Liver of blue shark (Prionace glauca) specimens from the South-Eastern Mediterranean Sea were analyzed for the presence of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), including coplanar congeners, polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs). PCBs were the dominant chemicals, followed by PCDFs and PCDDs. The pattern of PCB congener concentrations in the hepatic tissue was dominated by higher chlorinated compounds. The specific profile of toxic PCDD/F congeners was characterized mainly by 2,3,7,8-TCDF and 2,3,7,8-TCDD, followed by 1,2,3,6,7,8-HxCDD and 2,3,4,6,7,8-HxCDF. The total 2,3,7,8-TCDD toxic equivalent (TEQs) was 149 pg g−1 lipid wt. The profile of TEQ shows that PCDDs present the greatest risk to this species contributing to total toxicity with a percentage approximately of 60%, while the contribution of PCDFs and DL-PCBs is almost the same being 22.4% and 21.6%, respectively. Further investigations are urgently needed to characterize the PCDD/Fs contamination levels not only in elasmobranch fish but in all Mediterranean marine biota.  相似文献

Concentrations and patterns of several chlorinated persistent organic pollutants (POPs) including polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and biphenyls (PCBs) and DDTs, HCHs, CHLs and HCB were determined in black-tailed gulls (Larus crassirostris) from breeding grounds in Hokkaido, Japan. Subcutaneous fat of five adult gulls was analyzed, which had different concentrations of target compounds, whereas gull eggs contained similar concentrations of target compounds. Similar congener profiles were found between adult gulls and eggs. The concentrations of non-ortho PCBs varied from 3.4 to 13.5 ng/g lipid weight (lw) in the fat of black-tailed gulls and from 2.4 to 7.4 ng/g lw in their eggs. 2,3,7,8-PCDD/Fs occurred at relatively lower concentrations than non-ortho PCB congeners in both adult gulls and eggs. The total TEQs (toxic equivalents, PCDD/Fs+ non-ortho PCB) ranged from 0.26 to 1.0 ng/g lw in adult gulls and ranged from 0.19 to 0.58 ng/g lw in eggs.  相似文献

Nine samples of butter from producers in various states of Australia were analysed for polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs). Detectable concentrations of 2,3,7,8-chlorine substituted PCDD/Fs were found in all samples. The mean PCDD/F concentration expressed as 2,3,7,8-TCDD equivalents (TEQs) was 0.19 pg TEQ g-1 fat. The highest concentration (0.46 pg TEQ g-1 fat) was observable in a sample from Victoria which is the most densely populated state. Overall the results indicate that PCDD/F concentrations in dairy products from Australia are low in comparison to the levels in dairy products of industrialized countries on the Northern Hemisphere. As expected, this study provides evidence that the environmental and consequently the human body burden of PCDD/Fs to be relatively low in Australia.  相似文献

Seventeen polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) were quantified in adipose tissue samples of non-occupationally exposed women living in Southern Spain. Geometric mean levels of sum of congeners and WHO(PCDD/F)-TEQ(2005) were 410 and 17.9pgg(-1) fat, respectively. Among PCDDs, octachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (OCDD) showed the highest concentration with a mean value of 265pgg(-1) fat, followed by 1,2,3,6,7,8-HxCDD (49.3pgg(-1) fat) and 1,2,3,4,6,7,8-HpCDD (45.2pgg(-1) fat). These three congeners were responsible for around 90% of the sum of all PCDD/F congeners in adipose tissue. The geometric mean 2,3,7,8-TCDD value was 1.87pgg(-1) fat. 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF (8.43pgg(-1) fat) showed the highest concentration among the PCDFs, followed by 1,2,3,4,7,8-HxCDF (4.17pgg(-1) fat) and 1,2,3,6,7,8-HxCDF (3.28pgg(-1) fat), and these three congeners were responsible for 4% of the sum of all studied PCDD/F congeners in adipose tissue and 76% of the sum of ten PCDFs. 1,2,3,7,8,9-HxCDF was the only congener not quantified in any sample, while 1,2,3,4,7,8,9-HpCDF, 1,2,3,7,8-PeCDF, OCDF and 2,3,7,8-TCDF were found in 5, 16, 16 and 19 samples, respectively. All other congeners were quantifiable in all 20 samples. Congeners contributing most to the WHO(PCDD/F)-TEQ(2005) were 1,2,3,7,8-PeCDD (31.6%), 1,2,3,6,7,8-HxCDD (28.3%) and 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF (14.6%). The body burden of log-transformed WHO(PCDD/F)-TEQ(2005) levels increased with age (B=0.02; 95% CI=0.01, 0.03; p=0.02). Although these adipose tissue PCDD/F levels are similar to previously published findings in Spain and other European countries, further research is needed to determine trends in the exposure of women to these chemical residues.  相似文献

