This is a case study of contamination by a non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) that leaked from a chemical plant. The remediation procedure adopted for the initial phase of the plume migration was a plastic diaphragm wall coupled with a series of water extraction wells designed to avoid environmental impact on the surrounding ecosystems. Monitoring has shown that the containment is successful, and additional measures that contribute to accelerating remediation have been adopted. The authors wished to investigate how remediation might be further enhanced. The use of in situ aeration coupled with a system of soil vapor extraction (AS/SVE) has been chosen, since the remediation of sites with characteristics similar to those in this study, if based exclusively on dissolved-phase control, would take several decades to be completed. The transport of contaminant plumes has been simulated by using an analytical model to evaluate the effectiveness of the natural attenuation of the contaminant. The results of the simulation have confirmed the limited effectiveness of the natural attenuation of the contaminant, as well as the effective increase of remediation that would occur if the AS/SVE system is applied. A sensitivity analysis that included several combinations of increments of parameters that correspond to the decay rate of the source and the dissolved plume has simulated what might happen if the AS/SVE system is implemented.  相似文献

为探索木材在热流变化时的着火特点并提出着火判据,通过试验研究了木材在线性增长热流条件下的自发着火性能,测定了泡桐、椿木、榆木和刺槐4种木材的点燃时间、木材表面的入射热流以及试样内部的温度.结果表明.当热流增长率大于等于0.199kw/(m~2·s)时,试验的所有木材均可以被点燃,点燃这些木材的临界热流增长率介于0.065~0.103 kw/(m~2·s).建立了木材着火的计算模型,计算得出木材自发着火时的表面温度约为500℃.根据试验和计算的结果提出了-结合表面温度和临界热流增长率的木材自发着火复合判据.  相似文献

Pressure piling presents a major explosion hazard in interconnected process vessels. Pressure enhancement in the secondary vessel due to the acceleration of the flame through the connecting pipe can generate a disproportionately more violent explosion than would have been expected based on the concentration of dust in the secondary vessel. Pressure piling is a very complex phenomenon that is difficult to investigate through experimentation. Advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling is a promising route to accurately account for all the complexities associated with pressure piling.In this paper, the current state of knowledge concerning pressure piling is presented. Further, the effects of varying the length-to-diameter ratio (L/D) of the primary vessel (Vessel 1) on pressure piling was investigated using numerical modelling. The volumes and volume ratio of the interconnected vessels were kept constant while the L/D of Vessel 1 was varied from 0.5 to 15. The simulations of coal dust explosion were performed using the coalChemistryFoam solver from OpenFOAM version 5.0.1. It is hoped that the findings from this study provide insight into the effects of the geometrical design of interconnected vessels, particularly L/D, on pressure piling. Additionally, this work has implications for the optimal placement of explosion isolation devices intended to actuate before the flame front and pressure escape to downstream vessels.  相似文献

危险化学品源的安全评价是安全生产管理中的一项重要内容.目前用于危险化学品源安全评价与分级的常用方法有后果分析法、道指数法、蒙德指数法以及使用临界系数判别重大危险源的方法等.在实际应用中,单独使用某一方法时,由于存在各种片面性问题而得不到满意的评价结果; 几种方法同时使用时,其评价指标、评价结果以及结果的形式又会互相冲突.为解决上述问题,建立了基于层次分析法的综合评价模型.首先,根据安全评价要求构建3层次的评价体系,在各层次中构造判断矩阵,并计算4种常用方法相对综合评价模型的置信度; 其次,对各方法统一危险分级标准,均采用危险分数划定危险级别,并取各危险分数的加权平均值--综合危险分数作为综合评价模型下的危险源分级标准.采用综合评价模型可消除单一方法进行评价时的片面性和偏差,同时,评价结果的一致化使得判断危险化学品源的危险级别以及由此采取相应级别的管理措施成为可能,将更有利于实际安全生产管理指导.  相似文献

This paper reviews 242 accidents of storage tanks that occurred in industrial facilities over last 40 years. Fishbone Diagram is applied to analyze the causes that lead to accidents. Corrective actions are also provided to help operating engineers handling similar situations in the future. The results show that 74% of accidents occurred in petroleum refineries, oil terminals or storage. Fire and explosion account for 85% of the accidents. There were 80 accidents (33%) caused by lightning and 72 (30%) caused by human errors including poor operations and maintenance. Other causes were equipment failure, sabotage, crack and rupture, leak and line rupture, static electricity, open flames etc. Most of those accidents would have been avoided if good engineering have been practiced.  相似文献

