA herbicides in soil under three management practices: chicken manure (CM), sewage sludge (SS), and no-mulch native soil (NM); (ii) monitor herbicides residues in runoff and infiltration water following addition of soil amendments; and (iii) determine the impact of soil amendments on the transport of NO 3, NH 4, and PO 4 from soil into surface and subsurface water. Half-life ( T 1/2) values of metribuzin were 24, 18, and 12 d in CM, SS, and NM treatments, respectively. Similarly, T 1/2 values of DCPA were greater in CM and SS incorporated soil (45.8 and 52.2 d, respectively) compared to NM native soil (26.2 d). Addition of CM and SS to native agricultural soil increased water infiltration, lowering runoff water volume and herbicide residues in runoff following natural rainfall events. We concluded that soil amendments could be used to intercept pesticide-contaminated runoff from agricultural fields. This practice might provide a potential solution to pesticide contamination of surface and seepage water from farmlands. 相似文献

This study was carried out during two consecutive seasons, 2020 and 2021, on 12-year-old mango (Mangifera indica L.). cv. Ewaise grown in region Idku, El Beheira Governorate, Egypt. The trees were planted at 5?×?4 m apart and grafted on “Sokary” root stock to study the influence of zeolite and biochar on growth, yield, and fruit quality of “Ewaise” mango cultivar irrigated by agricultural drainage water. The trees were treated by the following treatments: zeolite or biochar solely at 1, 2, and 3 kg for tree and their different combinations such as 1 kg zeolite?+?1 kg biochar; 1 kg zeolite?+?2 kg biochar; 1 kg zeolite?+?3 kg biochar; 2 kg zeolite?+?1 kg biochar; 2 kg zeolite?+?2 kg biochar; 2 kg zeolite?+?3 kg biochar; 3 kg zeolite?+?1 kg biochar; 3 kg zeolite?+?2 kg biochar; and 3 kg zeolite?+?3 kg biochar as well as control zero soil application. The obtained results showed that the soil application of zeolite or biochar gave a positive effect on improving the soil characteristics which reflects on the tree trunk thickness, shoot length and thickness, number of inflorescences, yield in kg per tree, and fruit quality. The greatest positive effect on the previous mentioned parameters was obtained by the combined application of the soil application of 2 kg zeolite?+?3 kg biochar; 2 kg zeolite?+?2 kg biochar; 3 kg zeolite?+?2 kg biochar; and 3 kg zeolite?+?3 kg biochar over the rest-applied treatments or control in the two seasons. 相似文献

为探讨土壤淋洗与生物质炭稳定化联合修复技术对镉(Cd)污染黄棕壤修复效果的影响,研究通过振荡淋洗实验、BCR 连续化学提取法和CaCl2 一次提取法,筛选确定污染土壤的最佳淋洗方案,并比较了淋洗修复、淋洗 + 稳定化修复技术对污染土壤中Cd生物有效性的影响。结果表明:3种淋洗剂的淋洗效率强弱顺序为EDTA-2Na>HCl> 柠檬酸,最佳淋洗条件为0.12 mol·L-1 EDTA-2Na在固-液比1:4条件下振荡淋洗3h,Cd的洗脱率为81.3%;淋洗后土壤中Cd的有效态(F1+F2)百分比减少了51.0%,显著降低了污染土壤的重金属总量及其环境风险;相比于单一淋洗修复技术,EDTA-2Na在添加体积(V添加)为最佳淋洗体积(V最优)的80%时,淋洗后再加入3%玉米秸秆炭稳定化15 d的联合修复技术能够将土壤中有效态Cd含量(CaCl2-Cd)从8.13 mg·kg-1降低到0.42 mg·kg-1。因此,淋洗修复后施加玉米秸秆炭的联合修复技术,能够有效降低重金属污染土壤的生态环境风险,提高土壤环境质量。 相似文献

Waste streams associated with a variety of agricultural runoff sources are major contributors of nutrients, pesticides and enteric microorganisms to surface and ground waters. Water soluble anionic polyacrylamide (PAM) was found to be a highly effective erosion-preventing and infiltration-enhancing polymer, when applied at rates of 1-10 g m(-3) in furrow irrigation water. Water flowing from PAM treated irrigation furrows show large reductions in sediment, nutrients and pesticides. Recently PAM and PAM + CaO and PAM + Al(SO4)3 mixtures have been shown to filter bacteria, fungi and nutrients from animal wastewater. Low concentrations of PAM [175-350 g PAM ha(-1) as PAM or as PAM + CaO and PAM + Al(SO4) mixture] applied to the soil surface, resulted in dramatic decreases (10 fold) of total, coliform and fecal streptococci bacteria in cattle, fish and swine wastewater leachate and surface runoff. PAM treatment also filtered significant amounts of NH4, PO4 and total P in cattle and swine wastewater. This points to the potential of developing PAM as a water quality protection measure in combination with large-scale animal feeding operations. Potential benefits of PAM treatment of animal facility waste streams include: (1) low cost, (2) easy and quick application. (3) suitability for use with other pollution reduction techniques. Research on the efficacy of PAM for removal of protozoan parasites and viruses and more thorough assessment of PAM degradation in different soils is still needed to completely evaluate PAM treatment as an effective waste water treatment. We will present analysis and feasibility of using PAM, PAM + Al(SO4)3, and PAM + CaO application for specific applications. Our results demonstrate their potential efficacy in reducing sediment, nutrients and microorganisms from animal production facility effluents. 相似文献

