The aim of the study was to investigate the antiproliferative properties of extracts of five plants on breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231) and their effects on antioxidant activities. The total phenol contents of the extracts were determined to establish a correlation to their antiproliferative effects which were evaluated by the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide viability assay. Enzymes involved in oxidative stress were also determined. Total polyphenol contents of the five extracts varied from 170 to 440 mg L?1 of gallic acid per mg of extract with the highest value for the extract of Sida cordifolia. Cell growth inhibition was observed within 24 h, with inhibitory concentration values ranging from 7.3 to 25 mg L?1 depending on plant extract. At concentrations between 100 and 200 mg L?1, all the extracts exhibited significant reduction of cell proliferation in time-dependent and linear manner. The activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase of cells treated for 24 h with the extract of S. cordifolia were 3.5 U per mg protein and 8 mole H2O2 consumed per min per mg protein higher than those of cells treated with an extract of Viscum album.  相似文献

酸雨对森林、水体和农田等生态系统造成的危害受到许多研究者的重视,并已取得一些成果,但关于木本园林植物的伤害机理及抗性机制没有得到澄清,尤其是对抗氧化系统的影响研究较少。采用盆栽法,以木兰科(Magnoliaceae)树种抗酸性强的阔瓣含笑(Michelia platypetala)和抗酸性弱的红花木莲(Manglieta insignis)为试材,研究了不同pH值模拟酸雨处理对叶片膜脂过氧化和抗氧化系统的影响。结果表明,随着酸雨pH值的下降,两树种叶片抗氧化剂抗坏血酸(ASA)和谷胱甘肽(GSH)质量分数下降;抗氧化酶超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)及谷胱甘肽还原酶(GR)活性下降,而过氧化物酶(POD)活性变化趋势不一致,阔瓣含笑一直呈上升趋势,红花木莲则先上升后下降。此外,超氧阴离子(O2?·)产生速率上升,丙二醛(MDA)含量和膜透性增加;相关性分析表明,O2?·产生速率与MDA和膜透性呈显著正相关,与抗氧化酶SOD,GR和抗氧化剂ASA质量分数呈显著负相关,说明酸雨降低了植物体防御活性氧伤害有关的酶系统和非酶系统抗性能力,提高了体内活性氧含量,膜脂过氧化加剧。与红花木莲相比,阔瓣含笑具有较强的抗氧化能力。本研究结果从自由基的产生及清除的角度,探讨木本园林植物的伤害机理以及抗性机制,也为该类园林树种在江南城市中的选择提供一些科学参考依据。  相似文献

Variations of antioxidant biomarkers such as catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities and lipid peroxidation (LPO) were studied in edible part of mangrove oyster Saccostrea cucullata, collected from three different water bodies, such as Namkhana (S-I), Frazergaunge (S-II) and Sajnekhali (S-III) of Indian Sundarbans which are exposed to different degrees of anthropogenic activity. The study was conducted for consecutive two years (2010 and 2011) in the respective water bodies. Characteristics of biomarkers in oyster from the two polluted water bodies, i.e. S-I and S-II, are similar in nature in comparison to less polluted site (S-III). The catalase, superoxide dismutase activity and lipid peroxidation in oyster flesh exhibit significant (p<0.01) spatial and temporal variation among the three stations. Oysters from S-I were significantly higher (p<0.05) in antioxidant enzyme activities than oysters from S-III, which differ in their amount of pollution sources. Maximum antioxidant enzymes activity of all collected samples were recorded in pre-monsoon time and decreased in monsoon season. But maximum lipid peroxidation was noted during monsoon followed by post-monsoon and pre-monsoon.  相似文献

The level of accumulation of selected essential and non-essential metals, namely; Ca, Cu, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cd, Pb, and Cr have been investigated in the seeds, fruits, and flowers of some medicinal plants utilized for tapeworm treatment in Ethiopia and their respective soil samples. These include seed of Cucurbita maxima (Duba), fruit of Embelia abyssinica (Ankoko), flowers of Hagenia abyssinica (Kosso), and fruits of Rosa abyssinica (Kega) and their respective soil samples. A wet digestion procedure with a mixture of conc. HNO3 and HClO4 for the plant samples and a mixture of conc. HNO3, HCl, and H2O2 for soil samples were used to solubilize the metals. Ca (1280–12,670?mg?kg?1) was the predominant metal followed by Fe (104–420?mg?kg?1), and Zn (18–185?mg?kg?1) in all the plant materials except for Hagenia abyssinica flower from Hirna in which Mn (16–42?mg?kg?1) followed by Fe. Among the non-essential toxic metals, Pb was not detected in Cucurbita maxima of Boji, Gedo and Hirna origins and in Rosa abyssinica of Hirna site. Similarly, Cr was not detected in Rosa abyssinica fruits of Boji and Gedo sites. The sampled soils were found to be between strongly acidic to weakly basic (pH: 4.7–7.1). In the soil samples, Ca (8528–18,900?mg?kg?1) was the most abundant metal followed by Fe (417–912?mg?kg?1), Zn (155–588?mg?kg?1), Mn (54–220?mg?kg?1), Cr (21–105. mg?kg?1), Cu (11–58?mg?kg?1), Pb (13–32?mg?kg?1) and Cd (2.8–4.8?mg?kg?1). The levels of most of the metals determined in the medicinal plants and the respective soil samples are in good agreement with those reported in the literature and the standards set for the soil by various legislative authorities.  相似文献