A comprehensive air toxics measurements program designed to establish baseline concentrations of atmospheric polychlorinated dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDDs/PCDFs) in the South Coast Air Basin has been completed. The program utilized state-of-the-art air sampling and laboratory analysis techniques (HRGC/HRMS) to quantify the fifteen 2,3,7,8-substituted PCDDs/PCDFs congeners of primary toxicological significance. This study, which included nine discrete sampling sessions between December 1987 and March 1989, provides the first systematic assessment of ambient PCDDs/PCDFs concentrations in the state of California. The highest PCDDs/PCDFs concentrations noted during this study occurred in December 1987. This period was dominated by off-shore air flows, suggesting a regional air mass and transport phenomena. Concentrations of the PCDDs/PCDFs were diminished markedly in subsequent sampling sessions where air flow patterns were primarily of on-shore or of coastal origin. Ambient PCDDs/PCDFs concentrations, expressed as toxic equivalents, were highest during the December 1987 sampling period. The El Toro monitoring site, located approximately 40 miles southeast of Los Angeles, consistently showed the lowest measured ambient PCDDs/PCDFs concentrations and toxic equivalents values. In the majority of the sessions and samples examined the PCDDs/PCDFs congener profiles strongly suggest combustion source influences. Typical of combustion source profiles, 1,2,3,4,6,7,8-HpCDD was the predominant 2,3,7,8-substituted species and most prevalent PCDD after OCDD. The congener of highest toxicological significance, 2,3,7,8-TCDD, was reported below the 10-20 fg/m3 detection limit for most of the ambient air samples selected for analysis.  相似文献

Congener-specific analyses of 7 polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), 10 polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and 4 non-ortho (coplanar) polychlorinated biphenyls (cPCBs) were performed on 197 foodstuffs samples of animal origin from Belgium during years 2000 and 2001. All investigated matrices (except horse) present background levels lower than the Belgian non-commercialization value of 5 pg TEQ/g fat. Pork was the meat containing the lowest concentration of both PCDD/Fs and cPCBs. The mean background concentration of 2,3,7,8-TCDD toxicity equivalent in milk was 1.1 pg/g of fat, with a congener distribution typical of non-contaminated milk. The relative contribution of 2,3,7,8-TCDD, 2,3,7,8-TCDF, 1,2,3,7,8-PeCDD and 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF to the PCDD/Fs TEQ was 85+/-7.9% for all investigated matrices. The cPCBs contribution to the total TEQ was 47+/-19.0% for products of terrestrial species and 69+/-20.0% for aquatic species. Once the contribution of cPCBs was added to the TEQ, few foodstuffs such as horse, sheep, beef, eggs and cheese presented levels above the future European guidelines that currently only include PCDD/Fs but will be re-evaluated later in order to include 'dioxin-like' PCBs. Based on levels measured in the samples, the estimation of the dietary intake was 65.3 pg WHO-TEQ/day for PCDD/Fs only (1.00 pg WHO-TEQ/kg bw/day, for a 65 kg person) and 132.9 pg WHO-TEQ/day if cPCBs were included (2.04 pg WHO-TEQ/kg bw/day, for a 65 kg person). Meat (mainly beef), dairy products, and fish each account for roughly one third of the intake.  相似文献

