This study reports the synthesis and characterization of composite nitrogen and fluorine co-doped titanium dioxide (NF-TiO2) for the removal of contaminants of concern in wastewater under visible and solar light. Monodisperse anatase TiO2 nanoparticles of different sizes and Evonik P25 were assembled to immobilized NF-TiO2 by direct incorporation into the sol–gel or by the layer-by-layer technique. The composite films were characterized with X-ray diffraction, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, environmental scanning electron microscopy, and porosimetry analysis. The photocatalytic degradation of atrazine, carbamazepine, and caffeine was evaluated in a synthetic water solution and in an effluent from a hybrid biological concentrator reactor (BCR). Minor aggregation and improved distribution of monodisperse titania particles was obtained with NF-TiO2-monodisperse (10 and 50 nm) from the layer-by-layer technique than with NF-TiO2?+?monodisperse TiO2 (300 nm) directly incorporated into the sol. The photocatalysts synthesized with the layer-by-layer method achieved significantly higher degradation rates in contrast with NF-TiO2-monodisperse titania (300 nm) and slightly faster values when compared with NF-TiO2-P25. Using NF-TiO2 layer-by-layer with monodisperse TiO2 (50 nm) under solar light irradiation, the respective degradation rates in synthetic water and BCR effluent were 14.6 and 9.5?×?10?3?min?1 for caffeine, 12.5 and 9.0?×?10?3?min?1 for carbamazepine, and 10.9 and 5.8?×?10?3?min?1 for atrazine. These results suggest that the layer-by-layer technique is a promising method for the synthesis of composite TiO2-based films compared to the direct addition of nanoparticles into the sol.  相似文献

Photocatalytic degradation of the herbicide, pendimethalin (PM) was investigated with BaTiO3/TiO2 UV light system in the presence of peroxide and persulphate species in aqueous medium. The nanoparticles of BaTiO3 and TiO2 were obtained by gel to crystallite conversion method. These photo catalysts are characterized by energy dispersive x-ray analysis (EDX), scanning electron microscope (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) adsorption isotherm and reflectance spectral studies. The quantum yields for TiO2 and BaTiO3 for the degradation reactions are 3.166 Einstein m?2 s?1 and 2.729 Einstein m?2 s?1 and catalytic efficiencies are 6.0444 × 10?7 mg?2h?1L2 and 5.403 × 10?7 mg?2h?1L2, respectively as calculated from experimental results. BaTiO3 exhibited comparable photocatalytic efficiency in the degradation of pendimethalin as the most widely used TiO2 photocatalyst. The persulphate played an important role in enhancing the rate of degradation of pendimethalin when compared to hydrogen peroxide. The degradation process of pendimethalin followed the first-order kinetics and it is in agreement with Langmuir-Hinshelwood model of surface mechanism. The reason for high stability of pendimethalin for UV-degradation even in the presence of catalyst and oxidizing agents were explored. The higher rate of degradation was observed in alkaline medium at pH 11. The degradation process was monitored by spectroscopic techniques such as ultra violet-visible (UV-Vis), infrared (IR) and gas chromatography mass spectroscopy (GC-MS). The major intermediate products identified were: N-propyl-2-nitro-6-amino-3, 4-xylidine, (2, 3-dimethyl-5-nitro-6-hydroxy amine) phenol and N-Propyl-3, 4-dimethyl-2, 6-dinitroaniline by GC-MS analysis and the probable reaction mechanism has been proposed based on these products.  相似文献

Carbofuran (CBF) removal in a continuous-flow photocatalytic reactor with granular activated carbon supported titanium dioxide (GAC-TiO2) catalyst was investigated. The effects of feed flow rate, TiO2 concentration and addition of supplementary oxidants on CBF removal were investigated. The central composite design (CCD) was used to design the experiments and to estimate the effects of feed flow rate and TiO2 concentration on CBF removal. The outcome of CCD experiments demonstrated that reactor performance was influenced mainly by feed flow rate compared to TiO2 concentration. A second-order polynomial model developed based on CCD experiments fitted the experimental data with good correlation (R2 ~ 0.964). The addition of 1 mL min?1 hydrogen peroxide has shown complete CBF degradation and 76% chemical oxygen demand removal under the following operating conditions of CBF ~50 mg L?1, TiO2 ~5 mg L?1 and feed flow rate ~82.5 mL min?1. Rate constant of the photodegradation process was also calculated by applying the kinetic data in pseudo-first-order kinetics. Four major degradation intermediates of CBF were identified using GC-MS analysis. As a whole, the reactor system and GAC-TiO2 catalyst used could be constructive in cost-effective CBF removal with no impact to receiving environment through getaway of photocatalyst.  相似文献