A novel hybrid material, Cu-PAA/MWCNTs (copper nanoparticles deposited multiwalled carbon nanotubes with poly (acrylic acid) as dispersant, was prepared and expected to obtain a more effective and well-dispersed disinfection material for water treatment. X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), the X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectra (FT-IR), Raman spectroscopy, and thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA) were used to characterize the Cu-PAA/MWCNTs. Escherichia coli (E. coil) was employed as the target bacteria. The cell viability determination and fluorescence imaging results demonstrated that Cu-PAA/MWCNTs possessed strong antimicrobial ability on E. coil. The deposited Cu was suggested to play an important role in the antimicrobial action of Cu-PAA/MWCNTs.  相似文献

Copper is an essential element to all animals. At elevated concentrations, it is toxic and can participate in the formation of reactive oxygen species, leading to cellular damage. In this study, the ecotoxicological relevance of copper was investigated with freshwater mussels, Anodonta anatina. When the mussels were exposed to copper at environmentally realistic concentrations, either via the water (0.3?µmol?L?1 Cu) or fed with Cu-loaded algae (equivalent to 0.06?µmol?L?1 Cu), the level of thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances rose and glutathione decreased. This was associated with the induction of metallothionein and, relative to total protein, of glutathione reductase and the antioxidative enzymes superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase. But, since the overall protein-synthetic capacity was hampered by the copper insult, the activities of the enzymes relative to tissue weight and copper concentrations were depressed. During depuration, most parameters started to normalize although not returning to control values within 12 days.  相似文献

In this study, we investigated the effects of Matricaria chamomilla L. extract (MCE) on lipid peroxidation, antioxidant enzyme systems, and several liver enzymes in carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-treated rats. Rats were divided into five groups. The first group (control group) was fed on standard feed. The rats in the other groups (CCl4, MCE50, MCE100, and MCE200) were injected intraperitoneally with 0.8?mL?kg?1 CCl4. Moreover, rats in the MCE50, MCE100, and MCE200 groups were gavaged with 50?mg?kg?1, 100?mg?kg?1, and 200?mg?kg?1 MCE, respectively. Serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels, whole blood malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione (GSH) levels, and erythrocyte superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), and catalase (CAT) activity levels were measured after 14 days of exposure. ALT and AST in the CCl4 group increased significantly in comparison to the control group (p?4, MCE50, MCE100, and MCE200 groups at different significance levels. In conclusion, the findings suggest that, depending on the dose administered, MCE decreases CCl4-induced damage and consequent oxidative stress in rats; it affects the antioxidant system positively.  相似文献

为探讨碲化镉量子点(CdTeQDs)对小鼠睾丸的急性氧化损伤作用,将20只雄性ICR小鼠随机分成4组:对照组、1d、3d、7d(3个不同时间组),采用尾静脉注射进行一次性染毒2.5μmol·kg-1CdTeQDs,对照组注射等体积生理盐水.染毒后对睾丸的脏器系数以及组织中超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)、过氧化氢酶(CAT)、谷胱甘肽过氧化物酶(GSH-Px)活性,丙二醛(MDA)含量分别进行测定,从而检测CdTeQDs对睾丸组织的急性氧化损伤作用.结果显示,与对照组相比,随染毒时间的延长,睾丸脏器系数无显著性变化(p>0.05);GSH-Px和SOD活性随染毒时间的延长呈逐渐升高趋势;而CAT活性呈逐渐降低趋势,且与对照组差异显著(p<0.01);MDA含量显著高于对照(p<0.01),且随时间变化不大.CdTeQDs染毒可导致小鼠睾丸组织氧化损伤,其损伤程度与染毒时间之间具有一定的时间-效应关系.  相似文献