Formation and decomposition behaviors of PCDD/Fs during pyrolysis of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with CuO have been investigated. These reactions proceed simultaneously, and the rate of decomposition exceeds that of formation with further retention. More 2,3,7,8-TCDD is formed when the dechlorination of PCDD/Fs proceeds significantly. Homologue profile patterns of PCDD/Fs show that the fractions of O8CDD and H6CDFs are relatively larger within PCDDs and PCDFs, respectively. Extremely large amounts of PCDD/Fs are obtained with the long retention time at 200 degrees C. The formation of PCDD/Fs decreases drastically with increase in the molar ratio of CuO/PVC. The acceptability of thermodynamic calculations on the formation of PCDD/Fs is also investigated. The thermodynamic calculated tendency of the effect of oxygen on the formation of PCDD/Fs agrees well with the experimental results, although absolute values of the amount of PCDD/Fs are much different.  相似文献

Persistent organochlorine contaminants including polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) were determined in eggs with normal and deformed embryos collected in 1988 from different colonies during an epizootiological survey of double-crested cormorants (Phalacrocorax auritus) and Caspian terns (Hydroprogne caspia) from the upper Great Lakes. PCBs and p,p'-DDE were found in the highest concentrations in eggs of both species. The residue pattern of PCB isomers and chlordane compounds suggested that double-crested cormorants have greater metabolic capacity to degrade contaminants than Caspian terns. According to the toxicity evaluation using the 2,3,7,8-TCDD equivalents (TEQs) approach, non-ortho coplanar PCBs contributed much more toxicity than PCDDs and PCDFs. Total TEQ of dioxin-like compounds was likely associated with occurrence of live-deformed embryos in double-crested cormorants eggs. The toxic effects of these contaminants were also estimated in Caspian tern eggs, where elevated levels of coplanar PCBs, PCDDs and PCDFs were observed in concordance with increased rate of anomalies in eggs during a breeding season in the Great Lakes.  相似文献

Levels and specific profiles of PCDD/F congeners were determined in bivalve mollusc coming from several Rías (estuarine bays) in Galicia (Spanish northwest Atlantic coast). Three species of bivalve mollusc, Mytilus galloprovincialis, Cerstoderma edulis and Ostrea edulis, from several points of littoral collected in the period from 2000 to 2005 were analysed. WHO-TEQ concentrations ranged from 0.08 to 1.62pgg(-1) wet weight, values below the maximum concentration established by the EU. The PCDD/PCDF congeners profile in the studied samples was dominated by 2,3,7,8-TCDF and 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF. The possible influence between biometric parameters (fat and condition index) and the culture type of mussel (wild or raft) on PCDDs and PCDFs levels were studied using statistical analysis. The coefficients of Pearson product-moment correlation indicated the existence of positive significant relationship between 2,3,7,8-TCDF and 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF levels and fat content. There was not correlation between condition index and PCDD/Fs content. ANOVA also revealed there were significant differences between summation operatorPCDD/Fs, 2,3,7,8-TCDF and 2,3,4,7,8-PeCDF levels in raft and wild mussels. Spatial and temporal trends were supported by patterns in ANOVA, using a general linear model (GLM) showing a clear separation in the composition of these compounds in more and less contaminated Rías and a decrease of PCDD/FS levels along the years.  相似文献

Sewage sludges and sediments of rivers and lakes are sinks for “persistent” organic compounds entering the environment. These matrices are therefore useful in the assessment of local and global pollution with certain compounds or classes of compounds. In recent years we have analyzed sediments of the rivers Neckar, Rhine, and Danube, from Lake Constance, and samples of sewage sludge from municipal waste water treatment plants of south-west Germany for PAH, phthalates, organochlorine pesticides, and PCBs. 1 We have now analyzed a number of these samples for PCDDs and PCDFs. Isomer-specific analyses for 2,3,7,8-subsituted PCDDs/PCDFs were carried out in all cases.