Gaseous nitrogen dioxide (NO2) represents an oxidant that is present in relatively high concentrations in various indoor settings. Remarkably increased NO2 levels up to 1.5 ppm are associated with homes using gas stoves. The heterogeneous reactions of NO2 with adsorbed water on surfaces lead to the generation of nitrous acid (HONO). Here, we present a HONO source induced by heterogeneous reactions of NO2 with selected indoor paint surfaces in the presence of light (300 nm?<?λ?<?400 nm). We demonstrate that the formation of HONO is much more pronounced at elevated relative humidity. In the presence of light (5.5 W m?2), an increase of HONO production rate of up to 8.6?·?109 molecules cm?2 s?1 was observed at [NO2]?=?60 ppb and 50 % relative humidity (RH). At higher light intensity of 10.6 (W m?2), the HONO production rate increased to 2.1?·?1010 molecules cm?2 s?1. A high NO2 to HONO conversion yield of up to 84 % was observed. This result strongly suggests that a light-driven process of indoor HONO production is operational. This work highlights the potential of paint surfaces to generate HONO within indoor environments by light-induced NO2 heterogeneous reactions.  相似文献

This paper demonstrated the relative bactericidal activity of photoirradiated (6W-UV Torch, λ?>?340 nm and intensity?=?0.64 mW/cm2) P25–TiO2 nanoparticles, nanorods, and nanotubes for the killing of Gram-negative bacterium Agrobacterium tumefaciens LBA4404 for the first time. TiO2 nanorod (anatase) with length of 70–100 nm and diameter of 10–12 nm, and TiO2 nanotube with length of 90–110 nm and diameter of 9–11 nm were prepared from P-25 Degussa TiO2 (size, 30–50 nm) by hydrothermal method and compared their biocidal activity both in aqueous slurry and thin films. The mode of bacterial cell decomposition was analyzed through transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR), and K+ ion leakage. The antimicrobial activity of photoirradiated TiO2 of different shapes was found to be in the order P25–TiO2?>?nanorod?>?nanotube which is reverse to their specific surface area as 54?<?79?<?176 m2 g?1, evidencing that the highest activity of P25–TiO2 nanoparticles is not due to surface area as their crystal structure and surface morphology are entirely different. TiO2 thin films always exhibited less photoactivity as compared to its aqueous suspension under similar conditions of cell viability test. The changes in the bacterial surface morphology by UV-irradiated P25–TiO2 nanoparticles was examined by TEM, oxidative degradation of cell components such as proteins, carbohydrates, phospholipids, nucleic acids by FT-IR spectral analysis, and K+ ion leakage (2.5 ppm as compared to 0.4 ppm for control culture) as a measure of loss in cell membrane permeability.  相似文献

Introduction

The degradation and mineralization of two triketone (TRK) herbicides, including sulcotrione and mesotrione, by the electro-Fenton process (electro-Fenton using Pt anode (EF-Pt), electro-Fenton with BDD anode (EF-BDD) and anodic oxidation with BDD anode) were investigated in acidic aqueous medium.

Methods

The reactivity of both herbicides toward hydroxyl radicals was found to depend on the electron-withdrawing effect of the aromatic chlorine or nitro substituents. The degradation of sulcotrione and mesotrione obeyed apparent first-order reaction kinetics, and their absolute rate constants with hydroxyl radicals at pH?3.0 were determined by the competitive kinetics method.

Results and discussion

The hydroxylation absolute rate constant (k abs) values of both TRK herbicides ranged from 8.20?×?108 (sulcotrione) to 1.01?×?109 (mesotrione) L?mol?1?s?1, whereas those of the TRK main cyclic or aromatic by-products, namely cyclohexane 1,3-dione , (2-chloro-4-methylsulphonyl) benzoic acid and 4-(methylsulphonyl)-2-nitrobenzoic acid, comprised between 5.90?×?108 and 3.29?×?109?L?mol?1?s?1. The efficiency of mineralization of aqueous solutions of both TRK herbicides was evaluated in terms of total organic carbon removal. Mineralization yields of about 97?C98% were reached in optimal conditions for a 6-h electro-Fenton treatment time.