基于相似性原理,在不同坡度(0°、20°、30°、45°)及不同地面粗糙度(木质地面、土质地面)条件下进行了小尺寸的CO2泄漏试验,研究坡度和地面粗糙度对CO2泄漏扩散的影响,为全尺寸现场CO2泄漏试验提供参考。结果表明:坡度的存在对CO2扩散产生了较为明显的影响,坡度越大,斜坡上体积分数梯度越大,坡度小于20°时,对CO2扩散影响几乎无影响,坡度大于30°时,影响开始凸显;与无坡度的平面扩散相比,斜坡下方出现明显的CO2聚集区域,坡度越大,聚集现象越明显,体积分数分布越平均;地面粗糙度的增加使整体CO2体积分数有明显的上升,泄漏口附近(0.25 m)体积分数上升最为明显,整个泄漏场浓度分布更加平均,浓度梯度更小;此外,地面粗糙度的增加一定程度上抑制了泄漏过程的卷吸效应。  相似文献

本文于2002年对重庆市部分区县37个乡镇的菜地蔬菜进行了有针对性地采样、试验和评价以及对比分析。发现重庆蔬菜已经 受到了重金属Cd、Pb和Hg的污染。污染程度排序为近郊区>城郊区>远郊区,Cd污染>Pb污染>Hg污染。与1999年相比,重庆蔬菜 的重金属污染状况总的来说有很大的好转,但是,Cd的污染有加重趋势。  相似文献

Recently, smart seat belt reminders (SBR) have been introduced in cars. By increasingly reminding drivers and passengers if they are not using the seat belt, the intention is to increase the belt use to almost 100%. OBJECTIVE: The objective was to study if there were differences in driver's seat belt use between cars with and without SBR. METHODS: Drivers of cars with and without SBR were observed concerning seat belt use. The case (cars with SBR) and the control group (cars without SBR) were similar in all major aspects except SBR. In all, more than 3,000 drivers were observed in five cities in Sweden. RESULTS: In cars without SBR, 82.3 percent of the drivers used the seat belt, while in cars with SBR, the seat belt use was 98.9 percent. The difference was significant. In cars with mild reminders, the use was 93.0 percent. CONCLUSION: It is concluded, that if the results can be generalised to the whole car population this would have a dramatic impact on the number of fatally and seriously injured car occupants.  相似文献

In this study, performances of Iranian thermal power plants have been assessed with respect to human factors such as job stress, satisfaction and security through data envelopment analysis (DEA). In the first step performance of power plants (DMUs) have been evaluated considering traditional production factors including installed capacity, internal consumption and fuel consumption as inputs and gross production as output (model 1). In the next step, model 1 is expanded to include three above mentioned human factors (model 2). Power plants have been ranked based on their relative efficiency scores in both models. Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficients between relative efficiency scores and rankings of power plants in two models have been calculated. The results show that efficiency scores and rankings of power plants in two models are quite different indicating that mentioned human factors have direct impact on overall performance of generation companies and that if we were to use just traditional factors it would not reflect the optimum efficiency of the DMUs. Finally, job security has been found as the most effective human factor in Iranian power plants. This is the first study that presents an integrated approach for assessment of electric power plants considering job stress, security and satisfaction. And it is shown that these human factors play important role in overall performance of generation companies.  相似文献