镉和铅对菲律宾蛤仔脂质过氧化及抗氧化酶活性的影响   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
为了研究亚致死浓度的重金属对海洋贝类的毒性效应,探讨其可能的作用机理,在实验生态条件下以菲律宾蛤仔(Ru-ditapes philip pinarum)为目标生物,采用半静态毒性实验方法,研究了不同浓度Cd2+(0.0948、0.237和0.474mg·L-1)和Pb2+(0.276、0.690和1.380mg·L-1)对菲律宾蛤仔鳃和消化腺组织中超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)、过氧化氢酶(CAT)活性以及丙二醛(MDA)含量的影响。结果显示:(1)鳃和消化腺中的抗氧化酶及MDA的变化呈现出类似的趋势,在胁迫初期,各浓度处理组菲律宾蛤仔鳃和消化腺组织SOD和CAT与对照组相比活性都显著升高(P<0.01),呈现出明显的诱导效应,而MDA含量与对照组相比差异不显著(P>0.05);随着胁迫时间的延长,高浓度Cd2+(0.474mg·L-1)和Pb2+(1.380mg·L-1)处理组中SOD、CAT活性快速下降,与对照组相比差异显著;低浓度处理组中的抗氧化活性虽然也较对照组有所下降,但总体下降幅度不如高浓度组明显,并且所历暴露时间较长。各浓度处理组中MDA含量变化一致,均呈现出先升高后降低的趋势,且含量均高于对照组。(2)通过相关性分析,菲律宾蛤仔消化腺组织中的SOD活性与Cd2+浓度的相关性大于鳃组织,与Pb2+浓度的相关性则小于鳃组织;消化腺组织中的CAT活性与Cd2+、Pb2+浓度呈抛物线型相关,与鳃组织CAT活性相关性不十分显著。这说明消化腺组织中SOD活性对Cd2+的敏感性大于鳃组织,消化腺组织中CAT活性对Cd2+、Pb2+的敏感性大于鳃组织。因此,菲律宾蛤仔消化腺中SOD、CAT对水环境中的重金属反应敏感,且存在一定的剂量-效应关系,消化腺组织中SOD和CAT活性与其他敏感性指标一起可以作为指示早期海洋重金属污染的生物标志物。  相似文献

Summary Acanthoscelides obtectus (Say) is one of the most damaging pests of kidney beans,Phaseolus vulgaris L. worldwide. However, aromatic plants from the families Lamiaceae, Lauraceae, Myrtaceae and Poaceae can protect kidney beans by direct or delayed insecticidal effect, through increased adult mortality and inhibition of beetle reproduction (both oviposition and adult emergence). The efficiency of hydrodistillated and intact plants fromThymus vulgaris andT. serpyllum, Mentha piperata, Rosmarinus officinalis, Satureia hortensis, Eucalyptus globulus, Laurus nobilis, Origanum vulgare, andCymbopogon nardus was compared. For both extracts,Origanum vulgare had the best effect. The insecticidal effect was induced by more than the essential oils because no significant difference was noticed between distilled and intact plants extract. Inhibition of reproduction was particularly important. These results suggest that lipidic as well as non lipidic, allelochemicals, such as phenolics, or non-protein amino-acids, or flavonoids may be involved in the toxicity of aromatic plants to this beetle.  相似文献

白洋淀芦苇型水陆交错带水化学动态及其净化功能研究   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
于2007年3月-11月对富营养化湖泊一白洋淀进行了现场调查,分析了温度、溶解氧(DO)、叶绿素、总磷(TP)及其他水化学指标的动态变化规律,并讨论了它们之间的相互关系。结果表明:白洋淀芦苇(Phragmites australis var.baiyangdiansis)型水陆交错带对营养物质具有强烈的截留作用,可以达到净化白洋淀水体的效果。从水质指标的空间分布看,污染较重的府河河口区域其水体TP、化学需氧量(CODc,)含量明显高于污染较轻的湖泊中心区域,空间梯度上呈逐步递减趋势。根据水体盐度、总溶解性固体、TP及DO含量进行聚类分析,可以将采样点分为3类:Ⅰ区、污染较重河口区域;Ⅱ区、中间过渡缓冲区域;Ⅲ区、污染较轻中心区域。Ⅰ区其水体DO含量明显低于Ⅲ区,而水体盐度则明显高于Ⅲ区。通过调查发现:在8月份,白洋淀水体DO含量突然增加;相关分析表明:叶绿素含量与DO(P=0.046)及温度(P〈0.01)之间呈显著正相关关系。结合叶绿素等指标的动态变化规律,8月份左右可能是白洋淀藻类爆发的危险时期。  相似文献