Conclusions

The mineralization process steps involved the oxidative opening of the aromatic or cyclic TRK by-products, leading to the formation of short-chain carboxylic acids, and, then, of carbon dioxide and inorganic ions.  相似文献

Concentrations of neutral poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), such as fluorotelomer alcohols (FTOHs), perfluoroalkane sulfonamides (FASAs), perfluoroalkane sufonamidoethanols (FASEs), and fluorotelomer acrylates (FTACs), have been simultaneously determined in surface seawater and the atmosphere of the North Sea. Seawater and air samples were taken aboard the German research vessel Heincke on the cruise 303 from 15 to 24 May 2009. The concentrations of FTOHs, FASAs, FASEs, and FTACs in the dissolved phase were 2.6–74, <0.1–19, <0.1–63, and <1.0–9.0 pg L?1, respectively. The highest concentrations were determined in the estuary of the Weser and Elbe rivers and a decreasing concentration profile appeared with increasing distance from the coast toward the central part of the North Sea. Gaseous FTOHs, FASAs, FASEs, and FTACs were in the range of 36–126, 3.1–26, 3.7–19, and 0.8–5.6 pg m?3, which were consistent with the concentrations determined in 2007 in the North Sea, and approximately five times lower than those reported for an urban area of Northern Germany. These results suggested continuous continental emissions of neutral PFASs followed by transport toward the marine environment. Air–seawater gas exchanges of neutral PFASs were estimated using fugacity ratios and the two-film resistance model based upon paired air–seawater concentrations and estimated Henry's law constant values. Volatilization dominated for all neutral PFASs in the North Sea. The air–seawater gas exchange fluxes were in the range of 2.5?×?103–3.6?×?105 pg m?2 for FTOHs, 1.8?×?102–1.0?×?105 pg m?2 for FASAs, 1.1?×?102–3.0?×?105 pg m?2 for FASEs and 6.3?×?102–2.0?×?104 pg m?2 for FTACs, respectively. These results suggest that the air–seawater gas exchange is an important process that intervenes in the transport and fate for neutral PFASs in the marine environment.  相似文献

Experiments were conducted to assess the impact of citric acid (CA) and rhizosphere bacteria on metal uptake in Phragmites australis cultured in a spiked acid mine drainage (AMD) soil. Rhizosphere iron-oxidizing bacteria (Fe(II)OB) enhanced the formation of Fe plaque on roots, which decreased the uptake of Fe and Mn. CA inhibited the growth of Fe(II)OB, decreased the formation of metal plaque, raised the metal mobility in soil, and increased the accumulation of metals in all tissues of the reeds. The higher the CA dosage, the more metals accumulated into reeds. The total amount of metals in reeds increased from 7.8?±?0.5?×?10?6 mol plant?1 (Mn), 1.4?±?0.1?×?10?3 mol plant?1 (Fe), and 1.0?±?0.1?×?10?4 mol plant?1 (Al) in spiked soil without CA to 22.2?±?0.5?×?10?6 mol plant?1 (Mn), 3.5?±?0.06?×?10?3 mol plant?1 (Fe), and 5.0?±?0.2?×?10?4 mol plant?1 (Al) in soil added with 33.616 g C6H8O7·H2O for per kilogram soil. CA could be effective at enhancing the phytoremediation of metals from AMD-contaminated soil.  相似文献