Introduction: In-transport vehicles often leave the travel lane and encroach onto natural objects on the roadsides. These types of crashes are called run-off the road crashes (ROR). Such crashes accounts for a significant proportion of fatalities and severe crashes. Roadside barrier installation would be warranted if they could reduce the severity of these types of crashes. However, roadside barriers still account for a significant proportion of severe crashes in Wyoming. The impact of the crash severity would be higher if barriers are poorly designed, which could result in override or underride barrier crashes. Several studies have been conducted to identify optimum values of barrier height. However, limited studies have investigated the monetary benefit associated with adjusting the barrier heights to the optimal values. In addition, few studies have been conducted to model barrier crash cost. This is because the crash cost is a heavily skewed distribution, and well-known distributions such as linear or poison models are incapable of capturing the distribution. A semi-parametric distribution such as asymmetric Laplace distribution can be used to account for this type of sparse distribution. Method: Interaction between different predictors were considered in the analysis. Also, to account for exposure effects across various barriers, barrier lengths and traffic volumes were incorporated in the models. This study is conducted by using a novel machine-learning-based cost-benefit optimization to provide an efficient guideline for decision makers. This method was used for predicting barrier crash costs without barrier enhancement. Subsequently the benefit was obtained by optimizing traffic barrier height and recalculating the benefit and cost. The trained model was used for crash cost prediction on barriers with and without crashes. Results: The results of optimization clearly demonstrated the benefit of optimizing the heights of road barriers around the state. Practical Applications: The findings can be utilized by the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) to determine the heights of which barriers should be optimized first. Other states can follow the procedure described in this paper to upgrade their roadside barriers.  相似文献

综述了池塘养殖系统磷的收支情况.研究发现,在池塘养殖系统中,磷输出最主要的形式为底泥沉积,养殖池塘中存在着磷的总体利用效率不高,水体中活性磷含量低的问题.而解磷微生物的应用在一定程度上可有效解决上述问题,它们能将植物难以吸收利用的磷转化为可吸收利用的形态.通过阐述解磷微生物的种类、解磷效果及解磷机制,结合养殖池塘的情况,分析了将解磷微生物应用于水产养殖中的可行性,并对今后的研究方向作出了展望.结合我国水产养殖的实际情况,筛选适应池塘养殖环境的高效解磷微生物,并将其应用于池塘养殖中,使池塘沉积物中难溶性磷转化具备相当的可行性.  相似文献

建立了油料储罐油气爆炸模拟实验系统,并在模拟实验的基础上,分析了不同因素对爆炸压力的影响及爆炸产物的分布规律.结果表明,油气浓度、罐内初始温度等对油罐油气混合物爆炸过程有重要影响,且存在临界油气浓度(2.5%)及临界初始温度(306 K),在临界值下,油气爆炸最为剧烈.当油气浓度小于临界浓度时,爆炸产物中CO2浓度高于CO浓度,而大于临界浓度时,爆炸产物中CO2浓度小于CO浓度.本研究可为油料储罐油气爆炸灾害事故的防治及安全规程的制定提供参考.  相似文献

This report presents the results of a study of the effectiveness of license revocation for habitual offenders. Drivers whose licenses were revoked were compared with a similar group of drivers whose licenses were not revoked. All revoked drivers had significantly fewer nonmajor violations than did the control drivers. Revoked drivers who received the revocation notice (47%) also had significantly fewer accidents and major violations. Moreover, revoked drivers demonstrated a significant change in the pattern of violation types after revocation. It was concluded that: (a) revocation seems to be an effective way to deter habitual traffic offenders, because habitual offenders whose licenses are revoked have fewer traffic involvements than would be expected if they were not revoked; (b) license revocation would be more effective if the rate of delivery of the revocation notice was higher; and (c) even though many habitual offenders drive illegally after revocation, there is evidence that improved driving behavior, as well as reduced exposure, contributes to the effectiveness of the program.  相似文献

There have been 50 years of research in walking/working surface slipperiness and coefficient of friction (COF) measurements. Nevertheless, numerous standards address slip/fall accidents only in terms of requiring surfaces to be qualitatively “nonslippery.” The literature useful for establishing quantitative criteria for “slippery” vs. “slip-resistant” have been summarized here. A performance definition for “slippery work surfaces” is proposed. Recommendations applicable to standards-making organizations are made, including changing terms such as “non-slip” to “slip-resistant” and defining “slippery” in terms of quantitative COF values. For persons walking unloaded on level surfaces, a COF standard of 0.5 would be reasonable. Research is recommended to determine if “slip-resistance” requirements and accident prevention could be achieved more easily be controlling the type of shoe, type of task, or amount of surface contaminant rather than controlling only the COF of the basic surface and its coating.  相似文献

