Although water-soluble synthetic polymers find wide applications as flocculants, the potential problem associated with their use is lack of biodegradability and high cost. Polysaccharides owing to their distinctive features like ability to undergo different chemical reactions, biodegradability and sustainability inspire hope to obtain effective, economical viable and safe substitute of the synthetic flocculants. In this regard, chemical modification of Cassia tora and guar gum was carried out through different substitution and grafting reactions. Polysaccharides were isolated from nopals mucilage pulp and peel of Opuntia Ficus Indica (OFI) and Opuntia litoralis (OL) by aqueous extraction and purified by ultrafiltration. Studying the glycosyl residue composition, these polysaccharides
were assumed to be rhamnogalacturonan I (RG-I). The macromolecular features of these compounds have been characterized by
SEC/MALLS and by low shear viscosimetry. In the present work, we have undertaken a comparative study about different polysaccharides
resulting from OFI and OL growing in different area. This comparison is to see the influence of the geographical area in which
these two plants push on the mechanism of retention of water by the different polysaccharides extract. The polysaccharides
resulting from the nopal peels of the two plants are highly methylated (>70%), thus they are much more hydrophobic especially
for peels of OFI growing in the desert area than those resulting from pulps. Consequently, they probably prevent the evaporation
of water in nopals by increasing their water retention capacity. Prickly pear nopals of OFI and OL contain a significant amount
of water (>80%), carbohydrates (75% compared to the soluble matter), proteins (8% compared to the soluble matter) and salt
(17% compared to the soluble matter). Thus, they represent an important source of water and alimentation especially in the
arid and semi-arid areas. 相似文献

Plastics are present in a lot of aspects of everyday life. They are very versatile and resistant to microbial attack. Polyurethanes
are used in several industries and are divided in polyester and polyether polyurethanes and there are different types among
them. Despite their microbial resistance, they are susceptible to the attack of fungi and bacteria but the mechanism to elucidate
its biodegradation are unknown. There are reports from bacteria and fungi that are capable of degrading polyurethane but the
studies about the enzymes that attack the plastic are focused on bacterial enzymes only. The enzymes reported are of type
esterase and protease mainly since these enzymes are very unspecific and can recognize some regions in the polyurethane molecule
and hydrolyze it. Fungal enzymes have been studied prior the 1990s decade but recently, some authors report the use of filamentous
fungi to degrade polyurethane and also report some characteristics of the enzymes involved in it. This review approaches polyurethane