Acrylate esters are α,β-unsaturated esters that contain vinyl groups directly attached to the carbonyl carbon. These compounds are widely used in the production of plastics and resins. Atmospheric degradation processes of these compounds are currently not well understood. The kinetics of the gas phase reactions of OH radicals with methyl 3-methylacrylate and methyl 3,3-dimethylacrylate were determined using the relative rate technique in a 50 L Pyrex photoreactor using in situ FTIR spectroscopy at room temperature (298?±?2 K) and atmospheric pressure (708?±?8 Torr) with air as the bath gas. Rate coefficients obtained were (in units cm3 molecule?1 s?1): (3.27?±?0.33)?×?10?11 and (4.43?±?0.42)?×?10?11, for CH3CH═CHC(O)OCH3 and (CH3)2CH═CHC(O)OCH3, respectively. The same technique was used to study the gas phase reactions of hexyl acrylate and ethyl hexyl acrylate with OH radicals and Cl atoms. In the experiments with Cl, N2 and air were used as the bath gases. The following rate coefficients were obtained (in cm3 molecule?1 s?1): k3 (CH2═CHC(O)O(CH2)5CH3?+?Cl)?=?(3.31?±?0.31)?×?10?10, k4(CH2═CHC(O)OCH2CH(CH2CH3)(CH2)3CH3?+?Cl)?=?(3.46?±?0.31)?×?10?10, k5(CH2═CHC(O)O(CH2)5CH3?+?OH)?=?(2.28?±?0.23)?×?10?11, and k6(CH2═CHC(O)OCH2CH(CH2CH3)(CH2)3CH3?+?OH)?=?(2.74?±?0.26)?×?10?11. The reactivity increased with the number of methyl substituents on the double bond and with the chain length of the alkyl group in –C(O)OR. Estimations of the atmospheric lifetimes clearly indicate that the dominant atmospheric loss process for these compounds is their daytime reaction with the hydroxyl radical. In coastal areas and in some polluted environments, Cl atom-initiated degradation of these compounds can be significant, if not dominant. Maximum Incremental Reactivity (MIR) index and global warming potential (GWP) were also calculated, and it was concluded that these compounds have significant MIR values, but they do not influence global warming.  相似文献

In August 2012, eight rainwater samples were collected and analyzed for pH and metal ions, viz., iron, copper, and manganese. The pH was within the range 6.84–7.65. The rate of oxidation of dissolved sulfur dioxide was determined using these rainwater samples as reaction medium. Kinetics was defined by the rate law: ?d[S(IV)]/dt = R o = k o[S(IV)]], where k o is the first-order rate constant and R o is the rate of the reaction. The effect of two volatile organic compounds—ethanol and 2-butanol—was examined and found to inhibit the oxidation as defined by the rate law: k obs = k o/(1 + B [Inh]), where k obs is the first-order rate constant in the presence of the inhibitor, [Inh] is the concentration of the inhibitor, and B is the inhibitor parameter—an empirical constant. In the pH range of collected rainwater samples, the values of first-order rate constants ranged from 3.1?×?10?5 to 1.5?×?10?4 s?1 at 25 °C. The values of inhibition parameter were found to be (5.99?±?3.91?×?104) (ethanol) and (3.95?±?2.36)?×?104 (2-butanol) at 25 °C.  相似文献

In addition to direct photolysis studies, in this work the second-order reaction rate constants of pesticides imidacloprid (IMD) and ametryn (AMT) with hydroxyl radicals (HO), singlet oxygen (1O2), and triplet excited states of chromophoric dissolved organic matter (3CDOM*) were determined by kinetic competition under sunlight. IMD and AMT exhibited low photolysis quantum yields: (1.23?±?0.07)?×?10–2 and (7.99?±?1.61)?×?10–3 mol Einstein?1, respectively. In contrast, reactions with HO radicals and 3CDOM* dominate their degradation, with 1O2 exhibiting rates three to five orders of magnitude lower. The values of kIMD,HO● and kAMT,HO● were (3.51?±?0.06)?×?109 and (4.97?±?0.37)?×?109 L mol?1 s?1, respectively, while different rate constants were obtained using anthraquinone-2-sulfonate (AQ2S) or 4-carboxybenzophenone (CBBP) as CDOM proxies. For IMD this difference was significant, with kIMD,3AQ2S*?=?(1.02?±?0.08)?×?109 L mol?1 s?1 and kIMD,3CBBP*?=?(3.17?±?0.14)?×?108 L mol?1 s?1; on the contrary, the values found for AMT are close, kAMT,3AQ2S*?=?(8.13?±?0.35)?×?108 L mol?1 s?1 and kAMT,3CBBP*?=?(7.75?±?0.80)?×?108 L mol?1 s?1. Based on these results, mathematical simulations performed with the APEX model for typical levels of water constituents (NO3?, NO2?, CO32?, TOC, pH) indicate that the half-lives of these pesticides should vary between 24.1 and 18.8 days in the waters of the Paranapanema River (São Paulo, Brazil), which can therefore be impacted by intensive agricultural activity in the region.

