Samples from two Dutch raw water sources were chlorinated in the laboratory at different pH:s and chlorine doses, and were analysed for mutagenic activity and the mutagenic compound 3-chloro-4-(dichloromethyl)-5-hydroxy-2(5H)-furanone (MX). Chlorination produced mutagenic activity as well as MX in both waters. The formation of MX was favoured by acidic reaction conditions and high chlorine doses, but in waters treated with excess chlorine at pH 9, no MX was detected. The mutagenicity was approximately on the same level after chlorination of both water types but the MX concentration was significantly higher in the water containing mainly humic material.

MX was found to be quantitatively extracted from acidified waters by the XAD resin adsorption technique.  相似文献

A series of 2-alkyl-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-ones (4a-l) was easily synthesized by two-step process involving O-alkylation of 2-nitrophenols with methyl 2-bromoalkanoates and next “green” catalytic reductive cyclization of the obtained 2-nitro ester intermediates (3a-l). Further, 6,7-dibromo (5a-c) and N-acetyl (6) derivatives were prepared by bromination and acetylation of unsubstituted 2-alkyl-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-ones (4a-c). The novel compounds (3a-l, 4d-l, 5a-c and 6) were fully characterized by spectroscopic methods (MS, 1H and 13C NMR). 2-Alkyl-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-ones (4a-l, 5a-c and 6) were screened for antifungal activity. Preliminary assays were performed using two methods: in vitro against seven phytopathogenic fungi—Botrytis cinerea, Phythophtora cactorum, Rhizoctonia solani, Phoma betae, Fusarium culmorum, Fusarium oxysporum and Alternaria alternata—and in vivo against barley powdery mildew Blumeria graminis. The tested compounds displayed moderate to good antifungal activity at high concentration (200 mg L?1). The most potent compounds were 2-ethyl-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one (4a), 2-ethyl-7-fluoro-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one (4g) and 4-acetyl-2-ethyl-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one (6), which completely inhibited the mycelial growth of seven agricultural fungi at the concentration of 200 mg L?1 in the in vitro tests. Moreover, 2-ethyl-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one (4a) and 4-acetyl-2-ethyl-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one (6) were also screened for antifungal activity at concentrations of 100 mg L?1 and 20 mg L?1. In the concentration of 100 mg L?1, the N-acetyl derivative (6) completely inhibited the growth of three strains of fungi (F. culmorum, P. cactorum and R. solani), while 2-ethyl-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one (4a) completely inhibited only R. solani strain. At the concentration of 20 mg L?1, compound 6 showed good activity only against P. cactorum strain (72%).  相似文献

Crop losses due to bacterial pathogens are a major global concern. Most of the available pesticides for these pathogens suffer from various drawbacks such as complicated synthesis, high cost, high toxicity, pesticide resistance and environmental hazards. To overcome these drawbacks, the present study was undertaken to find a potent bactericide. Therefore, a series of compounds comprising bioactive furyl and oxazolone rings was synthesized under microwave irradiation and screened for in vitro antibacterial activity. The reactions were completed in fewer than 2 minutes with minimal use of solvents and resulted in high yields. These compounds were screened for antibacterial activity against plant pathogens, Xanthomonas oryzae, Ralstonia solanacearum and nitrifying bacteria, Nitrosomonas species under laboratory conditions. Five compounds were active as antibacterial agents against Xanthomonas oryzae and Ralstonia solanacearum. However, all compounds were effective against the Nitrosomonas species and the best one was 2-furyl-4-(3-methoxy-4-hydroxybenzylidene)-5(4H)-oxazolone. The study revealed the fast and environmentally friendly synthesis of bioactive title compounds, which also hold promise to be used as prototypes for the discovery of potent analogues.  相似文献