In all samples PCDDs could be detected, and in most cases PCDFs as well. 2,3,7,8-TCDD was never detected at a detection limit of 0.01 ppb. In sediments (14 samples) the total PCDDs ranged from 0.1 to 2.9 ppb and PCDFs from “not detectable” to 1.2 ppb. The highest concentration for a 2,3,7,8-substituted PCDD* was found for 1,2,3,6,7,8-hexaCDD with 0.06 ppb. In sewage sludges (15 samples) the total PCDDs ranged from 4 to 65 ppb and PCDFs from 1 to 7 ppb. The highest concentration for a 2,3,7,8-substituted PCDD* was found for 1,2,3,6,7,8-hexaCDD with 0.57 ppb.

Comparison of PCDD/PCDF patterns of congeners and isomers for the sewage sludge and river sediment samples with those of stack gas emissions of waste incinerators and of pentachlorophenol allows the conclusion that the main source of PCDDs and PCDFs found in these samples is pentachlorophenol. Results of the Lake Constance sediment core indicate that here the atmospheric immission from waste incineration might be predominant.  相似文献

A congener-specific determination of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) in 21 surface sediments from Masan Bay, Korea revealed that the most toxic 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (2,3,7,8-TCDD) was detected in 76% of the samples and 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzofuran (2,3,7,8-TCDF) in 100% of the samples analyzed. The concentration range of SigmaPCDDs and SigmaPCDFs are: 230-6900; 120-16700pgg(-1) dry mass respectively. WHO Toxic Equivalents (WHO-TEQ) in Masan Bay sediment ranged from 0.53 to 99ng TEQkg(-1)d.m. for PCDDs; 4 to 1300ngTEQkg(-1)d.m. for PCDFs. In comparison with an earlier survey, the concentrations of dioxins and furans have more than doubled and the SigmaWHO-TEQ values have increased 15 times within a decade. Both point and non-point sources of pollution are suspected, especially, local sewage treatment plants are found to contribute.  相似文献

In the late 1960s the first scientific studies on contamination in Antarctica demonstrated the presence of pollutants in Antarctic ecosystems. Many Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) are transported globally from the areas in which they are produced and released into the environment in remote areas, including Antarctica. Here we report results obtained concerning the accumulation of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), mono- and non-ortho-polychlorobiphenyls (PCBs), polychlorodibenzodioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorodibenzofurans (PCDFs) in the tissues of two species of Antarctic fish (Chionodraco hamatus and Trematomus bernacchii). The 2,3,7,8-TCDD toxic equivalents (TEQs) were also calculated to evaluate the potential risk of these compounds for the two species. In general, POP levels were higher in the tissues of T. bernacchii than in C. hamatus and the highest concentrations were found in the liver of both species. The PBDE levels varied from 160.5pgg(-1) wet wt in C. hamatus muscle to 789.9pgg(-1) wet wt in T. bernacchii liver and were lower than the levels of PCBs. PCBs were the main organochlorine compounds detected and their concentrations ranged from 0.3ngg(-1) wet wt in C. hamatus muscle to 15.1ngg(-1) wet wt in T. bernacchii liver. TEQ concentrations resulted higher in C. hamatus than in T. bernacchii and were due mainly to PCDDs. The presence of PBDEs and organochlorine pollutants in the tissues of Antarctic organisms confirms their global transport and distribution.  相似文献

Concentrations of 2378-substituted polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), dibenzofurans (DFs) and non- and mono-ortho-substituted polychlorinated biphenyls (dioxin-like PCBs) were measured in livers of polar bears from the Alaskan Arctic and in eggs of Adelie penguin and south polar skua and weddell seal liver, fish and krill from Antarctica. This is one of the first reports to document the concentrations of PCDDs/DFs in polar bear livers from Alaska, and in penguin and skua eggs from Antarctica. Concentrations of total PCDD/DFs in livers of polar bears ranged from 8 to 66 (mean: 26) pg/g, on a lipid weight basis. Concentrations of total PCDD/DFs in Antarctic samples were in the increasing order on a lipid weight basis; weddell seal liver (8.9 pg/g) < fish (11-17 pg/g) < krill (27 pg/g) > penguin eggs (30 ng/g) > seal liver (57 ng/g) > fishes (6.2 ng/g) > krill (0.9 ng/g). Concentrations of 2378-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin equivalents (TEQs) calculated based on the WHO TEFs were higher in the eggs of polar skua (mean: 344: range: 220-650 pg/g, lipid wt.) from Antarctica than in polar bear livers from Alaska (mean: 120; range: 69-192 pg/g). In general, concentrations of PCDFs were greater than those of PCDDs in polar organisms. 23478-PeCDF is one of the dominant congener found in several samples. Concentrations of TEQs in polar bear livers and skua eggs were close to those that may cause adverse health effects. Dioxin-like PCBs, particularly, non-ortho coplanar PCBs were the major contributors to TEQ concentrations in penguin and skua eggs whereas mono-ortho PCBs accounted for a major portion of TEQs in polar bear livers.  相似文献