Photocatalytic degradation of bisphenol A (BPA) in waters and wastewaters in the presence of titanium dioxide (TiO2) was performed under different conditions. Suspensions of the TiO2 were used to compare the degradation efficiency of BPA (20 mg L?1) in batch and compound parabolic collector (CPC) reactors. A TiO2 catalyst supported on glass spheres was prepared (sol–gel method) and used in a CPC solar pilot plant for the photodegradation of BPA (100 μg L?1). The influence of OH·, O2 ·?, and h + on the BPA degradation were evaluated. The radicals OH· and O2 ·? were proved to be the main species involved on BPA photodegradation. Total organic carbon (TOC) and carboxylic acids were determined to evaluate the BPA mineralization during the photodegradation process. Some toxicological effects of BPA and its photoproducts on Eisenia andrei earthworms were evaluated. The results show that the optimal concentration of suspended TiO2 to degrade BPA in batch or CPC reactors was 0.1 g L?1. According to biological tests, the BPA LC50 in 24 h for E. andrei was of 1.7?×?10?2 mg cm?2. The photocatalytic degradation of BPA mediated by TiO2 supported on glass spheres suffered strong influence of the water matrix. On real municipal wastewater treatment plant (MWWTP) secondary effluent, 30 % of BPA remains in solution; nevertheless, the method has the enormous advantage since it eliminates the need of catalyst removal step, reducing the cost of treatment.  相似文献

In recent decades, biodegradation has been considered a promising and eco-friendly way to eliminate organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) from the environment. To enrich current biodegrading-enzyme resources, an alkaline phosphatase (AP3) from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens YP6 was characterized and utilized to test the potential for new applications in the biodegradation of five broad-spectrum OPs. Characterization of AP3 demonstrated that activity was optimal at 40?°C and pH 10.3. The activity of AP3 was enhanced by Mg2+, Ca2+, and Cu2+, and strongly inhibited by Mn2+, EDTA, and L-Cys. Compared to disodium phenyl phosphate, p-nitrophenyl phosphate (pNPP) was more suitable to AP3, and the Vm, Km, kcat, kcat/Km values of AP3 for pNPP were 4,033?U mg?1, 12.2?mmol L?1, 3.3?×?106 s?1, and 2.7?×?108 s?1mol?1L, respectively. Degradation of the five OPs, which included chlorpyrifos, dichlorvos, dipterex, phoxim, and triazophos, was 18.7%, 53.0%, 5.5%, 68.3%, and 96.3%, respectively, after treatment with AP3 for 1?h. After treatment of the OP for 8?h, AP3 activities remained more than 80%, with the exception of phoxim. It can be postulated that AP3 may have a broad OP-degradation ability and could possibly provide excellent potential for biodegradation and bioremediation in polluted ecosystems.  相似文献

Purpose

The interaction between triclosan (TCS) and human serum albumin (HSA) was investigated in order to obtain the binding mechanism, binding constant, the type of binding force, the binding distance between the donor and acceptor, and the effect of TCS on the conformation change of HSA.

Methods

A HSA solution was added to the quartz cell and then titrated by successive addition of TCS. The fluorescence quenching spectra and synchronous spectra were recorded with the excitation and emission slits of the passage of band set at 10 and 20 nm. Three-dimensional fluorescence spectra of HSA were recorded before and after the addition of TCS. The capillary electrophoresis was conducted with the pressure injection mode at 0.5 psi for 5 s, separation under 25 kV, and detection at 214 nm.

Results

Fluorescence data indicated the fluorescence quenching of HSA by TCS was static quenching, and the quenching constants (K a ) were 1.14?×?105, 8.75?×?104, 6.67?×?104, and 5.00?×?104 at 293, 298, 303, and 309 K, respectively. The thermodynamic parameters, enthalpy change (??H) and entropy change (??S) for the interaction were calculated to be ?37.9 kJ mol?1 and 32.6 J?mol?1 K?1. The binding distance between TCS and tryptophan residues of HSA was obtained to be 1.81 nm according to F??rster nonradioactive energy transfer theory. The UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, the synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy, three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy, and circular dichroism spectroscopy revealed the alterations of HSA secondary structure in the presence of TCS. Finally, the interaction between TCS and HSA was further confirmed by capillary electrophoresis.