Eighteen plots of 22 × 3.7 m each were separated using metal borders and the soil in six plots was mixed with sewage sludge and yard waste compost mix (SS-YW) at 15 t acre ?1, six plots were mixed with sewage sludge (SS) at 15 t acre ?1, and six unamended plots that never received sludge were used for comparison purposes. Plots were planted with eggplant, Solanum melongena L. as the test plant. The objectives of this investigation were to: 1) assess the effect of soil amendments on the transport of NO 3, NH 4, and heavy metals (Cd, Cr, Ni, Pb, Zn, Cu, and Mo) into surface water; 2) investigate the effect of soil amendments on heavy metal bioavailability in eggplant fruits at harvest; and 3) assess chemical and physical properties of soil following addition of soil amendments and their impact on the yield and quality of eggplant fruit. SS-YW treatments reduced runoff water by 63% while plots incorporated with sewage sludge alone reduced runoff water by 37% compared to control treatment. The SS-YW treatments transported more mineral nitrogen (NO 3-N and NH 4-N) in runoff water than SS treatments. Total marketable yield (lbs acre ?1) and number of eggplant fruits were greatest in SS-YW treatments. This response may be due to improved soil porosity, water, and nutrient retention of the soil amended with SS-YW mixture. Concentrations of heavy metals in soil amended with sludge were below the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) limits. Chromium, Ni, Zn, and Cu were taken up by eggplant fruits but their concentrations were below the Codex Commission allowable levels. 相似文献

The soils at a depleted copper mine in Touro (Galicia, Spain) are chemically degraded. In order to determine the effect of amendments and vegetation on the chemical characteristics of a mine soil and on the plant uptake of metals, a greenhouse experiment was carried out for 3 months. A settling pond soil was amended with different percentages of a compost and biochar mixture and vegetated with Brassica juncea L. The results showed that the untreated settling pond soil was polluted by Cu. Amendments and planting mustards decreased the pseudototal concentration of this metal, reduced the extreme soil acidity and increased the soil concentrations of C and TN. Both treatments also decreased the CaCl 2-extractable Co, Cu and Ni concentrations. However, the amendments increased the pseudototal concentration of Zn in the soil, provided by the compost that was used. The results also showed that mustards extracted Ni efficiently from soils, suggesting that B. juncea L. is a good phytoextractor of Ni in mine soils. 相似文献

Drained peatlands are an important source of forest biomass in boreal regions and ditch network maintenance (DNM) operations may be needed to restore the drainage functions of ditches. By reviewing the available literature, as well as utilizing an existing hydrological model and analyzing the characteristics of eroded sediments, we assessed the impacts of DNM on runoff and exports of suspended solids (SS), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P). In general, DNM had minor impact on runoff and dissolved N and P, and it decreased rather than increased DOC exports. To increase the understanding of the hydrochemical impacts of DNM, future research should focus on the characteristics of SS and particulate nutrient exports. A major gap in knowledge is also the very limited regional representativeness of the available studies. High erosion risk in the ditches reaching the mineral soil below peat should be acknowledged when planning mitigation measures. 相似文献

The effects of manure-application mode, rate to soil, and rainfall characteristics on the quality of agricultural runoff water have been assessed by means of the algal-growth-potential test (AGPT) and chemical analyses. This study used two modes of manure application (i.e. surface mode and incorporation mode), three manure-application rates (0, 150, 300 kg N ha(-1)), and two rainfall intensities and times (i.e. 11 mm h(-1) for 142 min and 22 mm h(-1) for 71 min). The effects of the dilution of runoff water on algal growth were also examined. The algal yields obtained with runoff from soil with the incorporated manure mode are similar to those from soil without manure application and are lower than those with the surface mode of manure application. A higher manure-application rate increases the load of nutrients in the runoff and subsequently the algal yield. The dilution of runoff water can stimulate or limit the algal growth, depending on the concentration of toxicants, N (nitrogen) and P (phosphorus) from runoff and in the aquatic diluting medium. A lower rainfall intensity plus a longer rainfall time increases algal productivity. This study showed that N is the limiting factor to algal growth at low dilution but that, at high dilution or with the incorporation mode of manure application, P becomes the limiting factor to algal growth. 相似文献

为了解生物炭应用于邻苯二甲酸酯污染土壤修复的可行性,选择邻苯二甲酸二甲酯作为目标污染物,以花生壳为原料制备生物炭,通过室内模拟试验研究生物炭对邻苯二甲酸二甲酯在土壤中自然降解和吸附行为的影响。结果表明,未添加与添加生物炭土壤中邻苯二甲酸二甲酯的自然降解过程均遵循一级动力学方程,生物炭含量0.5%和1.0%的土壤中邻苯二甲酸二甲酯的半衰期分别延长2.185 d和4.151 d,表明添加生物炭会不同程度地延缓土壤中邻苯二甲酸二甲酯的自然降解;在不同的生物炭含量水平下,土壤对邻苯二甲酸二甲酯的吸附均能很好地符合Freundlich方程所描述的规律,生物炭含量0.1%、0.5%和1.0%土壤的吸附常数Kf分别为35.647、45.830和57.649,显著高于对照土壤(7.793),表明土壤对邻苯二甲酸二甲酯的吸附作用随生物炭含量增加而显著增强。 相似文献