In this study samples of common trout, European eel and barbel have been analysed for the levels of heavy metals such as lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), and the metalloid arsenic (As). Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), including three non-ortho substituted PCBs, 2,3,7,8-substituted polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and DDT and its two main metabolites were also analysed in some selected samples, in order to evaluate the extent of contamination of the River Turia basin. All samples presented detectable levels of the elements analysed, presenting zinc the highest concentrations. European eel was the species found to highly accumulate these contaminants. Regarding organochlorinated compounds, seven samples exhibited detectable levels of the most toxic PCDD/Fs congener, the 2,3,7,8-TCDD. Non-ortho PCBs were not detected or not quantified in almost all samples and the sum of the individual PCB congeners determined were low compared to other aquatic ecosystems with similar fish species.  相似文献

To determine the distribution of persistent organochlorine compounds in beef cattle, concentrations of 2,3,7,8-substituted PCDDs, PCDFs and dioxin-like PCBs were measured in the blood, testes and adipose tissue of four two-month-old Japanese Black calves. Of 29 congeners analyzed, 19, 20 and 28 were detected in the blood, testes and adipose tissue, respectively, of three or all calves. Total toxic equivalents (TEQs) were similar in the testes and adipose tissue, and approximately two times higher than in the blood on a lipid weight basis (P<0.05). More PCDDs and PCDFs had accumulated in the testes than in adipose tissue (P<0.01), but more dioxin-like PCBs were found in adipose tissue than in the testes (P<0.0001). Accumulation patterns in the testes and adipose tissue varied among the congeners of PCDD and PCDF, whereas the patterns were similar in dioxin-like PCBs. In particular, highly substituted PCDD congeners were detected at high concentrations in the testes but at lower concentrations in adipose tissue compared with other congeners. By contrast, accumulation levels of highly substituted PCDFs were lower in both those tissues than the other congeners. In conclusion, it was demonstrated that PCDDs, PCDFs and dioxin-like PCBs leave the circulation and accumulate in the testes and adipose tissue in bovine calves. It was suggested that congeners of PCDD, especially highly substituted PCDDs, and PCDFs have a tendency to accumulate in the testis and dioxin-like PCB congeners accumulate readily in adipose tissue.  相似文献

The purpose of this research was to determine polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/F) in five chlorinated chemicals (phthalocyanine copper, phthalocyanine green, chloranil-1 and 2, and triclosan), and to compare their 2,3,7,8-tetrachlordibenzo-IpI-dioxin equivalents (TEQ). The distribution patterns of total PCDD/Fs and 2,3,7,8-substituted PCDD/Fs were elucidated in detail. The TEQ values of toxic PCDD/Fs in all chemicals were in the range of 5.03-1379.55 ng I-TEQ/kg. The contribution of OCDD and OCDF in phthalocyanine green was 75% of the total TEQ. For chloranils, the maximum contribution of toxic PCDD/Fs was from 2,3,7,8-substituted HxCDF and 2,3,7,8-substituted HpCDF. The TEQ of HxCDF and HpCDF in chloranil-1 was 90% and in chloranil-2 was 71%. And the toxic contribution increased with the degree of chlorination for PCDFs.  相似文献