Green rust (Fe(4)(II)Fe(2)(III)(OH)(12)SO(4).3H(2)O) is an intermediate phase in the formation of iron (oxyhydr)oxides such as goethite, lepidocrocite, and magnetite. It is widely considered that green rust occurs in many soil and sediment systems. Green rust has been shown to reduce sorbed Se(VI), Cr(VI), and U(VI). In addition, it is also reported that green rust does not reduce As(V) to As(III). In this study, we have investigated for the first time the interaction between Sb(V) and green rust using XAFS and HPLC-ICP-MS. Most of the added Sb(V) was adsorbed on green rust, and Sb(III), a reduced form, was observed in both solid and liquid phases. Thus, it was shown that green rust has high affinity for Sb(V), and that Sb(V) was reduced to more toxic Sb(III) by green rust despite the high stability of the Sb(V) species even under reducing condition as reported in previous studies. Therefore, green rust can be one of the most important reducing agents for Sb(V), which can influence the Sb mobility in suboxic environments where green rust is formed.  相似文献

O,O,O-triethyl phosphorothioate ((C2H5O)3PS, TEPT) is a widely used organophosphorus insecticide. TEPT may be released into the atmosphere where it can undergo transport and chemical transformations, which include reactions with OH radicals, NO3 radicals and O3. The mechanism of the atmospheric reactions of TEPT has not been fully understood due to the short-lifetime of its oxidized radical intermediates, and the extreme difficulty in detection of these species experimentally. In this work, we carried out molecular orbital theory calculations for the OH radical-initiated atmospheric photooxidation of TEPT. The profile of the potential energy surface was constructed, and the possible channels involved in the reaction are discussed. The theoretical study shows that OH addition to the PS bond and H abstractions from the CH3CH2O moiety are energetically favorable reaction pathways. The dominant products TEP and SO2 arise from the secondary reactions, the reactions of OH-TEPT adducts with O2. The experimentally uncertain dominant product with molecular weight 170 is mostly due to (C2H5O)2P(S)OH and not (C2H5O)2P(O)SH.  相似文献

Vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) photolysis is one of the straightforward alternatives method among the advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) for the elimination of pollutants from water and air. The VUV photolysis of water produces hydroxyl radicals and hydrogen atoms, which have widely different oxidation and reduction abilities. In this work the oxidation and reduction properties of VUV-irradiated solutions were compared by investigating the reduction of [Fe(CN)6]3- and the oxidation of [Fe(CN)6]4-. The rate of oxidation of [Fe(CN)6]3- was found to be practically the same as the reduction rate of [Fe(CN)6]4- in the irradiated oxygen-free solutions under identical conditions. Dissolved oxygen strongly influences the redox properties of this system.  相似文献

Due to its relatively low solubility, mimetite Pb5(AsO4)3Cl may control Pb and As(V) solution levels at a low value in contaminated soils. The time-dependent dissolution of mimetite by low-molecular-weight organic acids (LMWOAs) such as acetic, lactic, citric, and ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) was determined. At pH 3.5, the presence of citric acid or EDTA significantly increases the solubility of mimetite while acetic or lactic acids show little effect. The effect of all organic anions on the dissolution of mimetite increased with the increase in solution pH. The rate of mimetite dissolution depended on the kind and concentration of organic solvents in the sequence rEDTA > rlactate > racetate > rcitrate. Soluble Pb and As(V) released in LMWOAs and EDTA were higher than the WHO guideline value for these elements in drinking water (10 μg As(V) L−1, 10 μg Pb L−1). This suggests that soil organic acids in rhizosphere can potentially liberate Pb and As(V) from mimetite in contaminated soils.  相似文献