Conclusions

TCS was bound to HSA to form the TCS-HSA complex, with the binding distance of 1.81 nm. Hydrophobic interaction and hydrogen bond were dominated in the binding. TCS could change the secondary conformation of HSA. This work provides an insight into noncovalent interaction between emerging pollutants and protein, helping to elucidate the toxic mechanism of such pollutants.  相似文献

An indoor/outdoor monitoring programme of PM10 was carried out in two sports venues (a fronton and a gymnasium). Levels always below 50 μg m?3 were obtained in the fronton and outdoor air. Due to the climbing chalk and the constant process of resuspension, concentrations above 150 μg m?3 were registered in the gymnasium. The chalk dust contributed to CO3 2? concentrations of 32?±?9.4 μg m?3 in this sports facility, which represented, on average, 18 % of the PM10 mass. Here, the carbonate levels were 128 times higher than those registered outdoors. Much lower concentrations, around 1 μg m?3, were measured in the fronton. The chalk dust is also responsible for the high Mg2+ concentrations in the gym (4.7?±?0.89 μg m?3), unfolding a PM10 mass fraction of 2.7 %. Total carbon accounted for almost 30 % of PM10 in both indoor spaces. Aerosol size distributions were bimodal and revealed a clear dependence on physical activities and characteristics of the sports facilities. The use of climbing chalk in the gymnasium contributed significantly to the coarse mode. The average geometric mean diameter, geometric standard deviation and total number of coarse particles were 0.77 μm, 2.79 cm?3 and 28 cm?3, respectively.  相似文献

The gas-phase photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) of pentane, i-pentane, hexane, i-hexane and heptane over illuminated titanium at ambient temperatures was studied in a continuous stirring-tank reactor and for different values of VOC feed concentrations and relative humidity levels. Conversions achieved were over 90% for residence times from 50 to 85 s and the only products formed were CO2 and H2O, while no catalyst deactivation was observed. The obtained results indicate that the molecular and stereochemical structures of the compounds play an important role in the reaction, as the rate was increasing with higher molecular weight, and the presence of a tertiary carbon atom enhanced the reactivity. It was also observed that the increase of the carbon chain by a methyl group had the same influence in the reaction rate in the case of both pentane and i-pentane, while the ratio of the rates for the linear and branched structure was the same for both C5 and C6 isomers. The presence of water in the system had an inhibitory effect in all cases. The PCO kinetics was well fit by a Langmuir–Hinshelwood model, modified so as to take into consideration the influence of water vapour. The rate constants ranged from 1.87 × 10?7 mol m?2 s?1 for pentane to 3.03 × 10?7 mol m?2 s?1 for heptane, and the VOC adsorption constants from 1.14 104 to 2.83 104 m3 mol?1, while the water adsorption constant was 11.2 m3 mol?1.  相似文献

The paper presents results of the studies photodegradation, photooxidation, and oxidation of phenylarsonic acid (PAA) in aquatic solution. The water solutions, which consist of 2.7 g dm?3 phenylarsonic acid, were subjected to advance oxidation process (AOP) in UV, UV/H2O2, UV/O3, H2O2, and O3 systems under two pH conditions. Kinetic rate constants and half-life of phenylarsonic acid decomposition reaction are presented. The results from the study indicate that at pH 2 and 7, PAA degradation processes takes place in accordance with the pseudo first order kinetic reaction. The highest rate constants (10.45?×?10?3 and 20.12?×?10?3) and degradation efficiencies at pH 2 and 7 were obtained at UV/O3 processes. In solution, after processes, benzene, phenol, acetophenone, o-hydroxybiphenyl, p-hydroxybiphenyl, benzoic acid, benzaldehyde, and biphenyl were identified.  相似文献

A novel dual coagulant system of polyaluminum chloride sulfate (PACS) and polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride (PDADMAC) was used to treat natural algae-laden water from Meiliang Gulf, Lake Taihu. PACS (Aln(OH)mCl3n-m-2k(SO4)k) has a mass ratio of 10 %, a SO4 2?/Al3 + mole ratio of 0.0664, and an OH/Al mole ratio of 2. The PDADMAC ([C8H16NCl]m) has a MW which ranges from 5?×?105 to 20?×?105 Da. The variations of contaminants in water samples during treatments were estimated in the form of principal component analysis (PCA) factor scores and conventional variables (turbidity, DOC, etc.). Parallel factor analysis determined four chromophoric dissolved organic matters (CDOM) components, and PCA identified four integrated principle factors. PCA factor 1 had significant correlations with chlorophyll-a (r?=?0.718), protein-like CDOM C1 (0.689), and C2 (0.756). Factor 2 correlated with UV254 (0.672), humic-like CDOM component C3 (0.716), and C4 (0.758). Factors 3 and 4 had correlations with NH3-N (0.748) and T-P (0.769), respectively. The variations of PCA factors scores revealed that PACS contributed less aluminum dissolution than PAC to obtain equivalent removal efficiency of contaminants. This might be due to the high cationic charge and pre-hydrolyzation of PACS. Compared with PACS coagulation (20 mg L?1), the removal of PCA factors 1, 2, and 4 increased 45, 33, and 12 %, respectively, in combined PACS–PDADMAC treatment (0.8 mg L?1?+?20 mg L?1). Since PAC contained more Al (0.053 g/1 g) than PACS (0.028 g/1 g), the results indicated that PACS contributed less Al dissolution into the water to obtain equivalent removal efficiency.  相似文献