The levels of organohalogenated contaminants, i.e. PCBs, PCDDs and PCDFs were determined in sediment and fish samples collected from different locations in the River Nile, Egypt. Thirty-six sediment and eighteen fish samples were carried out during a period of 12 months from February 2003 to February 2004. Determination of PCBs and dioxins was carried out using a high resolution GC mass spectrometer. The results indicated that the PCB and PCDD/F mean concentrations in sediment samples ranged from 1461 to 2244 and from 240 to 775pgg(-1) dry wt basis, respectively. The mean concentration of PCBs and PCDD/Fs in fish samples were found to be in the range from 695 to 853pgg(-1) fresh wt for PCB congeners and from 27.7 to 121pgg(-1) lipid for total PCDD/Fs. Moreover, the concentrations of both PCBs and PCDD/Fs were found to be different at different locations along the River Nile. It could be concluded that the contamination of the River Nile is within the permissible limits set by the FDA and the Egyptian Standards for fish and shellfish.  相似文献

Suspended sediments from the Detroit River were collected in 1999 and 2000 using sediment traps at sites ranging from western Lake Erie to southern Lake St. Clair and analyzed to determine the spatial distributions of contaminants including polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDDs/PCDFs), dioxin-like PCBs (DLPCBs) and polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs). Concentrations of all three contaminant classes were clearly elevated at sites in the lower reaches of the river in the Trenton Channel. The potential influence of the Trenton Channel as a source of contamination to western Lake Erie was further evidenced by PCDD/PCDF homologue profiles, which indicated a contribution from chemical manufacturing in addition to the normal background combustion profile. Toxic equivalents (TEQs) for PCDDs/PCDFs generally exceeded those for DLPCBs; combined total TEQs in July 2000 for these two compound classes ranged from 2.30 pg/g in southern Lake St. Clair to 306 pg/g at a station just downstream of the outflow of Monguagon Creek in the Trenton Channel. The spatial distribution of PCN contamination was similar to that of PCDDs/PCDFs and DLPCBs, with the highest level of total PCNs (8200 ng/g) detected at a site in the Trenton Channel near Elizabeth Park; TEQs for PCNs in the Trenton Channel ranged from 73 to 3300 pg/g. The data indicate that PCNs represent a significant contribution to dioxin-like biological activity in Detroit River suspended sediments.  相似文献

There is no previous report from Turkey on chemically determined polychlorinated dibenzo-para-dioxins (PCDDs), polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs), and dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in human tissues expressed as World Health Organization (WHO) toxic equivalents (TEQs). The objective of this study was to determine the occurrence of PCDDs/Fs, and dioxin-like PCBs in the general adult Turkish population. For this reason we measured adipose tissue concentrations of PCDDs/Fs and dioxin-like PCBs in 23 Turkish men living in Ankara,Turkey in 2004. PCDD/F concentrations ranged between 3.2 and 19.7 pg WHO-TEQ/g fat (5.34 and 42.7 WHO-TEQ/g fat, respectively, including dioxin-like PCBs). The mean concentrations of WHO(PCDD/F)-TEQ and WHO(PCB)-TEQ were 9.2 and 6.67 pg/g on a lipid basis , respectively. Samples were analyzed for PCDD/F and twelve dioxin-like PCB congeners using high resolution gas chromatography/high resolution mass spectrometry (HRGC/HRMS). This study is very important since it is the first report on PCDDs/Fs and dioxin-like PCB contamination in human adipose tissue from Turkey.  相似文献

Feasibility of three different extraction methods for the simultaneous determination of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) in butter is discussed. The method based on liquid-liquid extraction with water of the non fatty solids from butter dissolved in hexane was found to be the most efficient for the determination of the lipid content and the levels of the investigated pollutants. This method was used to evaluate the background levels of PCBs, PCDDs and PCDFs in butters commercially available in Spain. Broad ranges of PCB, specifically, PCDD and PCDF concentrations were found in the different brands analysed. Levels, profiles and patterns of these pollutants in butter were compared with those previously reported for different Spanish dairy products. The toxic tetra-equivalents of 2,3,7,8-TCDD (1-TEQ) averages for PCDDs and PCDFs in the 21 butter samples analysed were 0.41 and 0.70 pg/g fat basis, respectively. These values were similar or lower than those cited in the literature for other countries.  相似文献