以苯酚和多种氯酚(CPs)为代表的酚类是一类重要的有机污染物。针对饮用水突发性酚类污染物控制,考察了粉末活性炭(PAC)吸附工艺对苯酚及CPs的去除效果,并讨论了主要影响因素。结果表明,对CPs和苯酚的吸附反应可在10~60 min、300 min内完成,吸附速率从快到慢依次为TCP、MCP、DCP、PCP和苯酚。由于酚羟基(Ar—OH)电离作用受到影响,在3~11范围内去除率随pH值升高而降低。少量腐殖酸对吸附影响不大,但TOC质量浓度超过10 mg/L时腐殖酸可产生明显竞争吸附作用。热力学拟合表明,吸附反应符合Freundlich和Langmuir吸附等温式,苯酚/CPs在PAC上的吸附过程以物理吸附为主,且为放热反应,较低温度有利于吸附反应的进行。相比于准一级反应和孔内扩散反应,准二级动力学方程可较好地描述吸附过程。将PAC用于中山市某饮用水源的模拟突发性污染应急处理,投加10 mg/L的PAC即可有效去除原水中超过饮用水标准3~5倍的CPs类污染物,同时水处理成本仅有少量增加。  相似文献

掺Fe金红石TiO2的制备及其可见光催化活性的评价研究   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
为提高金红石型TiO2的可见光吸收性能和光催化活性,以FeC2O4为Fe源,用浸渍法制备了掺铁金红石TiO2光催化剂。采用XRD、UV-Vis等手段对催化剂进行表征;以阿特拉津为目标污染物,在Vis/H2O2条件下对其催化活性进行了评估。结果表明,Fe以Fe2O3的形式负载在金红石型TiO2的表面;掺铁后金红石型TiO2显著拓宽了其可见光的吸收范围;煅烧温度为400℃时制得的光催化剂Fe-R-400℃的粒径结构和光催化活性最好。以Fe质量分数为1%的Fe-R-400℃作为光催化剂,控制反应体系的初始pH=3,催化剂投加质量浓度为1 g/L,H2O2初始浓度为1 mmol/L,经可见光照射反应15 min后,对初始质量浓度为10 mg/L的阿特拉津的去除率可达95.7%。催化剂循环试验表明,Fe在金红石TiO2表面负载比较牢固,催化剂具有较好的稳定性和重复使用性能。  相似文献

排烟效率是衡量集中排烟火灾通风方案排烟效果的重要指标。为合理分析排烟效率的变化特性,结合某隧道集中排烟系统设计,借助CFD技术,对设置有排烟道的隧道进行了火灾烟气控制的模拟分析,研究了排烟阀开启个数、开口面积和设置间距对双向排烟和单向排烟两种集中排烟模式下不同排烟阀设置方案中总排烟效率和各个排烟阀的排烟效率的影响。结果表明,集中排烟模式可有效将火灾烟气排出隧道。当排烟阀对称开启时,双向排烟模式下,减少排烟阀开启个数,单个排烟阀的排烟效率升高,但总排烟效率降低;当开口面积较小时,增大面积,总排烟效率升高明显,继续增大开口面积时总排烟效率升高效果减弱;增大间距有利于隧道排烟。单向排烟模式下,当排烟阀开启个数较多或开口面积较大时,距离风机最远的排烟阀排烟效率降低,并出现烟流流出排烟道的现象,排烟阀失效,可考虑在非排烟侧开启少量排烟阀,增大间距,使总排烟效率升高。  相似文献

Researchers have been continuously trying to improve human performance with respect to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and ergonomics (hence HSEE). This study proposes an adaptive neural network (ANN) algorithm for measuring and improving job satisfaction among operators with respect to HSEE in a gas refinery. To achieve the objectives of this study, standard questionnaires with respect to HSEE are completed by operators. The average results for each category of HSEE are used as inputs and job satisfaction is used as output for the ANN algorithm. Moreover, ANN is used to rank operators performance with respect to HSEE and job satisfaction. Finally, Normal probability technique is used to identify outlier operators. Moreover, operators with inadequate job satisfaction with respect to HSEE are identified. This would help managers to see if operators are satisfied with their jobs in the context of HSEE. This is the first study that introduces an integrated ANN algorithm for assessment and improvement of human job satisfaction with respect to HSEE program in complex systems.  相似文献