Static bioassays of 96 h duration were conducted in the laboratory using fry of common carp (Cyprinus carpio), adult tubificid worm (Branchiura sowerbyi) and adult copepod plankton (Cyclops viridis) to determine LC50 values of Cu and CaO to these organisms and effects of interaction between Cu and CaO. Ninety-six hour LC(50) values of Cu to fry of common carp, worm and copepod were found to be 1.40 mgl(-1), 0.08 mgl(-1) and 0.03 mgl(-1) respectively. CaO up to 500 mgl(-1) did not produce any mortality of the fry of common carp up to 96 h. But 96 h LC50 values of CaO to worm and copepod were 83.00 mgl(-1) and 27.80 mgl(-1) respectively. When common carp fry, worm and the copepod were exposed to respective LC50 dose of Cu in presence of varying concentration of CaO, mortality of the organisms significantly reduced and was found inversely correlated with the doses of CaO [y = 48.36-0.807x, r = -0.99 (n = 7) for fish; y = 44.46-0.146x, r = -0.97 (n = 7) for worm; y = 49.46-0.66x, r = -0.99 (n = 7) for the copepod]. The present results indicate that CaO is non-toxic to fish and is capable of reducing the toxicity of Cu to fish while CaO and Cu are antagonistic to each other for the worm and the copepod. Potential of using CaO as antitoxic agent for Cu in water is discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, we addressed the utilization of photochemical method as an innovative technology for the destruction and removal of two potent greenhouse gases, SF(6) and SF(5)CF(3). The destruction and removal efficiency (DRE) of the process was determined as a function of excitation wavelength, irradiation time, initial ratio of acetone to SF(5)X (X represented F or CF(3)), initial SF(5)X concentration, additive oxygen and water vapor concentration. A complete removal was achieved by a radiation period of 55min and 120min for SF(6)-CH(3)COCH(3) system and SF(5)CF(3)-CH(3)COCH(3) system respectively under 184.9nm irradiation. Extra addition of water vapor can enhance DRE by approximately 6% points in both systems. Further studies with GC/MS and FT-IR proved that no hazardous products such as S(2)F(10), SO(2)F(2), SOF(2), SOF(4) were generated in this process.  相似文献

The crystal structure of a "coplanar" polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) derivative, 4-methoxy-3, 3', 5'-trichlorobiphenyl (C13H9Cl3O), is described. Metal binding is an important function of humic acids (HAs) in soils, sediments and waters. At pH 2.0, Mn(II) and Co(NH3)6aq3+ bind tightly in one step labeled A to a solid humic acid NHA isolated from a New Hampshire soil. Two consecutive steps are observed for Hg(II) binding. All the binding isotherms fit the Langmuir model in the temperature range 10.0-50.0 degrees C. Stoichiometric site capacities indicate predominant binding by charge-neutralizing HA carboxylate groups for Mn(II) and the second step A of Hg(II) binding. The binding affinity order in step A is Co(NH3)(6)3+>Hg(II)>Mn(II). Metal binding enthalpy and entropy changes fit the linear correlation found previously for binding of other metal cations by solid HAs. Free energy buffering from cooperative enthalpy and entropy changes and lower enthalpies for metal-HA interactions in solution suggest that desolvation of the cations and HA binding sites as well as HA conformational changes to allow for inner-sphere complexation predominate metal binding by hydrated solid HAs.  相似文献

通过在不同pH值,温度等条件下Ca5(AsO4)3OH的溶解,确定其稳定存在的pH值范围,得出它的溶度积和生成的自由能(ΔG0f)。结果表明,Ca5(AsO4)3OH在水中的溶解度和稳定范围与pH和温度有关,在酸性条件下(初始pH=2)它的溶解度较大,而且在水中的溶解度随着温度的升高而降低。利用PHREEQC程序计算确定Ca5(AsO4)3OH的溶度积为10-40.86,生成自由能ΔG0f为-5 063.53 kJ/mol。利用JADE5软件计算得到其晶格参数a=b=9.696,c=6.967和晶胞体积为567.304 3。  相似文献

等离子体法脱硝被认为是一种非常环保有效的脱硝技术,为了探究等离子体对NOx的作用过程,选用AC/DC流光放电等离子体及模拟烟气,考察了烟气流量和NO初始浓度、添加剂的种类与含量以及SO2对等离子体脱硝的影响。结果表明:NO的脱除过程由氧化过程和还原过程同时作用,在同一功率下,NOx脱除率随流量的增加而降低,NO初始浓度对NOx脱除率无直接影响。氨的添加可以促进NOx的还原脱除,乙烯的添加可以促进NO氧化转化为NO2。烟气中SO2存在会导致NOx脱除效率降低,此时氨助剂的加入可以显著提高NOx脱除率。当NH3:SO2=2:1时,在15 W下SO2脱除率可达100%,NOx脱除率60%。  相似文献
