Some results concerning characteristics of airflow within and above a forest are presented: horizontal mean windspeed profiles, turbulence intensities, turbulent transfer coefficients, autocorrelation curves, energy spectra, turbulence scales, microscales.To understand the mechanisms of SO2 diffusion within and above a forest, we have to calculate SO2 fluxes at the top of the canopy and two methods are used for this: the first one uses speed fluctuations and the second one mean speed values.The aim of that work is to determine the behaviour of the forest towards SO2 and to develop a diffusion model of SO2 with associated absorption by the roughness.  相似文献

The atmospheric distribution of sulfate was analyzed at four sites operated by various cooperating laboratories for the period of 18 July–29 August 1977 in the New York metropolitan subregion. The sulfate concentrations measured in NYC were categorized according to wind trajectory and values ≥ 15 μg m−3 were normally associated with a strong westerly component. SO2 −4 values ≤ 5 μg m−3 were associated with other wind trajectories, that had not passed over the Ohio Valley. Comparison of the 1977 study with the New York Summer Aerosol Study (1976) indicated that on the average the SO2 −4 concentrations were slightly lower in 1977. The highest concentrations (> 20 μgm−3) occurred simultaneously with the return flow of ozone-laden high pressure systems.The results of a SO2 −4 episode which affected the region from 3–9 August 1977 were analyzed using trajectory analyses, satellite imagery and measurements of the chemical species H+, NH+4, and SO2 −4. Transport of SO2 −4 was observed and the presence of a strong acid distribution in the rural areas was denonstrated. The aerosol in New York City appeared to be more nearly neutral, probably a result of reaction with ammonia.  相似文献

Data have been collected to indicate the presence of a number of biologically antagonistic air contaminants in ambient air in the immediate vicinity of Chattanooga, Tenn., as a result of the operation of the Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant, Tyner, Tenn. It follows, therefore, from these data that adverse health effects observed in the course of the Chattanooga School Children Study may be accounted for either totally or in part by the presence of epidemiologically interfering compounds such as sulfuric and nitric acid vapors which were not measured in air at the time of the health effects study. It is suggested that the presence of these interferences be considered detrimental to the formulation of a valid air quality standard for nitrogen dioxide.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to describe oxidant production and transport along the western shore of Lake Michigan. Air quality and meteorological data were collected in this area of the midwest during the summers of 1976–1978 using a ground-based laboratory and an Instrumented aircraft. Ozone, oxides of nitrogen, hydrocarbons (both total and individual), halocarbons, and numerous meteorological parameters were monitored continuously at the ground site near Kenosha, WI. Aircraft measurements included ozone, oxides of nitrogen, condensation nuclei, visual range (nephelometer), sulfur dioxide, temperature, and relative humidity.  相似文献