To investigate the spatial and seasonal variations of nitrous oxide (N2O) fluxes and understand the key controlling factors, we explored N2O fluxes and environmental variables in high marsh (HM), middle marsh (MM), low marsh (LM), and mudflat (MF) in the Yellow River estuary throughout a year. Fluxes of N2O differed significantly between sampling periods as well as between sampling positions. During all times of day and the seasons measured, N2O fluxes ranged from ?0.0051 to 0.0805 mg N2O m?2 h?1, and high N2O emissions occurred during spring (0.0278 mg N2O m?2 h?1) and winter (0.0139 mg N2O m?2 h?1) while low fluxes were observed during summer (0.0065 mg N2O m?2 h?1) and autumn (0.0060 mg N2O m?2 h?1). The annual average N2O flux from the intertidal zone was 0.0117 mg N2O m?2 h?1, and the cumulative N2O emission throughout a year was 113.03 mg N2O m?2, indicating that coastal marsh acted as N2O source. Over all seasons, N2O fluxes from the four marshes were significantly different (p?<?0.05), in the order of HM (0.0256?±?0.0040 mg N2O m?2 h?1)?>?MF (0.0107?±?0.0027 mg N2O m?2 h?1)?>?LM (0.0073?±?0.0020 mg N2O m?2 h?1)?>?MM (0.0026?±?0.0011 mg N2O m?2 h?1). Temporal variations of N2O emissions were related to the vegetations (Suaeda salsa, Phragmites australis, and Tamarix chinensis) and the limited C and mineral N in soils during summer and autumn and the frequent freeze/thaw cycles in soils during spring and winter, while spatial variations were mainly affected by tidal fluctuation and plant composition at spatial scale. This study indicated the importance of seasonal N2O contributions (particularly during non-growing season) to the estimation of local N2O inventory, and highlighted both the large spatial variation of N2O fluxes across the coastal marsh (CV?=?158.31 %) and the potential effect of exogenous nitrogen loading to the Yellow River estuary on N2O emission should be considered before the annual or local N2O inventory was evaluated accurately.  相似文献

Understanding the removal mechanisms and kinetics of trace tetracycline by activated sludge is critical to both evaluation of tetracycline elimination in sewage treatment plants and risk assessment/management of tetracycline released to soil environment due to the application of biosolids as fertilizer. Adsorption is found to be the primary removal mechanism while biodegradation, volatilization, and hydrolysis can be ignored in this study. Adsorption kinetics was well described by pseudo-second-order model. Faster adsorption rate (k 2?=?2.04?×?10?2?g?min?1?μg?1) and greater adsorption capacity (q e?=?38.8 μg?g?1) were found in activated sludge treating freshwater sewage. Different adsorption rate and adsorption capacity resulted from chemical properties of sewage matrix rather than activated sludge surface characteristics. The decrease of tetracycline adsorption in saline sewage was mainly due to Mg2+ which significantly reduced adsorption distribution coefficient (K d) from 12,990?±?260 to 4,690?±?180 L?kg?1. Species-specific adsorption distribution coefficients followed the order of $ K_{\mathrm{d}}^{{ + 00}} \gg K_{\mathrm{d}}^{{ + - 0}} > K_{\mathrm{d}}^{{ + - - }} $ . Contribution of zwitterionic tetracycline to the overall adsorption was >90 % in the actual pH range in aeration tank. Adsorption of tetracycline in a wide range of temperature (10 to 35 °C) followed the Freundlich adsorption isotherm well.  相似文献
